Chapter 29 - Entrance Examination

Today was the audition day to enter the music majors class at Trinity School. This was also the first time Katie had come to New York.

The city was full of tall buildings and passing cars. Someone once told her that New York was the most populous metropolitan city in the world.

Initially, she did not believe it, now she saw it with her own eyes, she had to admit. This city was the crowdest place she had ever seen.

This was also the first time she has used contact lenses to cover the color of her amber eyes. Before this, she only wore opaque glasses to disguise the color of her eyes. But the older she gets, the amber color that getting darker like a crimson fire could not be hidden by ordinary glasses. Therefore from now on, she must use a bluish-black contact lens.

Luckily the audition was held inside the school hall. Therefore she did not need to worry that there will be birds flying around her.

Once entering the hall facing the examiners, Katie smiled broadly and gave off a positive aura. Even the inspectors were affected and returned her smile warmly.

Katie waited for the recorded CD to play on then she got ready to sing. Just as Katie opened her mouth and let out a beautiful voice, the examiners gasped in awe. After listening to prospective students from this morning, they did not find a distinctive or unique voice like that of Katie.

The sound was like a rough diamond that could still be polished to be even more valuable. Her voice was slightly hoarse and sexy, not to mention how she carried the song away was so drifting. It was evident that Katie really liked singing and really enjoyed it.

The examiners even forgot their judgment and closed their eyes while humming to accompany Katie. It felt like they were all in a music hall watching a solo performance of a professional singer.

What a rare gifted this girl had! Thought the judges.

Meanwhile, many pigeons and sparrows were coming flying around the roof of the school hall. There was even a rainbow right above the hall building. Everyone was amazed and stunned. They all took their camera to record this rare event.

Some directly post the videos to their respective social media. Strangely, before the video was read by a third party, their footage was blocked and forcibly removed.

Some took photos and post them directly on their account. The same thing happened. None of the posts were uploaded successfully.

A few minutes later, the birds flew away until they were no longer visible. The rainbow also blending with the sky slowly until it disappears without a trace. At the same time, video recordings and photos on each of their cellphones mysteriously disappeared.

Everyone was at once more excited. Various kinds of rumors spread around the school; some say the god of sun came to visit. Some say the end of the world had come, and the birds came to warn humans.

And many other ridiculous rumors spread. They told the event to people who have not seen this unique phenomenon. Most of them disbelieve and disregarding the story. The phenomenon was complete nonsense, after all.

Moreover, there were only a few people around the Trinity auditorium, and their evidence had also disappeared. In the end, the 'nonsense' rumor gradually passed, and the incident was forgotten.

Katie, who had finished her audition, walked out of the building proudly. She had never felt as light as this somewhere.

This city might be very crowded, even ten times noisier than Louisiana. But she felt comfortable as if this was indeed her fated place. Katie felt like she was at 'home' the same as when she lived in Louisiana.

Katie took a deep breath while closing her eyes. She was thrilled and looking forward to her reunion with his childhood sweetheart.

She just needed to wait for the results of her audition and go through the school days during her final year of study in her current school. After that, she would say 'Goodbye old life' and 'Welcome To New York'.

Satisfied looking at Trinity school, Katie walked out through the gate and called a cab.

She took a piece of paper in her sling bag. The paper contains an address.

Umbra told her that she had to meet this person to hear a further explanation on how to get rid of her 'curse'. And this person happens to live in New York.

Katie didn't want to waste any more time and immediately headed to an address printed on her paper.

She hummed joyfully along the journey while watching the view outside the cab's window.

What a wonderful day!
