Jordyn's POV
Damien and I step off the train, bags in hand, and look into the distance of where Crystal River University was.
"There it is," Damien says.
"Our rise to magical prowess," I say.
"Prowess? Really?" Damien laughs.
"Don't laugh!! It was the only thing I could come up with!!" I tell.
We move towards the exit of the train station and outside into Oakheart City. I didn't watch where I was going and knock into some luggage in the middle of the walkway.
"Shit!! Are you okay?!?" Damien asks, dropping his bag to help me up.
"I'm alright. Why the hell is these bags just sitting here?!?" I ask, brushing myself off.
"HEY!! YOU KNOCKED OVER MY BAGS!!!" a voice says.
We look up and groan at who was coming over.
"Alexia Brown." we groan.
Alexia Brown is one of the other daughters of the wealthy Brown family. Everyone knows who she is. It was good for me that we have never met, so she doesn't know my family name.
"You shouldn't have left your bags just lying around, it's a hazard!!" I tell.
"I can leave my bags where I damn, please. Besides, my butler is running late to pick them up, so we just left them. Need to fire that man." she says.
"Whatever. Let's just get to the university, Jordyn." Damien tells, making his way towards the buses.
"Wait a minute. You both are going to Crystal River? HA!! I guess the school is lowering their standards!!" the girl with Alexia says.
"Come Felicia. The school needed to expand. So what if they let other people in?" the boy asks.
"You're too kind for your own good Jesse. Crystal River shouldn't entertain the poor as they do and let disgraces in." Alexia tells, smirking as she looks at us.
I got angry at that. My parents opened the school for everyone to come and hone their craft, whatever they choose to do.
'I do know a spell to put her in her place. Let's see her try and get her luggage after this.' I tell.
I put on a fake smile and turn to Damien.
"Come on. We'll be late for the ceremony." I tell.
He nods and we move towards the university. I smirk as I wave my hand behind me towards their luggage.
"Volant," I mutter.
I turn my head back and smirk as I hear squeals, cries, and gasps of those three.
"If you hadn't done that, I would have," Damien tells as we get further away from the scene.
"They deserved it. Now let's get to the ceremony without being delayed any further." I tell.
We make our way to the gate of the university and see a bunch of other kids walking inside. We walk in step with them and move into the grand hall. We took some seats right in the middle and waited for everyone to calm down as the head speaker taps the mike at the podium.
"Hello new and returning students. For all the new faces, I am Professor Devdan Omaberos. It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to Crystal River University." he says.
His eyes sweep over everyone and lands on me for a brief second. He nods to me and I nod back as he keeps going.
"There you losers are!!" a voice says.
Damien and I turn to see Alexia and her friends standing in front of three empty seats beside us. They were carrying their luggage and looked disheveled.
"I guess that your butler never showed up," I say, smirking.
"I know you did this you little bitch!!" Felicia growls.
"I have no idea what you are talking about. Can I say I love what you're doing with your hair? The windswept look is doing it for you." I say, my smirk growing wider.
I could see them fuming with rage and was going to say something when Professor Omaberos coughs, getting our attention. I blush when I see that we had everyone looking at us and duck my head.
"Ms. Brown. Please take a seat with your associates." Professor Omaberos tells.
"Yes sir. Sorry, sir," she tells sheepishly.
They set their bags down on the floor and take a seat next to us.
"Thank you. Anyway, our founder and dean will address you before we dismiss you. Dean." Professor Omaberos says.
My dad walks up to the podium and nods to Professor Omaberos. I meet his gaze and he smiles. I did a funny face at him and see his smile grow bigger. My dad has always hated public speaking, even though he had to speak to at least two hundred plus teenagers every year, so I would help him calm down at each one. I would always sit in the crowd and make goofy faces at him so he could smile and try to muffle a laugh as to see improper.
"Students. I am Dean Johnathan Blackwell. It is with great pleasure to welcome you all to Crystal River University. I can not wait for this year to start and get to know all of you. It is with great pride that my daughter will be following in mine and her mother's footsteps, by enrolling here." he tells.
I zone out with the rest of his speech since I've heard it before. Damien nudges me out of my stupor after about five minutes and smiles at me.
"Come on, daydreamer. We're going to get our rooms." Damien tells.
I roll my eyes at him and went to pick up my bags when I didn't see them there. I shake my head and snap my fingers.
"Te ipsum revelare," I say.
My bags do reveal themselves, but they were floating above me. Another snap was heard from behind me and they started falling towards me. I brace myself for the impact but it never came. I look up and saw that they were floating in front of me. I grab them as the magic left them and looked to Damien.
"Don't look at me. I didn't do it." Damien tells.
I glance over to my dad, who nodded to me.
"Come on. Let's just go and find our dorm." I sigh.
We move towards the doors hearing giggles and laughs as we leave knowing Alexia and her lackeys did this. We finally get to the dorm master and grab our dorm rooms, keys, and map of the school grounds even though I didn't need it.
"Alright, we'll go get our dorm rooms set up and meet up at the cafeteria, okay?" I ask.
"Can do. I'll meet you there, say 5:00?" Damien asks.
"5:00 it is," I say.
We go our separate ways, but not without exchanging numbers. It takes me less than ten minutes to get to the girl's dorm building. I immediately go to the elevator to my dorm room and go to knock not knowing if my roommate was in. The door was thrown open and I back up as a girl storms out yelling and cursing. Another girl had come to the door with a very big and very red slap mark on her face, rubbing it.
"Damn that hurt," she whines.
"I would think getting slapped in the face would hurt," I say.
"Sorry, you had to see that. Who are you again?" she asks.
"I'm Jordyn your roommate," I say, holding out my hand
"I'm Jasmine. Jasmine Baker." Jasmine tells, shaking my hand.
She moves out the way and let me in. I see that she took the left side of the room and I was fine with that. I move over to the right side and set up my stuff as Jasmine sat back on her bed.
"You need any help?" she asks.
"I have a poster I wanted to put up. Think you can help me with that?" I ask.
She gets up as I take out the poster and helps me put it above my bed. Once it was where I wanted it, we backed up and looked at it.
"I didn't know that you were gay," Jasmine says.
"What makes you say that?" I say, raising an eyebrow at her.
"You seemed to give off the, "I'm super straight", vibe," she tells.
"I'm super gay just like you," I tell.
"Used your gaydar?" Jasmine asks.
"No. The girl you had in the room was enough evidence." I tell.
"Right. Sorry about that. She's my ex wanting to get back together after she cheated. She doesn't like to be told no." Jasmine tells.
"Her loss," I tell, dropping down on my bed.
I look at my phone and see it was 4:45.
"Hey, you want to come with me to the cafeteria? I'm meeting up with my friend Damien for lunch." I tell.
"Sure. I don't have anything better to do," she tells.
We grab our keys and make our way out the door, locking it behind us and moving towards the cafeteria, talking along the way. We get inside around 5 and look around to see where Damien was.
"Jordyn!! Over here!!" a voice yells.
We see Damien waving over to us and I pull her over to him. I introduce them to each other as we sit down and grab something to eat.
