HOSPITAL
Gisella sat upright on the bed with her back relaxed and her gaze fixed in her novel she had. Her thoughts instinctively drifted off as the thought of Desmond hit her.
" I can't put Desmond at risk any longer." She mumbled with a furrowed brow. " I'm not able to protect myself and how am I to protect him?–I got to do something very fast about this but what?'Her thought hinted. "Think Gisel–think!" She cried, her eyes darted.
"Yes! " she exclaimed, her face lightened up. "I got this– I know what to do. Is better to stay away from him. That's the only way I can be sure of his saftey. And Dad?" She queried in her thoughts. "I hope I'm not too late"
She stuttered. Just then, a voice interrupted from the door. " Hello, Miss Gisel!– I can see you're already awake."
She instinctively looked up at the door and her lips curved in a faint smile.
" Yes, doctor."She answered.
" Good, I'm glad you're fine now." He stated with a smile. " I've already called your family. They'll soon be here for the final arrangements so that you can be discharged."
" Thank you so much,sir."
" Most welcome, dear. " He eluded. "Now, it's time for your daily routine check up" He stated as he glanced through his files. Gisela tilted her head with her gaze fixed on him.
"Let's see..." He instinctively began his check. Examing and cross checking his files. Gisel stared as she playfully clasped her fingers.
"Um, doctor? " She called and he responded. "Can I ask you something? " She went on. He glanced down at her from his files and smiled.
"Sure dear–Go ahead, I'm all ears" He answered as he surfed through the test results.
"For how long have I been here?– Have my father ever visited?" Her fixed gaze, expectantly searched through his face. The doctor instinctively paused and stared at her. He gave a faint smile as he settled beside her. Gisel's eyes just followed his movement.
He gently took her hand in his and brushed the other hand through her hair.
" Don't worry so much about that, dear– what's important now, is that, you're safely back. Which was everyone's prayer " He chuckled and Gisel forced a smile.
"Thank,you"
"Good–That's my girl. Now, et dome rest,I'll leave you, now" He elided as he sauntered to his feet. She tilted her head in approval and laid back in bed. He thoughts instinctively drifted off again as she stared at the doctor's back while he exited the room. Just then, Desmond trod in, buming into the doctor in the process.
"Oh, so sorry, sir" He apologized which drew Gisel's attention.
"No need to apologize–You can go ahead, she's already awake." He smiled. Desmond bowed and made way for him.
"Thank you " Desmond stuttered as he trod out.
" Hey, Desmond, you came", she exclaimed with a smile as sauntered over to her end.
" Yes dear. I heard you'll be discharged today so I came to see you.", he replied, settling beside her.
" That's so nice of you dear."
" Anything for you, Gisel." He stated. His eyes rested on hers and he felt his heart skip, mesmerized by her beauty. He was completely 'lovestruck'
Gisella felt uneasy with those looks in his eyes. She blushed as she tried to avoid eye contact and fidgeting with her fingers. "Um, Desmond? " she called which drew him back to reality.
"Hub?–Oh. Sorry about that" he stammered as he looked down and away from her. She smiled.
"Desmond? " She called again which made him looked up at her. "I got something to tell you" She announced.
"Go, ahead–What is it?"
She stuttered. " I heard everything you said the last time you visited while I was in coma" Desmond stared at her with wide eye and a fixed gaze, totally marveled. Gisel just stared at those beautiful electric blue eyes of his, lovestruck.
"I wish I could give an answer now because I love you too but I can't. " She mumbled in her thoughts. " I ought to stay away from you for now. That's the only way I can assure your safety from Natasha." She gave a faint sigh.
"Humm– humm–hum!!" a voice interrupted, drawing their attention to the door.
"Oh, my God, Natasha." Gisel mumbled with hunch shoulders and a shrink back. Natasha approached with a broad smile.
" Hey, I'm I missing something or interrupting?" she teased. Desmond fidgeted, a faint , sheepish smile dazzled on his lips.
" Hi, Aunty– you're here. I was just leaving when you came" He smiled. "May I be excused "
" Oh, so soon?–Why? She queried.
" Um.." He stuttered "I need to rush to the supermarket to get something for my mum."
" Alright, I understand but do visit at home the next time, okay?'
" Okay, I sure will, Ma' –See you later, bye."
" Bye", Natasha exclaimed with a smile. He instinctively turned to Gisel and waved with a broad smile.
" See you later, Gisel." She nodded with a faint smile which was actually forced.
" Alright, take care." She stuttered, knowing fully well, what the look on Natasha's face meant. They stared at his back while he glided out of the ward.Just when he exited, Natasha's lips curved in a half smile as she shook her head.
" I see, your "Prince Charming" came to see you at the hospital before your discharge. " She chuckled. Gisel gazed a wolfish glare.
"Such a nice piece of a love story you got there but I don't think this love story will have a "happy ever after" ending." She sighed, caressing her hair which she instinctively shoved it off.
Natasha chortled, "Can't wait to watch it turn into flames" She exclaimed. Gisel glared at her with a pained gaze.
" What is your problem, Natasha?–Why can't you just let me be!" She shouted, almost in tears. Natasha glanced at her and leaned closer.
"Me?–Let you be?" She chuckled as she straightened her back. "Not until I see you all perish!" She roared with a cold tone. Gisel stared at her, blank. Her lips trembled as tears rolled down her eyes.
" What do you want from my family and I, tell me, please" She cried. Natasha chuckled and leaned over to her ear
" Your life" She whispered. Gisella instinctively felt numb as she stared at her with a pale face, speechless.
" Why that face.?" She laughed. " Are you surprised?" She queried with a broad smile. "Don''t be dear, its called revenge." Her gaze became more roguish. Gisel simpered amidst tears.
" Revenge? –For what and why bring Desmond in?" She asked.
" You'll understand sooner or later dear. For now?" She scoffed " let's just leave things the way they are and enjoy the ride. Get ready, we'll be leaving here in no time. I'm off to see the doctor." She chuckled and trod off. Gisel stared at her back, desolated. Tears streamed down her eyes.
Natasha suddenly paused at the door and stared back at her.
" Ops " She howled. "One last thing, bare in mind that anyone who dares to interfere will also die just like your father and that's a promise.", she exclaimed and dashed out.
" Die like my father?" She mumbled with a furrowed brow. " Nat!–what do you mean by that!?she cried as she sped to the door but she was far gone.
Gisella crunched to the floor with her. " Dad?–Oh, God!!, this can't be happening!! Why!? She wailed.
All along, Gina stood at the door and heard everything. She sped in on hearing Gisella's loud screams only to meet her so devastated.
"Oh, Gisel!!" She cried and instinctively hugged her. The tears she fought back, freely streamed down. " Its okay, Gisel, i'm here–It's okay ", she uttered in tears.
" Why– Aunty–Why, should this keep happening to me?" She trembled in tears. " I warned him but he wouldn't listen– Oh, God.!"
" Calm down, dear or you just recovered." She consoled. "Here, come, let me help you get your things."
Gina slowly moved her to the bed and helped her pack her things. Gisella sat beside her numb with tears rolling down her eyes. Within some few minutes, Gina was done.
" I'm done, let's go dear.."
Gisella nodded blankly, taking the lead. Gina followed her out of the ward, distressed.
