The bickering between his parents was loud and clear even before he stepped on the front porch. He wondered if Oliver had heard any part of it before he drove off, setting another round of embarrassment and unhappiness through Vukan. His mother definitely seemed to be on his side this time around, but his father wasn't having it as usual.
The woman, who never challenged the man when Vukan was there, would often stand a ground in his absence for fear of disrespecting him before his son.
"We need to give him time", his mother clearly said before Vukan even touched the door knob.
His father snorted derisively and replied, "He has had all the time in the world and still done nothing! He has had support, love, affection and opportunities and spat in their faces!"
