[STARR]
Another bright and sunny morning again, I woke up from my excessive and dripping sweat from broken aircon in my room. I had to use the inexpensive low-cooling electric fan and it was so slow even though I set it up to its max settings.
Caramel, my brown little puppy was still sleeping in her bed. She's used to the heat. As I admire her from my bed being all fuzzy wuzzy in her little cozy bed and let out my hand to brush and stroke her fire that was obsessively satisfying to the touch.
I was still a dazed from waking up that my hair was poofy and messy because I had a vivid dreams in my sleep last night. Cause I kept dreaming of a actor that I can't remember.
All I remember, was that I recognized him somewhere in a famous movie, perhaps. But I can't pin point what movie in where I watched it from. And I was oblivious to the fact that I never remember them when I get up.
I felt something wet on my leg. I tilt my head to my leg as
I noticed it was my drool that was dripping down my mouth. I wiped it with a tissue that was on the stool right next to my bed. Then I saw a stain that looked transparent that dirted my white pillow. It was my saliva. eww. I was grossed out by the wet that I examined it.
Yuck. I was disgusted by my own doing. I scratched my head and wondered who was that guy again. who was he again I thought repeatly like a broken record.
Oh well, who cares. I let go of my lingering thoughts and I put the dirty pilow case in the washing machine and did my laundry.
I'm not the type to watch tv, that's why I don't know whose popular and who aren't . My mom and Aunts are the ones who are into those cheesy tv series.
I hear it. The blasting of the sound system that was playing the OST of Crash Landing With You that my mom played.
Explosion. That's what my hair looks like at the moment. Even my eardrums have exploded because of the loud volume of the music.
I closed my ears to save my hearing. Being deaf is hard.
My mom keeps paying OSTs of korean telanovella and other dramas like it's a national anthem. I won't be surprised that our neighbors aren't deaf yet from the booming music. I wake up in the middle of the night, just to see them binge watching and sometimes I saw them having a movie marathon.
But other times, I go with the flow of their thing. Cause that's how we bond as a family. And, I have no power against them knowing that my brother and my father are joining in. If that's the case, who am I to stop them.
I went downstairs to the living room. My mom called me from the kitchen. "NING,"
That was my nickname. Ning-Ning cause I was believed to be a bright kid just like the name my father gave me~Starr.
"Watch the frying of the meat. It might be burnt to crisp," My mother said.
"I'm just gonna pay for the shipping fee for the package that was boxed by my friend slash a avid fan of the drama One Last Love," she said in a giddy tone, she rushed to the gate and signed papers for the delivery.
One Last Love. Hmm, that sounds oddly familiar.
I was zoning out. I didn't noticed that the hot oil popped from the pan and splattered on my arm.
"Oh my, pig of a chicken," I hissed and shouted in pain. I rub the swollen spot of my burn and my mom worried as she rushed to my side
"What were you thinking so much about ah, see you're burned," she reached leaned to the cabinet to get the vinegar and washed the burn on my arm. "Ling, watch over the sisig," my mother instructed my younger sibling.
"You're lucky, that its just a small burn," she blew the wound to soothen the pain. "Mom, don't baby big sis too much, she might get used to it," Ling remarked. Even though she was just a year younger than me.
"You are just jealous," I said back to her.
"You are just jealous," Ling repeated my words in a mocking tone.
"What's wrong with you two, you are both turning twenty you still act like dogs and cats," She flared at us.
We both went silent. Then, we heard the ring of the doorbell. We exchanged gazes.
Who might that be. I wondered. Cause no one would often visit us. The only people who would were Mrs. Lily and Mr. Robert who was the captain of our district.
My father opened the door and out came the mother and daughter who were, my Aunt Jullette and my cousin Catlyn. They came to visit us from the City of Guagua.
All of us were suprised for their sudden visit because their hometown is far from ours.
They just commuted their way here. They were soaking wet from their sweat cause of the sun's heat. I invited them to seat on the sofa that provides shade so that they won't feel the harsh heat.
"Thank you, Ning," Aunt Linda said.
I closed the front door and Ling closed the open windows. I turned on the aircon in the living room. Yes, we have an aircon in the living room. And, our house is a bit big.
But our house is not a mansion. It just the right size for us. The house is paid already by my father. He was retired civil engineer that worked in Saudi in the past.
And, he invested on the land when my mom was pregnant with Luna.
When the land was fully-paid and the house was construction was finished, we went back to the Philippines.
