We travel town after town and we arrived to this town called Seraphina. There is something different from this town since it is too quiet. It is good when a town is peaceful but not in the Southern region. The only lively places are the guild and the tavern. Cayden and I sat at the corner table of the tavern. People are flooding the whole place waiting for the posting of the job requests.
We've been adventurers for a month now and every mission we are taking, I couldn't hide the face that I am happy. As soon the job requests were posted, Cayden and I always taking the A-class missions since it is the easiest way to earn money. It is also rarely to see this A-class mission around that is why we are always moving town after town. But I guess that there is no A-class mission as well in this town.
The town Seraphina was really an odd place. I heard that the governor of the town is a corrupt Count but he knows how to protect his people. Therefore, the people of this town don't report his corruption. It is indeed difficult to identify the corrupt officials if the people itself are protecting them. Since, I am a current adventurer I would not associate to this problem. Instead, I am going to focus to my current job.
"Milady, unfortunately there is no A-class mission in the board. There are only B-class." Cayden said.
"You know what Cayden; I am trying to hide the fact that I am noble. So, quit saying 'milady', call me Silvy instead." I said.
"You said that, so don't complain later, okay Silvy?" Cayden said.
"Finally."
"But you are my master in the first place." Cayden added.
"We are in a team now and I am not your master currently. Only call me milady if needed, do you understand? Or you don't since you have a little brain." I said.
"It's better to have a little brain than being a completely dufus." He answered.
"So, you are calling me a dufus now?" I jolted.
"So, you did understand, I thought you didn't because you have a little brain." He rephrases what I said.
Lately, Cayden is getting more annoying now. Yes, he can say whatever he wants but to the extent that he is actually making a fool out of me.
We took a B-class mission and this mission is to become escorts to the daughter of the Count. She is about to visit the kingdom of Taj and meet her fiance which is a son of a marquis. Our job is to be her escort until she reaches the town where her fiance is going to meet her. Well, no one wanted to take the mission since the requirements are absurd, the escorts are supposed to be handsome and beautiful.
What kind of fetish does this stupid girl has. It is a B-class mission but it pays a lot of money since we have to travel far. We will actually earn twenty gold coins from this job.
We went to the mansion of the count and we were told that if we don't satisfy the qualification, we are not going to get the job. Who said that we don't meet it? I removed the concealing magic that hides my face and I told Cayden that he should removed his. The count suddenly approved us. He told me that we should show our faces while travelling.
Showing our faces while travelling? Isn't that absurd? Why would we show our faces while travelling? Well, that is supposed to be twenty gold coins.
The next day, the count told us to wear something more elegant so that we can grab the attention while escorting his daughter. So, the escort thing is just to show off that his family actually produces beautiful people. What an asshole? But we need that money so we couldn't possibly choose another option. Our money is left to ten pieces of silver coins which is just enough for our whole day expenses including the bed space in the tavern. Since we don't have enough money to buy clothes, I demanded the count to at least provide decent clothes for us. It is a two days travel so at least they should provide us two set of clothes.
The count did provided the clothes and told us that we can keep it. Like I predicted, of course we are going to keep it, it is just a minimal compensation for exposing our faces anyway. Since, we are always wearing our hood every time we are entering the tavern, people might find us weird upon seeing our faces from leaving.
The day before the departure arrived, we wore the clothes that was provided and of course I tried to fix my appearance. Besides, I am a noble myself. As soon we step down the staircase of that tavern, people are staring at us.
"Hey, this is the key from that room." I handed the key to the lady who is managing the tavern.
"I'm sorry milady but how did you acquire this key?" She asked.
"Are you really stupid or what? Of course, I got it from you. I wouldn't handing it over if I didn't, right?" I sarcastically answered.
"Come one now Silvy, she is just confused that she didn't recognized us." Cayden said. Then he looked at the woman and explained everything, "Well, miss we are the same people whom you let stay at that room. We are the hooded people remember. Our mission requires our faces to be shown that's why we are wearing like this."
The woman suddenly realized that it was us. "OH! You are the couple, right? Well, I didn't expect that both of you will be look so stunning without your hoods on. No wonder the count accepted you both to do the job." The lady said.
"Well… we are not couple." Cayden corrected.
"The hell with you to align me with that jerk." I protested.
"Just shut up now miss Silvy." Cayden smiled with grin on his face.
We left the tavern while arguing a lot. It became our daily routine to argue at least ten times a day.
When we reach the gate, the guards also were amazed. We are indeed, the escorts but the count also let his guards to come along. There is a captain as well leading the way.
While we are travelling, the count's daughter keeps on poking her face to have a glimpse with Cayden. Well, Cayden is indeed handsome but I couldn't understand why they find him attractive. For me, he is just Cayden my slave.
When we reach the border town, I was so excited to enter another kingdom. Yes, I've been to other kingdoms but my reason upon visiting them is to conquer them but this time it is different. The border gate guards are strict and they didn't seem to don't mind our appearances. But that is just alright, we don't want a lot of attention anyway.
Both Cayden and I handed our guild cards and the captain of the guard pay our toll fees. He should be since we don't have money left with us since we already spend it.
After crossing the border, the captain hauled-up and announced at we are going to sleep in the side of the road. I couldn't blame him since the lady doesn't want her carriage to move faster. The reason behind that is she just wanted to stare Cayden as much as possible. Silly her, now she just has to sleep on her tent. Her maids cooked her nice food while Cayden and I have to hunt for a rabbit to eat. While we are cooking, the captain came to us.
"My lady told me to bring you this food to eat and you should share it between both of you." I looked at him and looked again to the lady. Her facial expression saying that I shouldn't be getting the food.
I sighed, "You should be honest captain, that lady of yours actually wanted only Cayden to have it and not me. You are just telling me to share the food between us but the truth is that food is meant for Cayden and not me." The captain sighed; it means that I am right.
"Then you should hide it while eating." The captain said.
I took that food and shared it with Cayden while eating it in front of the lady. Cayden teases me that I am sharing his food but I showed him who the real boss is.
"If you really going to do that, then I command you to feed me gently." I said.
Cayden suddenly responded to my command and he is indeed gently feeding me in front of that bitchy lady. While Cayden is busy disgusted to his action.
"The heck with you Silvy, why are you doing this?" Cayden said.
"I just want to show you who is the real boss." I teased.
"It's unfair, you are using this submissive spell again. Well, from what I know, you are also irritating the count's daughter. If I don't really know you, then I am thinking that you actually wanted me." Cayden teases back. I suddenly felt goose bumps. I looked at him and he is pretending that he is enjoying it.
I push Cayden away and spits the food out. It is disgusting while seeing that face while I am eating. Cayden laughed so hard while the food is all over the place. In the end, we both eat the rabbit that we caught.
Cayden and I actually grew more closer and we acted like we are friends more than being a master and slave. He laughs now and his face grew a little livelier compared to the first time I met him. We throw jokes to each other and we tease each other. I thought that he will be a burden to my adventure but being with him now actually makes my adventure more interesting.
