I just knew that if I ever got the chance to hurt them the same way they hurt me ...I wouldn't hesitate and that scared me ...
"C'mon June ! I want to see you so bad"
"But I'm busy, Sebastian, how 'bout you focus on your work ?"
He sighed and ran one hand through his hair. He was aching to see her . A glimpse of her was going to make his day even though work was till the top of his head .
She was hard to handle . Too hard. She was proving to be a challenge and he loved challenges .
He leaned back against his chair, "alright, baby"
June secretly smiled and hang up.
"That little head of yours June ! What the bloody hell is your problem ?! What busy are you talking about ? You're literally talking to yourself about yourself !"
"I'm sorry that you don't consider that work, me ? This is the busiest I've been" June brought the glass of wine to her lips and felt the liquid wash over her throat .
It has been two days since she returned to New York but she still haven't left the house . She wanted to plan everything carefully .
"If it wasn't for your ego I would've suggested you call him back" the past middle age woman sat on the leather chair and crossed her legs mirroring June .
June smirked, " And I would've refused the suggestion"
June looked at her aunt. She wasn't a living copy of her mother but she was certainly resembling her in some features. The same almond wide eyes, the protruding chin and plump lips .
A delicate diamond necklace was gracefully wrapped around her neck . Diamonds . It was a staple in every woman in the Brookstein family . They were what they liked to call it 'white money' .
June followed the ritual passed from generations, whenever you enter a diamond store you never leave empty handed . It was a shame if someone spotted you or you were caught without any branded bag . Your reputation was stained forever .
"Same burning gaze...just like your mother"
June looked up from her wine glass and continued playing with her rings .
"What's next ?"
"What would you like to have June ?"
"Everything"
"You don't want to see me anymore ?" Alex said as he poured her more wine .
"Busy, you know starting from the bottom is hard"
Lie number 1500..
He thought of inviting her for lunch, maybe she could spill something but June wasn't any girl and food was not enough...maybe diamonds ?
June watched Alex carefully, examining the god in front of her . He was irresistible. He had it all, the looks, the charisma, the money...he didn't lack anything. Except a woman .
"Are you avoiding looking into my eyes?" He stated confidently trying to get her uncomfortable .
June let her knife and fork on either side of the plate and looked into his eyes, "I don't avoid looking away from your eyes so I wouldn't see you..I look you in the eye and I don't see you"
Alex leaned back, he admired her . She was a woman of strength . Her confidence...that confidence. She almost seemed arrogant but who knew her close enough knew that she was just too sure of what she brought to the table .
People didn't have a choice but to respect her.
"So how is your new work going on ?"
"Good . Better than I expected ." She paused and continued, "but you know it's-"
She couldn't say it's a family business. If he comes to know of aunt poll then there's a big chance he might know about what she tried to hide for long.
"June, let's be honest-"
June let out a laugh "Alex none of us were ever honest". She brought the glass to her lips and finished her wine with one gulp .
Stop June! Soft and gentle ...that's what aunt poll would've said ....
Alex sighed, he couldn't carry the conversation any further with her . "Come up at my place tonight ? We need to talk "
"Will wine be served ?"
"All the time."
A man in love is a man stripped of power ....
The sounds of June's heels echoed through the large church hall . She stopped a few steps away once she saw her aunt . She was kneeling down with her hands joined together .
"I mean I work-"
June paused as her aunt raised her voice slightly. June rolled her eyes.
She didn't dare move closer towards the cross. She knew people like her weren't supposed to be here . She wouldn't be granted forgiveness even if she prayed for thousand years .
She saw her aunt cross herself and stand up .
"Come closer"
"Aunt poll !"
"June, do what as I say"
June moved hesitatingly towards her aunt . "You're forcing me to do a lot of things I don't want"
"Your mother wouldn't want her daughter to forget how to pray" . She forced June to her knees, "June, remember as a Brookstein we all believe that everything we have is by the grace of God and we Shapiro be grateful "
"I am fucking grateful!"
"Don't you dare curse in this church again ! Do you hear me ?"
June bit her lip and nodded .
She closed her eyes, "how I'm going to be able to do all this by myself"
June settled herself in Sebastian's lap with her hands around his neck.
He placed butterfly kisses all over her neck while one of his hands played with her hair.
June let out a giggle, " how much did you miss me ?"
Sebastian acted as if he was thinking, " I don't think there is a way I can describe it but I know it's much larger than anything I've felt"
June smiled, "Don't do that"
"Do what exactly?"
I feel so bad for you baby ...
"Make me fall in love"
I mean like I feel bad for all the characters, don't you feel that too ? How's it ? Did you like it ? I hope you enjoyed it and comment what do you think of the characters now . Are you excited ? Afraid? Tell me and I'll see you in the next chapter !
Bye ❤️
