Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

"With everyone witnessing over here, I announce that Vivien Conrad is being removed

from the post of commander." The whole court fell silent at that announcement and every pair of eyes fell on the lady who was present in the middle of the court. She was wearing a dark green dress and her hands were in front, she was dull but her gestures were still that of a noble. She knew that this announcement would come near or sooner to any day because she had lost her power as well as magic. She was no longer as precious as she was a few months back. She can no longer serve the country she loved from the bottom of her heart, that hurts her a lot.

She looked up to see the king and a forced smile came over her face as she heard the announcement from the new king. She bowed in front of him and then the expression on her face was as hard as stone. A knight marched forwards and she looked up to him and found that he was none other than her best pal Ansell. She could see that his eyes were full of sorrow and shame because he was the one who was going to take away her sword which she loved the most. She smiled in his way and gently picked up her sword in both of her hands and handed it over to him.

Ansell looked at the sword which was forwarded in his direction. He can never forget that strength of the owner and the sword. It was a legendary sword which was bestowed to Vivien by the temple because of her powers. She had won several wars with that sword. Generally there are men who would be recruited as the commander but the previous emperor prioritized the talent over the gender and that is why a legendary commander was born into the kingdom and that was none other than Vivien Conrad.

He clearly remembers the day when Vivien was honored by the position. It was as if he could see the history moving in front of him. That day Vivien was shining brighter than anyone else and was more confident and powerful and when she received the honor, she was bestowed with the legendary sword which had shock many and even many male knight were envious of her but in no time she was proved to be a great leader for the knight and no one can deny that she was not right for the position.

"Ansell, what are you doing?" He heard the cold voice of the emperor which made him flinch a bit and with the shaky hand he took the sword and went back to his place. He clenched over the sword and took care of it greatly. He looked at his pal who was having no expression as if her feelings had gone frozen.

"That is quite sad that you are removed from your position." The king said.

"It was my honor to serve the country till this time." She said and her smile and eyes were still glittering with proudness. The king didn't like her attitude but in front of the crowd, he couldn't do anything. "Thank you so much for the kindness that the kingdom showed to me for so long. This won't be forgotten till the end of my life." She bowed and turned back and started to leave the place without any expression.

She could hear everyone was murmuring about her getting removed from the position.

"Sometime ago, she was like an angel as well as devil when she picked up the sword but now she is soulless herself." That wasn't wrong.

"She is looking like a rag even after wearing such dresses." She kept on hearing many more comments which came in her ears till she reached the end of the hallway and walked out of the court. The door behind her was getting closed.

"Now another announcement." There was silence. "I now announce that the new commander will be, Nicolas Agnes." That was the last thing which she heard before the door closed and a tear slipped her eyes, after that she didn't stop until her feet reached the room and after she closed the door behind her, she started crying silently.

She wasn't able to produce any sound from her throat. She was feeling as her heart was being pierced through thousands of knives but being trapped in the soundless place, her voice wasn't able to go out. She was breaking inside but there was no one whom she could tell anything to. She looked around and still remembers the day when she got that room. No one really thinks about that day in which they are all helpless and it was that one day for Vivien, she never thought that one day she would lose everything along with her soul. The day when she got promoted to commander, she pledged that she will always protect her country but she was also snatched away from her. Everyone knew in the kingdom how much she loved her position but all of the sudden she doesn't have anything.

She clutched her head with her hands and shook her head. She wasn't ready to remember those beautiful dreams which had taken the route of a nightmare on the way. She wanted to forget everything and if possible she would rather be dead than seeing this day where everything of her, which she had earned, has become an ash.

Then her eyes fell on the large mirror, she stood up from there hurriedly and walked towards the mirror. She looked at herself in the mirror, her black hair which shone someday were all dull and her blue eyes which were twinkling someday, were out of shine now. She can't even remember the last day when she shone and she doesn't even remember the day when she got poisoned. Yes, she was poisoned, that is one of the greatest reasons that she had lost her strength and magic. When she discovered that she was poisoned it was already too late but even if she would have found about that early, she couldn't do anything because there is no cure for that.

"Vivien." She heard a very familiar voice. She looked at the closed door. "Open the door." After hearing his soft voice, she shook her head and was backing away while tears were falling down her eyes.

"Vivien." Her back hit the french window.

"Congratulations…" She held over the curtain as tightly as she could. "...Nicolas." She was trying her best to not sound broken.

"Don't be like that Vivien, open the door." She heard some loud knocking on the door but she didn't leave the place even one inch but was fixated over there only. Vivien looked at the light which was coming through the french window.

"I know you will make a better commander than me." She said with a sad smile.

"I don't want to. I don't want to become a commander. I just want to see you Vivien. Please open the door." He pleaded but her bleeding heart was not ready to see anyone, especially him. And that statement where he said he doesn't want to be a commander had made her anger boil. She looked at the door.

"Nicolas, leave from here. You have already gotten what you wanted, at the end of the road, I have nothing. Why are you still behind me?" She said while controlling the anger within her.

"What do you mean?" That was like oil in the fire. She looked away as if she was preventing herself from murdering someone, she clutched on the curtain tighter.

"I mean nothing, just leave me and never come back. Instead of coming over here, you better go and celebrate your victory somewhere else."

"What are you talking about?"

"Don't be innocent. You know what I mean. Just leave Nicolas, this door will not open anytime soon." Her voice was firm which made Nicolas scared inside.

"You are scaring me."

"Don't be scared, especially from me. I won't be in your way in the near future." Her voice was confident but Nicolas didn't like that. He again knocked on the door and tried to break the door but it was out of his power.

"Listen Vivien before you take the whole thing wrong. I admit that I wanted to take my revenge on you for sending me away to somewhere where my life was at risk but I can never hurt you or your dreams. They both are important to me." That statement made her feel more hurt.

"Just stop with that. If you really cared about that then you wouldn't have done that months ago with me." There was no response from the other side.

"Admit it, there is no way back. Just leave." She shouted and then coughed and at the end she also coughed some blood.

"Vivien, blame me all you want. But please let me see you. I am worried about you."

"No need Nicolas. No need. We have already parted our ways."

"Don't be like that Vivien, please, please, please let me in." After that she didn't hear any more voice from him.

She was feeling that her body had become lighter than before. She closed her eyes knowing that she is so much near to her dead end.

It was already night and still she didn't respond to any knock on her door, when she found that it was already sleeping time. She went over to her bed and looked at the ceiling. She put both of hand on the stomach as tears again started to drip down her eyes.

"I wish I could meet you…" In front of her eyes there was an image of Nicolas who was smiling brightly and had also made her heart skip a beat.

"Maybe in this life I can't see you before I die, but if there is another life then I really would like to see you. I really wish for that." With that she closed her eyes and slowly her breathing started getting imbalanced and soon enough Vivien herself stopped breathing.
