"Your Grace, can you pardon my insolence?" Evlan said as he was scratching his cheek. 

"I've already pardoned you several times in this ordeal. In the first place, I wasn't expecting you and your brother to follow the courtesies befitting in a conversation with a noble." 

Rather than taking the Count's words as a mannerly insult, Evlan considered them as a passing comment. So far, the Crown Prince and the knights were in the know of one thing -- the Percival brothers were once slaves. Because of that, Evlan might've sounded strange with his civil parlance. 

Looking at how young the siblings were, coupled with the fact that they had become accustomed to the trade, one would wonder just how long they had been slaves. Noble children were educated with the proper etiquette until it's time for their coming-of-age ceremony. Since Evlan and Ivanov were barely of that age, it's safe to assume that they have yet to learn formalities.
