Back to the present-
Jk scratches his head as he sits up from his squeaky, old bed. He rubs his eyes to make them less blurry as he looks around the room.
"Why did I have to dream about that?" He groans as he swings his legs over and off the bed. He slowly makes his way to his curtains and throws them open to see a bright, sunny day with a lot of people living out their lives in the neighborhood; shopping, eating at the restaurant across the street , carriages rapidly going by. It looks like it's gonna be a very busy day. In his closet, there were many suits, coats, and shoes colored black. It's not like it's his favorite shading to wear but, to be honest, Jk gets migraines if he wears anything that has a bright look that the sun can reflect on. After getting all dressed up, he leaves the room. As he closed the door, it made an odd click.
He made his way downstairs to be greeted by all his lovely dolls. He smiles faintly at them before he starts to open up for business. He makes sure all the shelves are dusted and clean, all the dolls are put on display and had an appealing look, and made sure the windows were beautiful and clear. But something didn't feel right....he just brushed it off for now.
After a few customers came in, a little girl and her grandfather strolled inside the shop, "Look grandfather, a doll that looks like Vina!" The old man squinted his eyes to look closely at the doll until he went back to his peaceful, resting eyes.
"That does look like her!" He turns to Jk and says with an approving voice, "You are very talented, my boy!"
Jk responds with a smile, "Why thank you, that means a lot." Jk kneels down in front of the little girl, "Would you like to take her home?"
The girl smiles widely, "Yes, I would!"
Jk's smile deepens as he makes his way to the cash register. The old man pulled out his worn out wallet. "That would be 10, sir." Jk says, waiting patiently for the old man as he pulls out a 10 and hands it to him. "Thank you," Jk turns to the little girl and asks, "Would you like her in a basket or is the arms of her new mother better?" The little girl's eyes brightens as she silently yells (she makes it work cuz she's a good girl) in her arms.
As the little girl was walking out the door with her grandfather, she quickly made her way back to Jk and gave him a big hug which Jk happily returned. He waved them a goodbye and closed for the night. He turned off the lights, locked the door and was heading to his desk to finish some paperwork. Once he got to his desk, he sat in his rolling chair, and leaned back making the chair squeak. He flipped through some pages that had nothing but words, words about nothing but rubbish. As time passes by, his eyes start to slowly close but all of a sudden, cold metal touches his throat and he immediately exhales. He couldn't see the person behind him but he could tell they have already been inside when he closed. He felt the person grab the arms of the chair and spun him around to get a good look at this person. Jk's breath stops....
