Chapter 21 - Solo leveling- The monarch's wings (fem SI): Prologue

{A/N: note Warning Anguish, our beloved protagonist will cry}

Jin woo stared at the flowering field, in his mind he could remember that day.

Her light brown hair was neatly braided and resting on her left shoulder, decorated with different flowers, there was a beautiful wreath circling her head.

She was dressed in a simple gray sundress, with a ruffled skirt at the hem that stopped above the knee and dressed in a gold Greek sandal.

She was sitting on a blanket with the picnic basket beside her, around her flowers of all varieties of colors surrounded the place painting a beautiful picture.

he could hear her laughter, his black heart clenching at the memory of the sound of her voice.

Without realizing it, the tears he held back finally felt in his gray eyes.

"Joesonghabnida (I'm sorry), my star," says his, his voice cracking. "Looks like I'm going to break my promise."

Not being able to hold back any longer, for the first time since he came back from that dungeon the monarch broke free, He just cried and cried, his black heart aching with sadness and bitterness wouldn't stop crying.

He just wished he could protect her, save her from this damn fate. To think he's a mighty hunter and yet he can't do anything but sit back and let his lover die.

He should have persisted with the original plan, persisted with the idea of using the cup, but the idea that he wouldn't be alone in the return was too good to be true, confident she would follow suit.

If he had known this was going to happen he would never have agreed to his plan so she would still be there beside him watching the sunset like they always did.

"I'm sorry I'm useless," he sobs "I should have saved you!"

He started to grab her hair, grabbing and pulling at her scalp tightly.

"I could have saved you!!" he screamed hysterically.

The pain was tremendous, he knew he couldn't use his greatest triumph on his star, for the system didn't recognize her, and there was nothing to summon either, she had disintegrated right before his eyes.

Suddenly, he felt those familiar gentle arms around his shoulders. It felt like the world had stopped for him when he recognized the familiar feeling.

Looking over his shoulder, he was greeted with what he yearned to see.

Perhaps it was an illusion or simply a remnant of a spell that your loved one cast before her death.

The heir knew she wasn't really there, considering how transparent she was. If not for his profession he would have thought it was her spirit, saying his last goodbye before leaving for the afterlife.

She glided in front of him, gently pressing an airy kiss to his forehead. Giving him one last smile, she rose to her feet and started walking towards the sunset. Jin Woo reached out to her, trying to hold her just one last time, but his arms slipped through her. Her legs started to go weak, causing him to drop to his knees and watch helplessly as she walked away.

"Please don't leave me," his voice cracks.

She stops and turns around, arms behind her back as she continues to smile. Even though it was a mere illusion, her smile was even more beautiful.

" Eu te amo (I love you)," she says softly. "I've always loved and always will. Obrigada , A-Jin. I lived as happy as possible with you. So please don't blame yourself for what happened to me, ne?"

The sun shone brightly as a tear fell from her right eye.

Even she couldn't keep up with him for that long.

" Viva uma vida longa e feliz meu amado Koi (Live a long and happy life my beloved Koi)."
