Chapter 4 - Already awakened

Reigner copped Sylvie's hand, then ventured out the class. Both of them passed through the crowd whose main feature was the despair. The friends of Reigner had guessed his intentions and followed after him.

But when Reigner turned in the direction of the metallic soldiers, they stopped and shouted. Why would Reigner even go this way! They couldn't comprehend it and incomprehension manifested on their faces.

The reason for that was simple.

"The metallic soldiers will spread once their feet steps on our lands. The leaders shouldn't stop their march, and the ones at the very end will scour through our homes and shops... I don't know what is their goal, but facing the leader is something I don't want to do."

"We should gather together in the middle! The police are also going to be here and people with weapons too! Reigner, we must go oppositely!"

"And what if our weapons prove useless? We will get encircled and caught up!"

"Ugh... I don't know! I am not going here anyway! Sorry, Reigner! Stay alive!"

"Me too! We are going to survive on our own, but let's all survive, okay?!"

"I get it! Get lost."

Reigner muttered with annoyance, then strode forth. He was exhausted from the nightmares, and now, other monsters appeared. It is just a matter of time before they reach the school... Feeling the hand of Sylvie, Reigner stopped, however.

"I should've asked you for your opinion..."

"I haven't said anything, because I agree with you, Reigner. Even if the guns and other weapons end up useful, humanity is just not adapted to such affairs..."

"Then, are you willing to go with me?"

"Yes, but this is not a date."

To this sudden joke, Reigner curled his lips up, then both of them run forth! The plan was to hide in the house just before the new border, then once the metallic soldiers begin their searches, the duo will sneak out from another side.

Then go past the border and see the new, another world.

It was fine because Reigner's mother was currently on another continent. So unless she had experienced the same, Reigner won't meet her for sure. As for Sylvie, her home was also out of the border.

Thus, the duo ran past the houses and shocked people who had yet to properly realize the situation. What was the worst was that they had no way of knowing the situation and just mindlessly had been on the move around their houses ever since.

Soon, Reigner spotted the house on the border... It would be too rude for them to use the family living here, so Reigner and Sylvie made an appearance before the shocked family and explained the situation.

If the world could turn black and get rid of the houses in the vicinity, then Reigner's words weren't so unbelievable.

"Come in. We can hide in the small magazine behind... and if they barge into the house, then we will run through a backdoor."

"Yes, thank you."

The house was pretty small, but the family of four had been living comfortably here scrupulously. Not so wealthy, but also not poorly. On the sofa, Reigner glanced at the two kids sitting close to her mother and closed his eyes gloomily.

The ones that have it the worst are kids and older people.

After twenty minutes passed, the small earthquake swept through the outskirts. It was caused by the incoming army whose march had never halted. Then, the sound of their impending army entered the ears of humanity.

While kids covered their ears, Reigner and Sylvie stood up. Guided by the family head, they headed to the small magazine in hope of survival.

Everyone was stricken with fear. The sweat which was Reigner's most annoying enemy already dripped down his chin, his back soaked even more. To not let out any signs that can notify the invaders, the family and two young people bit their lips. They did it so hard that the blood trickled down from their corners.

Bah! Bah! Bah!

'I hope they don't have any item to search up for living beings... Please, god...'

The army was so abundant that the tension in the small magazine become the poison that was eating the human from inside. The steps of the metallic horses continuously invaded each part of Reigner's mind, then his eyes dilated.

He finally could feel that the leader and most of his soldiers ventured further... Only leisure and somewhat slow strides spread across the house... It was as if one soldier was entering the house!

Shifting his eyes from Sylvie to Mr. Father and then his wife, Reigner and the rest nodded and slowly stood up. It was time for them to sneak out while the soldier is scouring through the house.

'He must be amazed by humanity's technology and unique stuff... Yeah, this is... This is our chance.'

The group felt like they had achieved their goal. The new kind of forest and its breeze were already caressing their cheeks and the sound of the soldier's activity couldn't be heard... Looking at the vast forest, Reigner felt many emotions circulating through his body, but then, the huge wind swept through them.

""""!"""""

The soldier clad in heavy metal armor and his metallic horse stopped in front of them. The long lance was on his right hand while the other one held the shield... The shield had an emblem of the kingdom, but no one paid any attention to this.

Even the lofty and towering might of his presence couldn't slip into the eyes of humans. It was because everyone was looking around, not trying to look at the soldier, but for the means to escape...

But everything seemed so pitiful until Sylvie felt something triggering within her body.

"W-wind?"

The small breeze began gathering around her body. Then it escalated to the point where one could call her the lady tornado! The wind became like silver blades that were protecting Sylvie and her friends!

"Already awakened?"

The soldier said so... Only Reigner could understand him though... He spoke a different language to which the humans grimaced. But only Reigner narrowed his eyes and tried to 'awaken' by himself. His mind became filled with a nightmare, but nothing came out.

The monster also couldn't be summoned... as his power...

'This monster most likely would aim for me anyway...'
