Act: 43
The golem's arm raised high in the sky came crashing down on Oto before he was even able to get the words out.
*Slam*
Sand blew all over the place from a mysterious impact. Launching its arm away in the opposite direction as it fell straight into the sand. The golem was in shock, turning around seeing part of its arm gone, and glancing down to see a boy with white hair somewhat hunched, looking back at it.
Shizu had a big smirk on his face.
"Hey there, are you looking for me!?"
The golem seemed to respond with a disorientated mechanical clanking sound.
*die*
"Sorry, but we're here to save the day. Number one Ranker right here."
Its arm had regenerated quickly, swinging its entire arm at Shizu in an instant. The sand cleared and he was no longer in sight so the golem turned around until he saw that he stood idly behind him. Shizu dashed back a bit to create some distance between Oto and Taku.
'Damn, Taku's already out? Hehe, what a story I get to tell him later.'
The golem shot its fist straight towards him. In response, he jumped over landing on its wrist. He tilted his head to the left and let out a soft yawn.
"About to use that Star again? Going past your limit? You know the damage it'll cause to yourself, don't be stupid. Having a Star that's like no other it's... It's amazing! Don't throw it all away now Oto."
He said while feeling some way.
*Sigh*
"Daichi you're up!"
A shadow soared in the sky, and it so happened to be Daichi appearing on command with his body somewhat lit in flames. On his back were a pair of orangish-red flames taking the form of wings.
Soaring from above Daichi's hand flared up utilizing the new technique he learned. Diving down he rammed into the golem's chest and expelling out all the built-up heat, sent the creature back a few feet with a gaping hole in its chest exposing the core.
"From what I understand they copy the Star energy that's targeting it and then create an immunity for the level of output. However, it can use it in anyway way it wants. This big guy most likely has it too although it may create a stronger immunity and offensive attack with your star, nasty right? But don't worry we're here to stop it now!"
Shizu dashed at the golem before it fell into the sand. Leaping as if he were some wild animal with his right arm winding back in motion.
Shouting out to the top of his lungs.
"Resurrection! Followed by my new complete Gyakuten Drive."
His fist shone a bright white followed by a clear purplish mist color, swirling around his hand that traveled around his arm. Instead of him needing to spin counterclockwise to build momentum he figured out the secret his Sensei wanted him to find out and now can use his star energy to create the rotation.
Punching the golem in the core caused its body to erupt. The force from his punch had been so devastating it created a shockwave that left a 15-foot divot in the sand which filled back up shortly.
Oto seemed shocked by the outcome.
'There's no way… he destroyed the golem with a single punch! And the massive aftermath from it… he's the only 2-Star in our class if I'm not mistaken... Can he even beat Takao...?'
Shizu landed along with Daichi, glancing back at Oto with a smile on his face.
He spoke.
"Told you we would easily win. Now make sure to keep it between us. See ya at the ruins!"
Shizu had said. Putting his finger over his mouth telling him to "shh."
Then they proceeded to run off to the ruins.
'Heh. Damn. To think he'll be the winner. That's fine- at least I was able to meet you.'
Oto turned to Taku, taking the headphones off his head, putting them back over his ears, and changing the dial.
He shook Taku a bit trying to wake him up. Jolting up quickly he looked utterly confused, adjusting his eyesight to Oto. Still loud as ever, he shouted.
"You won! Wait how long was I out for!? Is it gone for good? Are you sure!?"
'I forgot I gave him my headphones...'
Oto replied much louder than his usual quiet self.
"Calm down Taku, heh. We didn't win, we lost but were saved."
"Huh! We lost and were saved. If only I had been stronger. Ok, Oto we may have lost but the ruins. We will win it! We must go right now!"
"Ok, Taku!"
'Shizu was it? Thank you, you made me realize something I should have sooner.'
Oto and Taku dashed off to the ruins, both looking like a beaten mess. While running Taku became curious and asked Oto a question.
"So, who was the person that saved us?"
Oto paused thinking of a response. Knowing that Shizu didn't want Taku to know it was him.
"Some outsiders who think they can win-"
"Now that I think about it? This was all those girls' fault! They gave us more of the stupid golems that, oh so greatly decided to merge and whoop our ass. Meaning when we reach the ruins they're up first!"
"Correct, they were the cause of all that and so I agree with them being first on the plate."
Oto and Taku's friendship came along quite well. Becoming buddies sooner than would be expected, the two running with smiles and laughing at every odd thing that happened.
Although the main challenge has yet to come. The ruins.
Oto and Taku both stopped glaring up at the ruins and the rocky old, diminished look, a pathway that only led deeper down. They saw fallen pillars and rubble blocking quite a bit of the area.
Going deeper within they heard sounds of clashing and blasts going off but what made them move quicker was the sound of someone screaming. Both looking at each other confused and nodding their heads, they ran wondering if he was the problem.
"We may have gotten last but why was there fighting?"
The ruins they thought would be the place to meet up and see how far everyone had gone. Instead, it led them to a temple with a huge door that was shut but the sound of people fighting became louder. Knowing that they must go inside.
"Ready Oto!"
They slammed on the door with their shoulders, pushing it open. The moment it opened they froze in place after what they witnessed.
"What the hell are you doing! You better stop!
Taku ran from the door leaning forward and sprinting at full speed while activating his Star that had shined over his palm.
"Star Activate-"
Takao glanced over at Taku charging at him. He muttered under his breath in a Contemptuous tone. Extending his arm out in his direction.
"Fall before me. Star+Fg activate."
"No! Taku, wait!"
Taku stopped in place as his body trembled and shook intensely. The area around him felt heavy and dense. Dropping on both knees then proceeding to fall on all fours. He was incapable of moving and could only slightly look up at Takao lowering his hand.
"Takao, you better-"
"Now now. Oto-San please watch your words if anyone would know better it should be you. So idly sit and watch. Heh... I'd dare for you to interfere."
'No way he stopped all of them... On his own...'
Oto remained silent, staring at the helpless classmates. But noticed the girl whose hair was in a ponytail and a light blueish color sitting by the throne playing her piano.
'I can't sit and watch this. Shizu, I know he wouldn't just sit around. Wait, where is Shizu?'
"Takao! Star Activate-"
"Shut up and fall!"
Oto dropped to his knees, but the difference was for him the air became much thinner making it hard for him to breathe.
"I honestly thought you'd know better. Tsk tsk."
"Shi-zu..."
Oto had muttered out.
"Shizu! Did I hear you correctly! Oh, I should just kill you right here and now! I hate that name, you know. Hmm! Ah oh, I hate it so much!
Takao started to angrily stomp over to Oto raising his arm in the air. Before he could get a few feet close to him a soft calm voice spoke in his ear.
"Watch out, Takao."
Turning around he saw a kunai, web, arrow, balls, a demonic blast, and the other Star users' attacks heading his way.
"You guys, aw how adorable. Fine, I'll continue to hurt you if you want it that bad!"
He stared back with a sick grin on his face.
*Boom*
Surprising him to his left where another set of doors were. Clearing from the smoke he saw a spiral of chains with infused petals on it, flying towards him.
"You all really want to fight me so bad I may end up killing one of you by accident because you're all so weak it's so sad. What a weak class I've been put in. Though I can't wait to step on all of you!"
- - - -
"Daichi.. I told you we should've kept straight. Now look where we are, I can't even see the ruins?"
"Sorry, Shizu. I thought it was this way for sure we can always turn back now."
Daichi said with a smile.
"Yeah... It's our only option... I bet we're dead last and everyone is patiently waiting for us."
The teachers stayed calm playing it by ear wondering if things may get out of control or possibly seeing others' true potential. Just how will the class handle this situation?
