[Demon-class King Raven has advanced to Saint-class!!!]
Set heard the system notification with tears in his eyes. Shouldn't the protagonist be the one who levels up during a life and death battle? This doesn't match the stereotype at all!!! The King Raven on the other hand stared at him with hate and lust for his blood. Set immediately ordered the metal crane to take off, but it was too late. Before King Raven evolved, its speed was comparable to that of a high-level Saint-class beast, but after it evolved, its speed was comparable to that of a mid-level world-class celestial beast.
"Dog shit! My luck is just dog Shit!"
The metal crane soared, but it could never shake the King Raven off its tail. The Titan Blade erupted with blazing, hellish flames that were sent to the King Raven. The King Raven didn't even dodge, he went straight through the flames, as though he was just taking a bath. It shrieked, and the eye on its forehead glowed with fiery, menacing light. After which the King Raven, let out a loud roar.
Set heard a loud roar, and his head appeared to burst. A ringing noise stuck with him, as blood poured out of his ears. If it wasn't for the safety harness, he would have fallen off the metal crane a long time ago. The metal crane had been flying for hours, but King Raven was still on his tail. Right now, the fight was one of stamina. Even if the King Raven could follow them, he wouldn't be able to catch up. And it had a living breathing body, it would run out of steam sooner or later.
But, on the contrary, the metal crane was not alive, Set had extensively studied it, and the only mild thing that had signs of life was the sun mark on the belly of the crane. And Set was positive that the mark of the sun had signs of life only because of the connection he had with the crane. But after all the "Extensive study" he had made was only superficial and observational, and as to the signs of life he had seen in the crane, he only had theories as to why.
The chase continued for two days before the King Raven started to slow down. But that was all Set needed to get the upper hand. Set would often fire a barrage of fireballs to hasten the energy drainage. After about two more days, King Raven shrieked and turned around to return to his humble abode.
But of course, Set wouldn't let the bird go! After all, he spent four days luring it away and draining its energy. At this point, it wouldn't be fair if he gave up. So utilizing the difference in speed, he went and hit it again, seeking to stir up his wrath. The King Raven was cooperative, fighting Set with both his sonic powers and his talons. fearing its attacks, Set maintained a steady distance between the King Raven and himself. The gap was not far enough to cause King Raven to lose interest, nor was it too close to deal with the damage done by his attacks. Of course, this just applied to the crane and the crane itself. Set on the other hand was bleeding from his ears. He had lost hearing in his left ear a while back, and his right ear was on the brink of deafness.
And the worst thing about this was Set's ability of Sacrifice was active the entire time, making him lose blood points every time he was hurt by that damned sonic force. By this point, King Raven had been chasing them straight for five and a half days. Its pace was slower than the Demon-class beast. It was so tired that it would fall out of the sky with the slightest breeze. The King Raven had attempted to go back many times, but Set had prevailed and kept its wrath burning.
The sky had been illuminated by the force of the sun. The clouds were scarce, and the sun was scorching. It was as if the world itself had incurred the wrath of God. The land below had turned into one of sand and shrubs a long time ago. But right now, it was a long stretch of sand as far as the eye can see. The King Raven abruptly stopped, behaving as though he was scared of something. It turned around trying to run, but Set stopped it. It had lost its strength for a long time and had barely managed to remain airborne.
Set tightened his hold on the sword and grinned. Since Set wanted King Raven to keep following him, he had slowed down considerably in line with the King Raven.
He ordered the metal crane to go turbo and struck with the Titan Blade at hand. He aimed at the throat and hacked. But Set was only able to leave a light scratch. This was expected, of course, if Set was able to destroy the King Raven from the start, then this tiring strategy would have been useless.
The King Raven came down like a bird that had lost its wings. It plunged right into the ground, throwing up sand and leaving a meter deep crater. The King Raven was tired beyond comparison, the sword strike from Set was the little nudge it needed to fall out of the sky. Set dived and targeted the same spot he had attacked before. King Raven squirmed around, but he was too exhausted to move. He assaulted the oversized bird, as if it had killed his whole family. He also infused the titan Blade with the blazing heat of the hell flame, causing a small part of the King Raven's feathers to get scorched with each strike.
After about two hours, Set had delivered more than two hundred strikes to the King Raven's neck, forming a deep gash. Blood was everywhere, King Raven was in the most pitiful state. The feathers around his neck were scorched as It laid on the ground, clinging to the last threads of his life.
Set stood over the corpse, covered in blood. He took his sword and plunged it into the gash with all his might. The King Raven thrashed around for a few seconds before breathing its last breath.
. . .
[King Raven Has been killed +200 exp gained]
[Blood point gained]
[Saint level beast core aquired]
. . .
Set heard the announcement, and there appeared a grin on his face. This was a difficult fight, but he still achieved his goal. The metal crane played a significant part in slaying the King Raven. If not for its speed, Set wouldn't have killed the King Raven in under three hundred strikes. Instead, he probably wouldn't even be alive!
Finally slaying the beast, Set felt exhaustion wash over him! And so he slowly laid down on the sand and fell asleep. Even if Set wasn't physically tired, he was mentally exhausted. He had gone without sleep for five days, and sleeping was the greatest reward among the actual rewards. As he slept, the metal crane began to devour the carcass of the King Raven. But because the flesh of King Raven was tough, the metal crane was having much difficulty.
After about five hours, the metal crane had finished eating the carcass. But that wasn't the end, a third eye appeared on his forehead. It glowed with red hellish light and spread all over the body of the metal crane, forming a cocoon of red light. The cocoon had remained unmoving for a few hours. The sky was filled with the darkness of the night and the light of the moon.
"KATCHA!"
Suddenly a crack was created on the surface of the cocoon.
"KATCHA!" the sound was heard again, and another crack emerged on the surface of the cocoon. Cracks slowly began to form until the surface of the cocoon was riddled with cracks. The interior of the cocoon sounded with a loud explosion, the cocoon exploded with smoke and, at the same time, hurled sand into the air.
When the sand settled and the smoke dissipated. There was a pitch-black King Raven, but this one was different. It had a third eye in the center of its forehead and a golden sun mark on its chest.
