Synopsis
Cycling around town and either throwing paper on the porch or leaving 'em on a mat. This is the story of a paperboy first-time jobbing and you probably won't expect anything interesting to happen. But well, things don't work out as smoothly as one would think! I mean, it's the first day at work and all you do is bike around leaving newspaper in front of stranger's doors.. So, what could possibly go wrong...? This super short story is based off a song from Powfu called "The Story Of The Paperboy" Please support him! This will also only have like 2 or 3 chapters as I really don't see how it should be any longer than that lmao. It's not supposed to be a completely new story.

Chapter 1 - Paperboy

While pedalling through the cold temperatures, he put on his gloves. His hands were freezing and they still did, but at least he had put something on now. The boy was currently on his way home, as he had to pick up newspapers to finally get to work.

"Shoot, it's so damn cold outside..! I should've put on even thicker clothing. Even forgot my scarf", he said to himself, his breath shaking as he's still freezing. Only a mile more until he arrived at home. The roads were full of parked cars and traffic was basically non-existent. Centimeters of thick snow was everywhere and sometimes even covered up whole cars.

It was december, not too far away from christmas so the boy was used to this weather. But still, he was unprepared. "I'll just get everything once I'm home", he said while picking up the pace of his bike. No traffic, no rules to obey.

About ten minutes later he parked his bike next to the door. He grabbed his keys, unlocked the door and was greeted by multiple heaters scattered across the house. Closing the door, he felt the warmth crawling up his body in an instant. It was so fast his body shivered for a second as it couldn't adapt to the temperatures so quickly.

The boy took off his shoes, hurried in his room and grabbed even more clothes. Then, he was speeding into the living room, greeting his mom and dad and almost immediately left the house again. All that while putting on thicker clothing.

He grabbed the stacks of paper and went outside. "Oh boy, oh boy. Here I go I guess."

Once again, he put on his gloves and hopped on the bike. The next 2 hours he would be spending spreading sheets across town, going from row to row and block to block. He has to work from 2pm to 4pm every wednes- and saturday from now on.

For that, he gets about 25 bucks a month which is already more than all the other mini jobs he could do pay, so he can't really complain.

The boy spent the first 15 or 20 minutes figuring out the process of leaving the paper and just getting used to work. It was quite enjoyable but soon got boring. Just 30 minutes in he already wanted to stop since it was boring as hell. He already hated this job.

He took a right pedalling into a small alley leading to another block. And sighed. "I need music. Or at least some sort or entertainment while doing this.."

So he started humming. Only then he started to notice birds singing and the sound of the wind. It's as if these noises were not perceived by his mind a second ago.

"Da, da-da-da,

da, da, da, da-da-da, da,

da, da, na-na-na,...

I, I,

I fee like I am..."

His humming quickly turned into singing.

He stopped in front a few houses, grabbed some paper and left them on a mat. Then he moved from house to house again repeating the process. The only time he stopped to leave the paper was when the porch was out of his range. Just throwing it on somewhere near it would be disrespectful.

A good hour in, he now slowly enjoyed his job. It was easy, he could enjoy nature and listen to music or just sing on his own.

At first, he only planned on doing it for the money but now it's something different. 'It's kinda fun?' But his job also required him to travel down roads he's never been down before. And these roads were actually filled with traffic.
