Chapter 6 - Red Dress

He was sure that the child was the kid who 'kissed' him six months ago. He was sure he couldn't be mistaken because his memories of people's faces were quite sharp. Especially the faces that made a bad impression in his life.

Kinsey shook his head quickly, then rubbed his eyes. He could not believe his eyes. It turned out that the robust child who traumatized him six months ago was a cute girl?

And the voice! What kind of angelic voice she had! Kinsey was too mesmerized with the girl's cuteness alongside the voice.

Unknowingly, Kinsey's feet walked closer to the girl and accidentally stepped on a branch that made a loud sound.

The girl stopped her singing and turned to look at him.

For a few moments, Kinsey could not move and felt himself being hypnotized by the girl's pair of eyes. He had never seen eye-color that beautiful before. What color is that? It looks like yellow, but it's also not one. Kinsey could see there was a crimson red around the girl's eyeballs.

The next instant, the cute little girl, smiled sweetly at him, taking his breath away.

"Hello. Are you lost?"

Kinsey frowned at this. Does the child not remember him?

Katie was used to getting up early. But today she woke up earlier than usual. Today was a special day, after all. From today onward, she is seven years old. Umbra had promised to take her up the mountain when she was seven years old. Katie couldn't wait to walk up the hill and stand on the peak to watch the view.

She was excited!

But before that, she had to fulfill her role as Katleen Morse - a sweet and obedient daughter. Therefore, today she will wear girls' clothes and dress up beautifully to please their parents' hearts.

Unfortunately, the Morse family did not have the funds to buy beautiful dresses, so Katie had little choice in choosing her clothes.

Katie decided to use the slightly worn white overalls. She was just about to change her clothes when she heard a knock on her door.

Katie opened the door in surprise because there was no one there. She tried to step outside when her feet kicked something.

There was a large brown box below her feet. Who put the cardboard box in front of her door? Katie asked in her heart.

Katie crouched down and opened the cardboard cover. Her eyes widened and glowed when she saw its contents.

Katie brought it into the room to change clothes right there and then.

Now Katie was wearing a red dress over the knee length with lace that adorned the lower circle of her skirt. There was a beautiful big ribbon behind her waist.

Katie didn't know what she looked like at the moment. But the red color was her favorite color, and she felt she was lovely by wearing this red dress.

She spun happily, making her skirt joined to fly along with her. The laughter of joy rang out of the room.

"Now you look like a member of the kingdom." a voice came from the window of her room. "You look like a princess."

"Umbra! Did you give this? Is this for me?"

"Hm. Your birthday present."

"Thank you," said Katie with a big smile showing a row of her peerless white teeth.

With one jump, Umbra entered her room through the window and sat on the floor.

"Come here. I'll arrange your hair."

Katie obeyed and sat with her back facing the young man.

With painstaking, Umbra divided her hair into two sides. He twisted it into a small bun over her shoulder.

"Done. The Morse will surely be enchanted by your appearance now. They will love you all over again when they see you."

"Really? How do I look?" Katie exclaimed enthusiastically.

"Beautiful," Umbra answered briefly.

Umbra was not a person who likes to praise. Even though there was something beautiful before the eyes, the Umbra always kept it in the heart. Because of this, the praise that comes from the mouth of the Umbra meant a lot to Katie.

Umbra came out the same way he entered. Not long after, her foster opened the door and made a teasing to their daughter.

"Where does this princess come from? She is so kind as to visit our humble home." joked her mother.

"Mom," Katie suddenly felt ashamed to hear her mother's praise.

Precisely what the Umbra said earlier, her parents seemed to fall in love with her for the umpteenth time. They loved her and spoiled her to the point they would do anything for her.

Although they could not provide toys or clothes that were beautiful, Katie wouldn't mind. Sometimes Umbra bought the luxury items for her.

Well, not all items that Katie wanted to have been given by her Umbra. Umbra loved her like a father loved his daughter but never wanted to spoil her with luxury goods.

Umbra wanted Katie to grow up as a tough girl and live happily in a low profile. At the same time, he also wanted Katie to live in luxury.

Because of that little by little, Umbra educated Katie on living as a humble child who was suffering but could also live well and not have an arrogant heart when she lived as the flame queen.
