I sit back up as Jahní fusses over me, to be sure that I'm ok. "Does your head hurt?" She asks putting her the back of her hand on my forehead checking for my temperature.
"I'm good Jahní, no headache." She relaxes and touches her forehead to mine. "It just took me by surprise, the vision, that's all." She sit up and looks into my eyes studying them.
"May I see what you saw?" She asks me. I know that she won't hurt me, but it's weird to have someone poking around in your head.
I look at her understanding those feelings she has, since it involves us in the long forgotten past. "Alright." I say to her and I take a deep breath as she gets closer with three finger, and just as she's about to make contact I pull back. "Just don't scramble my brain any more than it already is." She snorts out a laugh.
"You don't need to fear, I will be very careful in there." I smile at her because I know she will. "Just know I love you." Knowing is one thing, but to hear her say it fills me with great joy. I close my eyes and relax; I feel her fingers touch me then she moves them across my forehead to my temple area, and it was like flipping a switch. The vision reappears and I'm in that battle field once again holding a sword, but this time I look around a bit more and I see the red armor that I'm wearing. I look up and I see Jahní in the near hill top, so I run to her and take position at her back.
She has flaming red hair in this life, and her eyes are reddish though the affection for me is clear as ever. We fight as one, with practiced moves that can only come from countless hours of training. She covers my left and I cover hers, always moving in a circular pattern, as the dead mount at our feet. When the mass of enemy warriors ceases; we look around and find that those that are standing are also wearing the same color armor as us. There is an army here who's faces I know. That's when he appears. The hulking warrior who plants the standard in the ground raising his sword, and shouting "Vartous!" The other warriors follow him and they cheer to our victory in the field.
We raise our swords with them and cheer as loudly as the rest. We come down from the hill top and we leave with them and the vision begins to blur; Jahní pulls back slowly until I have a clear mind once more. "I-I have no memory of this, but I know that it was us." She sits back and she is sweating a bit. "The Red Army." She whispers.
"Who are the Red Army?" I inquire of her.
She drops her head into her hands, and for the first time since we met I see fear in her eyes. She shakes her head in disbelief. "They were a fearsome hoard that rampaged through out the galaxy thousands of years ago conquering world after world. They say the Barhalmahní are their descendants."
Since the day we arrived I've found out who the Barhalmahní are and the men of that army don't resemble Skull face, which is what they look like. "The Red Army." I wonder what this has to do with anything going on now. As of this moment, I don't understand, but I will figure it out.
There is knocking at the door again. I stand up and smile at Jahní. "We have to make it official looking you know." She smilies at me. "Come in." A young Marine steps in, one of the new arrivals.
He snap a salute, which I return. "Sir, there is visiter who asking for a meeting with you, Sir." He seems shaken and pale.
"Alright, lets go." We all head to the main entrance, and I can hear the Gunny's voice speaking in a commanding tone. Then I hear another voice a deep base tone that stops me in my tracks, it can't be. I feel Jahní touch my arm, and I look at her. She can't be seen here by this character, so I point to her and then down to ground. She looks at me for a second then she understands that she needs to stay here and she nods.
I straighten my green utilities and motion for the Marine to follow me. As we turn the corner my suspicion is confirmed. It's Skull face. He spots me and smiles, which doesn't help his cause, in my humble opinion. "Ah, my good Captain. Just the man I was looking for." He says I get to him and he's a big dude, at least a head taller than me. And he built like a mountain of muscle, which makes for an imposing figure.
"Allow me to properly introduce myself. I am Ambassador Tonsaneh of the Barhalmahní Empire. He declares to all of us. "I have to say that your people are very ill mannered." Well I think anyone would think twice of letting you in including me.
I return a forced smile because something besides his looks bugs me. "Well Ambassador as it seems that the Embassy still has work to be done, and our Ambassador quite busy why don't we walk around the grounds?" He doesn't seem to like the prospect but begrudgingly he accepts. I give the Gunny a signal for a Marine escort hanging back.
"Well, the fact is I came to see you not your Ambassador." He say. What could he want with me?
"I am here to offer you a deal, that you should concider seriously."
What is he saying. "I don't have the authority to make any deals on behalf of Earth, but our Ambassador may be able to discuss some..."
"Come now Captain we know your situation here is tentative at best, but perhaps you have the ear of an important figure with the Kings ear." He smiles deviously. What does this jerk off know?
I nod at his assertions looking as innocent as possible. "Ambassador, I have no idea what you are speaking of." What does he have?
"She is quite beautiful. The Crown Princess is she not." Damn it! This this Skull faced ass knows! I have to keep my cool, or Something is going to go down!
"Yes, she is Very beautiful." I agree with him. "However, I still don't see your point sir." He chuckles and to be perfectly honest I've never heard any thing so full of malice before in my life.
"It would be viewed very poorly, for the Crown Princess to be seen having a romantic triste with an off worlder." He says and I feel the heat rise up from under the collar of my utilities, and up to my ears.
Stopping I turn to face him and at this moment our disparity in size doesn't mean anything. "Are you threatening Princess Jah-Jahní, with some kind of damaging scandal?" I say in a confrontational manner.
He squares up to me. A sudden movement to his left and my right gets his attention, as the Marine escort moves up holding their plas rifles at the low ready. "You would dare to threaten me Boy!" He says loudly.
"Then I should remind you that this territory belongs to Earth, and here you're the outsider!"
I say just as loudly.
"You would throw away the lives of your people l, so carelessly?" He asks.
I analyze his questions, since it's obviously clear that he's not used to lower races standing up to him. "Yes. If it means that we kill one, two or one hundred enemies; the sacrifices would be worth it." He steps back and for a second a shadow of doubt crosses his face.
He looks at me in disbelief, but he smiles malevolently. "You haven't changed." He says in a low voice.
I narrow my eyes at him. "What did you say?"
"It is unimportant." He turns to leave, but he looks back over his shoulder smiling cruelly. "The deal is still open for you to consider." With that he leaves.
Once he's out of the gate I quickly head back in to the building. I find Jahní; grabbing her hand I hurriedly pull her back to my office and shut the door. I run through the office closing all the curtains. Once I finish I walk back to Jahní holding her by the shoulder. "They are aware of our relationship. I don't know how, but I bet it has something to do with that Bug."
"This would not bode well in with my people or my father." She pulls away folding her arms and she walks to my desk. She turns back around looking at me. "The Barhalmahní have asked father to expulse you from Majah prime, but he has rejected such ridiculous requests." She walks back standing in front me.
"So you think that they would use whatever they have to create a scandal, for you and your father." This sounds like something he would do.
"Or to separate us and cause a split between our two people's." She adds making me feel a sudden bout of anxiety, at the thought of being separated from Jahní. No. I have to be calm and collected or I won't be able to use my head clearly.
I put my hands behind my back. "Ok, what's the worst case scenario should that could occur?"
She looks down for a moment. "Your people could be expulsed, or I could be banished in which case my brother would be the Crown Prince." Oh, I don't like the prospect of ether of those. "Or you could be expulsed." She gazes at me; the pain clear in those beautiful silver eyes of hers.
"Though I think my father will simply forbid us from meeting anymore." That's not a comforting thought.
"None of those make me happy, but not being able to see you... would be like torture." We hold on to each other tightly, as the possibilities are all bad.
"We will find a way my love." She says to me.
