The heat of the steak coupled with it's taste hit my tongue. My teeth clamped down as the juiciness of the steak joined in with the steak, i felt relaxed and satisfied, feeling the what tiredness i have disappear.
I take a swig of my wine while i ate the steak, feeling the taste of the steak intensify.
As i felt more and more of the steak's deliciousness, i started eating faster and faster, turning from slow paced to wolfing down the food i had. The others with me ate at a steady pace compared to me.
"Weird that they would just give this food on a random day." Nora said.
"Doesn't make sense, food like this is pretty costly to just randomly give out." She continued.
"I'd take this over the basic food any other day. Why question it? The academy is probably just giving treat to their mercs." Lennox interjected. Drinking some of the wine after.
"You're right, just feels odd though, very rare for them to just hand this out." Nora quickly stopped talking.
We all went back to silently eating our food. As time went on, more mercs started entering the cafeteria, filling up empty seats.
The ambience slowly went from faint chatter to constant and loud chatter as the cafeteria became nearly full. Looking up, more and more tables were being filled by mercenaries with full trays. Word got out i suppose.
The stream of mercs didn't stop. I kept eating my food, drinking periodically from the wine.
The tray that was once full was now half, i kept eating, not feeling full from it yet, the taste was delicious, hot and delicious, from the mashed potatoes to the steak to the wine, i felt like royalty as i ate.
"If you guys want more, there's still alot more in the bottle" Thalia said, filling up her own glass with the dark red wine.
Finishing my cup, Thalia started refilling it, until the wine was near the top.
"Thalia, where did you get this wine? It's pretty good." Stephen asked, gulping down an entire glass of it in front of us.
"Well," Thalia grabs Stephen's glass and starts refilling it. "I have my ways here. And i just wanted to treat my team to a good wine, this stuff is pretty expensive, so enjoy it while the bottle isn't empty yet." She briefly replied with a smile on her face.
The feast went on until there was no more food on the tray. I leaned back, satisfied with the meal. A delicious feast.
"That was good." Mary commented, "And with Thalia's wine, feels like the feast was a whole lot better." She added, emptying her cup after talking.
"Want one more?" Thalia neared the bottle to Mary's cup, raising it up to pour.
"No, I'm alright." She placed the bottle back down, going back to finishing what food she had left.
We drank more and more of the wine once our food was gone, drinking and drinking till the bottle was empty.
"Damn, that was good." Lennox said, sounding full.
"Now, were done eating what was a good ass meal fit for kings and queens. What now?" He continued.
"I guess we rest, nothing much to do now. We tried that simulation and got our hands on a delicious meal. If only Sebastian was here, he could get a whole tray of this." Stephen replied.
"Don't worry. I'll get a bottle just for him."
We stood up from our chairs to leave, our trays were empty and the bottle was as well. A feast.
"Alina do you know Sebastian's status the last time you checked up on him?" Stephen asked.
"He's stable, that's all i know, but he's healing faster with the extra treatment he was getting. Those insurgents hit him hard with that explosive compared to us." She responded.
"Speaking of Insurgents," Stephen cleared his voice. "Alliance is slowly bleeding out insurgent groups, what does that mean for us?" Stephen asked.
We stayed silent, thinking of an answer but incapable of coming up with one.
"Well, more will probably come up no matter what right?" I answered, breaking the silence in the group.
"Probably, either that or we get less insurgent related matters, fighting for more internal things like business or something, who knows." Stephen replied back.
The group stayed silent as we returned.
Inside, a silent sight, cold and empty. I was full from the meal, odd to be given on a random day.
We went for our rooms, bidding each other byes or goodnights to each other.
Inside my room, it was cold and empty just like the outside. Clueless on what to do now. On the side of the bed i started pondering. What to do what to do?
A single thought came up, my vision, is it working now or not?
Positioning myself on the bed, i closed my eyes, concentrating on trying to get a vision.
As time went on, a glow of light shined in the dark of my sealed eyes.
The image became clearer and clearer until i finally understood it. The one i was looking through was inside a vehicle, a shotgun rested alongside a helmet on the merc's lap.
"Told ya the shotgun was good to bring." The merc talked, a female voice.
"Yeah, good call on it, if only that one guy didn't signal the others we could've gotten out clean." The merc turned her head to someone else on the vehicle, a man with his helmet also on his lap looked at her with a disappointed face, a patch of blood was present on the chest part of his armor.
"Calm down, with the new armor the academy gave us we got more protection, along with a cool gas mask, we can take more hits than before. And come on, i just bought the shotgun, a little test run won't be so bad. " She responded.
"Yeah, still good call on that. How far are we from the academy?" The man turned his head to the driver's seat.
"About 10 minutes or so."
"Great, i wanna eat. Haven't eaten since we got on that mission." He leaned his head back to rest.
"Same here. Oh, you guys also up for a game of cards or console?" She asked. A mix of yeses followed after.
The merc leaned back as well, looking to the seat in front of her.
As i watched on, the vision ended. What i once saw was now gone, back to seeing the black nothingness.
