"When did you bought this Noelle?". He asked me. We are already inside the car and we are going to the mall to eat. It's tita Eleanor treat.
I bought Gab Xbox set. I know that he is addict in playing that game. Because when he is in our house he always ask me to play with him. Sometimes I forgive him but, sometimes I don't.
"Last week when we went to the mall". I said then look in front.
"She bought that really just for you Gab". Mom explained while driving.
"Yeah, that's true. Maybe you wouldn't tease me anymore if i bought that for you". I said. I really didn't mean that. I was surprised when he is lending back the xbox set to me.
At first, I thought he is serious but at the end he laughed. I rolled my eyes. "Do you think I will give this back to you in exchange for not teasing you, huh?". He asked me. He is holding his xbox right now. I think he really love it.
"Exactly". I said confidently. I crossed my arms and looked at him.
"Thank you for this Noelle but, I will not stop teasing you. I will be sick if I do that". He said. He even pouted in front of me but he doesn't look cute, tho.
"It's okay. Don't worry". I said. I open my phone and scroll down because I don't have nothing to do. Casper is busy opening his xbox.
"Noelle thank you for that gift but, you don't have to. Working in your house is already a pleasure for me and Gab". Eleanor said. She's looking in the rear mirror.
I look at her. I smiled. "No, tita! It's okay. That's what friends for. And Gab is a good friend tita. No worries". I replied. This time, i really mean it.
Suddenly, I remembered everything...when I first saw Gab inside my room saying thank you because I help him, how he comfort me when I need someone to talk to, when he always listening to my rants and most especially, he give me experience about life of normal people like him.
Buying him xbox is nothing compare to his sacrifices and his concern to me. Next school year, we will face another chapter of our lives. Senior highschool is waving.
"Get out Noelle, we are already here". Mom said. I didn't noticed that we are already here because of thinking.
When I went outside, I saw Gab still holding the xbox. Are he planning to bring that until inside of the mall? It will be just an obstruction for us. It's hassle to bring that stuff while walking around the mall.
"Hey, will you bring that stuff inside?". I asked confronting him. I even point out the mall entrance.
He looked somewhere and he scratched his head and turn back the xbox inside the car. Good thing the car door is not yet closed. After he put back that stuff, mom make sure that she locked the door.
Eleanor and Gab is leading the way whereas mom and I is in the back. I was holding mom's hand. Nothing, i just want to.
"Mom". I started. I don't turn away. I am just looking straight while walking to the entrance of the mall.
"Yes?". Mom replied.
"This is the first time that we will have shopping and no one will call you for an emergency in work". I said then laughed. I just remembered before, mom don't have time for me. Shopping is our bonding but her work is always a hindrance.
"Yeah, Noelle. Are you excited?". She asked. I nod three times for a yes. "Sorry for before, it won't happen anymore Noelle. Promise!". Mom said then ask me to do the pinky swear. I did the same thing.
As we go inside, there's lot of family also celebrating about the graduation earlier.
"Let's go and eat in vikings Eleanor". Mom said. I saw how surprised Eleanor is. Vikings is quite pricy restaurant. It's a buffet, where you can eat everything that you want. I nudge mom two times. Maybe mom forget that its Eleanor treat and viking is not in her budget.
"No, I will treat you for today. Since it's Gab graduation. This is my gift for him". Mom said while smiling. She held Eleanor's hand going inside the buffet. They lead the way
I wad surprised when Gab shouldered me then we walk towards the buffet. There's lot of people inside.
"Tita is very kind, right?". Gab asked me. I frowned.
I laughed awkwardly, "Why?". I asked shortly.
"Your mom is kind even though our family doesn't have any connection in your family. Did you get my point?". He asked continuously.
"Yeah, I get your point. We just have no family that's why. My cousin is in Canada. They lived there for good. My mom told me that almost of our family is living there". I explained.
Mom asked for four seats. The waiter lead the way and we we're following. Gab sat beside me.
"Ohh, cool". He replied.
"Stop talking and let's eat first. Let's go". Eleanor said then stood up. We just sat down and we will now grab some food. What a life?!.
"Are you tired? Do you want? I will get a food for you". He asked me.
I shook my head and stood up. I followed them until I saw lots of food. There are fruits and vegetable selection, meat, pastry, dessert and many more. They look so delicious.
"Gab!". I whispered. I asked him to go near me.
"What?". He asked while holding a plate and spoon and fork.
"Come with me over there". I asked then point out the barbecue selection. I love barbecue's.
Gab laughed in a sarcasticway but nodded. "Okay, let's go". He said then we walk.
"This one is yummy Gab. Try this". I said while getting a marinated belly pork. This is my favorite food of all time.
"Yes, give me one and—". Gab said but someone cut him off. Someone talked from our back. When I turned around, I saw a guy. He is tall as well as Gab. He is holding an empty plate. Maybe he will just get food and saw us.
"Hey Gab". He greeted. He looked at Gab and the he look at me. I was shy so I turned away. I look at different food.
"Hello Kyle". Gab replied. He also turned away and he held my hand. We are about to go back when that guy talked again.
"You didn't tell me that you have a girlfriend". That guy named kyle said. He sounded boastful and disrespectful.
"She's not my girlfriend Kyle". Gab replied and looked at Kyle.
"It's nice. Introduce her to me, then". Kyle said then give me a look from head to toe.
"Shut up!". Gab said eagerly. Gab pulled me away. I look at Kyle and he was laughing while staring at me. He looked like a witch.
"Why you took so long?". Mom asked us. They are already eating. I let out a deep breath.
"Nothing mom. We just have a hard time which one should i get. I love barbecue, of course". I said.
I think mom and tita believed. We sat down and started to eat. No one talk. We are all busy eating. I have no doubt, all food is tasty. This day is such a fun day.
After we ate, mom and tita talked.
"Let's go shopping Ellie". Mom said. Did I heard a wrong name? Ellie?!
"Who's Ellie mom?". I asked. "Did I heard it right? Is it Ellie?". I added.
"Yeah, who's Ellie tita?". Gab asked. I guess I am not the one who is clueless about Ellie's identity.
Mom and tita looked anxious about our question. They look really weird.
"You know what? Time is running, let's go shopping now. You guys? will you come with us or no?". Mom asked us. We make an eye contact, me and Gab.
Mom didn't answer our question. "I wanna go to arcade. What do you think?". Gab asked me.
It gives me a hyper energy. I want to go to arcade. I missed going there and playing basketball!
"I'm down Gab". I said while smiling. I am really excited.
"We will go in a different way mom and tita. Call us if we are going home. Bye". I said because Gab pulled me away.
Life is really fun. Yes, sometimes its tough and it feels like you want to die because of problems and insecurities. But, you know what? You really don't want to die, you just want to be lost for a moment and live again.
