Chapter 95 - A Blockade in Front of Victory

It was silent again, what was once a loud echoing battleground was now an eerily quiet area.

Justin and Scott's team stepped out of the stairwell.

"Good job, we got 3 more floors to take out. Same as before." After speaking, they returned back into the stairwell, slowly making their way up the flight of stairs.

Onto the ramp, we lined up, moving against the side of the ramp's railing going up. Our weapons were raised upwards, waiting for an enemy to try and take us out while above. The ones that were hit earlier returned, cautiously making their way back to the line. The third was now the next target. Shots rang out form our line as a few fired up. Shortly after, a few mercenaries left, they tried the same tactic as earlier.

Wonder if i can try using manually using this vision thing? I sealed one eye, forcefully bombarding my mind with thoughts of the way up and where the enemy mercs can be.

After thinking for some time, an image formed up in my mind, mostly blurred but still can be made out. From the vision, the person stood behind what appeared to be a pillar. Peeking out, i got a view of the area, there were none near the concrete railing. There were a few stationed near the corner of the entranceway of the stairs. My vision panned to cars and pillars with other mercs taking cover behind them. I opened my up, now with some intel on where some were at.

Before we could lean against the end of the ramp, gunshots rang out, quickly stopping.

What happened? I shut one of my eyes again, this time thinking of the stairs. Another blurred image formed, vaguely resembling the stairwell. What appeared to be a few figures raising their hands descended back down, turning the stairwell empty again. Shit, they got Justin and Scott's team.

Guns up and sneaking forward, we got to the end. We began positioning ourselves against the railing, to raise our guns and cover fire.

We looked at the mercenary closest to the edge, with one hand he raised 3 fingers, then 2, then 1.

We started firing once again, the team ran up while we shot, i remembered the positions of the mercenaries. Showing as little of my head as possible i aimed towards where they were, waiting for them to expose themselves to shoot. Hitting legs, arms, or heads, i got 3. As i finished, it was our turn to run upwards with the team above already covering fire. Above was more shooting on both sides, mercenaries begin falling on both sides. As time went on our numbers dwindled while i helped fight. Bullets nearly hit me while i stayed behind another thin pillar, feeling shots pass me.

Can i still do this vision thing while under pressure? I shut my left eye, focusing my thoughts on where they're shooting from, imagining the layout and the guns.

another blurred image, though this time it was more difficult to comprehend. I was facing towards the parking lot, flashes periodically blinded my sight. but with each shot it matched the gunshots that neared me and my teammates. I found one of them. As i viewed, the merc panned away, facing back as they started reloading.

An opportunity was now given, from the corner, i peeked my rifle out, now eagerly waiting for the enemy merc to finish reloading.

A small portion of the merc's body stepped out of cover, a pull of the trigger and the merc was taken out, leaving the floor and down the ramp.

After, i focused on the others, shooting once more on where they hid. While i did, i felt multiple jabs strike my chest, throwing me to the ground, grunting in pain. I got hit, i fucking got hit. I raised my hand up, getting back up while my chest ached from the pain.

I headed back town, sprinting down the ramp while the echoes of gunfire became more and more faint as i descended.

Down on the 1st floor, i headed to the flag, the mercenaries we beat earlier stood next to it, waiting for the round to end. I can see light flashes from the building as the gunfight continued on. While i watched, 2 other mercenaries sprinted down towards the flag.

The gunfire quickly ceased, there were no more flashes illuminating the floor.

I started running back, trying to reach my team before they start their attack on the next floor.

As i got nearer to the ramp heading to the 4th floor, i slowed my pace, shutting one eye, i tried to use my visions, but after a minute of attempting, nothing happened. I think i exhausted my own vision.

At last i reached the team, now stacking up on the ramp. The merc at the front peeked, no gunshot nor anyone shooting us from above. Odd. The leading merc cautiously walked up with 2 other mercs, heading up. The rest of the merc's team joined later after. It was just silent up above, only hearing the footsteps on the concrete floor.

All the sudden, a loud roar of gunshots began, hearing the shrieks of the mercenaries above. The gunfire now headed towards my direction, hitting the concrete above me.

Mercenaries started rushing in, the team that just entered was now running down, lost. The 2nd team stacked up on the edge, readying their weapons. My team faced the railing, prepping our guns to provide cover fire just like before. But, as we prepared, the gunfire stopped. Reverting back to the silence that was once here.

The team in front was hesitant, but after a few seconds, they rushed out, we started shooting as well, covering them despite not hearing any shots.

Reloading, they returned fire, we heard concrete getting hit near us. Nearing the edge, our allies began firing as well, signaling us to join in. As we ran out, some of us fell down, hit. Lennox and Thalia fell, because of the shots we ran past them. I hid behind one of the cars, Lennox and Thalia raised one of their arms, trying to get up and head back down.
