Chapter 5 - Sold

I gulped in fear of the idea of being sold. Who could possibly need shelter this bad as to buy an 'alien?' I breathed out a shaky breath before testing my luck.

"Who could possibly need shelter still? Didn't that war end already?" , I questioned.

At this the lady whipped her head back to look at me. Neutral expression twisting into a look of disgust. Before settling on my features.

I squirmed under her intense glare that seemed to be able to kill. All three of us were stopped in our tracks, two of us anxious with one ready to pounce.

"Ah, purple. Royalty? Maybe a Royal guard? Explains why you'd be so stupid!" , she spat before aggressively marching off, leaving me speechless and a stunned Jackson.

"What do you mean, stupid?! I'm the second best educated person on my planet!", I screeched.

"Oh, really? How the hell do you not know that we guard the people still, let alone we're considered THEIR pets!" , she yelled back, quickening her pace.

Jackson began to pant beside me, trying to keep up with the angry one ahead of us.

I scoffed at her rudeness. How could she expect me to know another planets problems? Let alone a planet where we haven't defined a feature to send our people back.

She stopped abruptly in front of a building that looked similar to our den, but darker. She turned to face us, arms crossed, still looking angry before saying, "The names Alex and you've arrived at your destination", before being swallowed up by black mist.

Jackson's eyes went wide as my mouth was left hanging open. If that was teleportation then how come she didn't just go back to her planet already? Unless she has a limit with how far or.. does she like it here? The thought alone left a cold shiver down my spine.

"Might as well get this over with.." , Jackson huffed, trudging towards the doors.

As much as I didn't want to, I didn't really have much of a choice. I huffed in annoyance before grudgingly following after him.

The inside definitely didn't look like the den. There were large cages, some filled with others like us and some not so much filled. There were strange signs above each cage, assuming contained the information on which were in the cage, but I couldn't decipher the language.

This must be the humans language..

Our silent session was quickly cut by a larger person walkin up to us, clearing his throat.

"Where are your masters?!", he boomed.

Jackson exchanged worried glances before looking back at the man.

"Um... we were told to walk in by a girl named Alex?" , Jackson replied as he nervously scratched the back of his head.

"Cute.. Wait what?!", I thought instantly shaking my head.

At this the man nodded before signing for us to follow him. We walked after him, still taking in our surroundings before stopping in front of a desk with neatly stacked papers.

"Names? Abilities? Age? When you arrived? Why you were sent here? Planet? Relationship? Status on your planet? Talents or hidden ones?", the man rambled as he began grabbing papers and pens.

I stared at the man before shifting my gaze back to what looked like.. Prisoners.. The man had long, chest length, ash brown hair, glasses, wrinkles, a slightly greyish brown beard, and dark blue eyes. He looked no older then 48.

"Uhh.. The names Jackson, we arrived at least 900 seconds ago, I kinda forced her to come here with my own selfishness to escape my planet.. we're enemies.

I'm a Royal guard from planet Mart. I'm 20 with an ability called umbrakinensis. I'm not sure if I have talents considering my planet only focuses on training their people, so I guess I have a talent in fighting. "

Jackson proceeded to cross his arms with a determined look, ending his speech.

The man closed his eyes, nodding, before opening them back up and finishing the paper before him.

I stirred silently. It was strictly forbidden to give your information out on my planet, but considering I won't be able to see it again.. what harm could be done?

The man cleared his throat, gaining my attention, before speaking out, "now what about you?"

I stared at the floor, still unsure if I should really tell him. Sighing in defeat I spoke up.

"My name is Comet, I'm 18, Royal guard of Celeste and the Queen's prized gem, I have 2 known abilities with a 45% there might be more, known as shape shifting and summoning." I let out a gasp, not realizing I haven't breathed at all.

"This man is indeed my enemy," I continued to let the words slide off my tongue as if it was venom, watching as Jackson shifted uncomfortably. "And like he said, we arrived roughly 900 seconds ago thanks to him kidnapping me. My known talents are all combat related and my hidden ones are my observing skills and quick thinking."

I looked away as the man stared, shocked written over his face, including Jackson, at my confession.

The man quickly jotted down notes on the paper before setting it to the side, standing up whilst grabbing the keys from his back pocket and walking past us before turning to face us, "Follow."

I scoffed at his attitude before following the man with Jackson right behind me, passing the /prisoners?\

The man walked up to a cage that was much larger and well taken care of compared to the others, before unlocking it. He then gestured for us to walk inside.

I hesitated, looking back at the miserable others and taking a step back, bumping into Jackson.

The man apparently didn't approve my behavior and walked quickly towards me, gripping my hair and leading me to the cage.

"Ah- O-Ow?! LET GO OF ME!" , I yelled out.

I could see in the corner of my eye, Jackson reaching out to grab me but missing by a inch as I was thrown in the cage, landing painfully on my knee. I looked back in time to see the man had wacked Jackson on the side of the neck, which left his body going limp, falling to the floor inside the cage.

"Should have walked in on the first offer, Kid." , he grumbled as he locked the door, leaving us alone.
