Today is the most important day of the school, well not only for the school but also for this small town. Small but magical town, where everybody knows everybody and every secret isn't technically a secret.
Welcome to the town of Snowberg and no it doesn't snow in this town, though the history of this town says otherwise.
The history book of this town says that in 1840 the town was built in the middle of a snowstorm by Nicholas Tomnsen and his family. They sought refuge that they did not find, but on the way, they met with a large group of people who needed help and a home. That's when Nicholas came up with a great idea, why not build a town in the middle of the woods? Practically in the middle of nowhere, and in the middle of a snowstorm that lasted 2 months? That night Nicholas and a group of men built a wooden house, big enough for the whole group of people to fit in there. They worked day and night to build the town that they wanted. The snowstorm passed, but they still worked hard. The story says that was the last time they saw snow in this area. The first house is still located in the center of the town, the others were built and remodeled as the years went by.
And today is the big day. The day Nicholas Tomnsen finished building the town. Every year the people of the town gather in the center of the town were the first house was built and share their stories and laugh. I do not go to those things; I am not one among these types of people where for a day you see the hypocrisy from the moon. Where you see people laughing when all they really want to do is criticize whatever you say or do. So all in all it's just a normal day in the small town of Snowberg.
Today has to be one of the worst days of my life. First of all, last night I had set my alarm clock wrong, it was supposed to go off at 5:45 but it went off only at 6:45. So I had to run to the bathroom, take the fastest shower ever known to mankind, and get ready. I was going to run down the stairs but I accidentally hit my head on the bedroom door. Now I was not only 15 minutes late but I also have a lump in my head! Once I was outside of my house and got in the car, the car didn't want to start because I forgot to fill up the tank and now it was empty. I had to walk to school, thank God that the school was only a five-minute walk from my house.
I mean what could go wrong in five minutes? Let me tell you... everything! Everything can go wrong in a five-minute walk.
The first three minutes of the walk everything was normal and then it started to rain. I did what a normal person would do: I ran. I ran to the school premises and once I was about to enter the school building I stepped on wet dog poop.
So I was not only soaked, late to class, got a lump in my head that is turning purple by now, but I also stink of dog shit. To hell! I don't even know if that was dog poop or not, it was too big to be it. I didn't even look down to see if it was, I just walked away and told myself that it was a bar of chocolate.
I went to the bathroom and I took my time to clean myself the best I could, I mean I was already 20 minutes late so why enter the classroom.
This is not the morning I was expecting. Yes, things like this happens to me all the time, I am like a walking and breathing bad luck charm. But I try to stay positive all the time, at least that's what Alana would do.
Right then my phone started to ring informing me that someone was calling me.
I looked at the name popping on my phone; it was my best friend, Layla Torres. She takes everything seriously, she is like my mum but worse. Me not showing up to my first class today was a bad decision.
"Hey girl, what you doing?" I laughed awkwardly which only made me cringe even more.
"Truth Evan Santana! Where the fuck are you?" Oh great. she's mad.
She said my middle name, not the whole name so that's a good thing, which means that she is not furious.
Evan is for Evangeline.
"I am in the bathroom, bad day" Everyone in our group of friends knows that if I say it's a bad day, well it means that things like this happen.
"Ouch, what happens now? A dog bite? A cat scratch? Does it involve poop? Of course, it involves poop! Every problem involves shit when you're in it! Whose was it? A dog? Cat? Your brother's again?" Yep you heard it right 'again' and yes that happened but what's in the past stays in the past.
"A dog or at least that what I am telling myself"
"And there's more" she knew me so well
"Yep, there is always more"
"Then go on tell me!" she screamed and in the background, I could hear the teacher lecturing her about paying attention in class and to cut the call.
"I will tell you at lunch, you go back to the lesson"
"Yea good idea. See ya later alligator!"
"See ya in a while crocodile" we laughed and the line ended.
I looked in the mirror and my hair was just the way it always is: looking like a bird nest.
My clothes were wet and every time I walked you could hear the squishy sound of my wet socks, I was a mess. I tried, I really did but right now I need a miracle worker to help look decent.
Right now I needed Dalain, she is perfect for this job.
I dialed Dalain's number and prayed that she would pick up.
It kept on ringing but no one picked up, so I tried again and this time she picked up just when the call was about to end.
"What? I am in Art class Truth!" Everyone meet my savior, Dalain Rivers, did I mention that she is also a book worm? Probably not.
"I need your help, like, right now!"
"Right now? With what?" I knew she was considering skipping the rest of her class.
"Bad day," I told her in a sad tone
"I will be right there. Where are you?" she asks
"First-floor bathroom, the one right beside our Math class..." I sigh in relief.
"Dalain thank you so much"
"Yeah don't mention it, no like seriously don't mention it. I think I will be having a heart attack any second now" she laughed trying to steady her breathing.
We laugh about it and I end the call. I sat on the cold bathroom floor, waiting for her to come in through the door. 10 minutes passed and Dalian came in with a make-up bag and a crop top and sandals. Where does she get them all? Well, that's something nobody knows and we try not to ask her. She will get in a full story mode and we definitely don't want that.
"Whoa! What the fuck happened to you?" She stares at me with wide eyes.
"Like I said bad day. I only need the shirt and the sandals by the way" I told her in a bored tone
"Yeah, every day you say that you surprise me with something new, and no you need everything!" she said putting the make-bag in the table "... what is that smell? that is not dog poop."
"I don't look that bad! And shut up I don't want to think about that part of the problem"
"Come on, let's get you ready" she looked at me with disapproval and started doing her magic.
By the time she was done with me the bell rang.
Outfit and hair:

Yes, the shorts were soaked but we couldn't really do anything about it and by we I mean Dalain, once she was done she told me to look in the mirror and in all honesty I was kind of scared to look.
She actually made me look like a normal and decent human being.
Make-up:

"Okay let's go we are going to be late for class," she said packing everything.
"Hey, thanks" I grabbed my soaked clothes and walked out of the bathroom with Dalain following me.
We got to my locker and put the clothing in there, taking everything I need for the next three classes. I followed Dalain to her locker and we took our separate ways. I went to Math and she left for English.

Loraine and I came out of our fourth class, English. Immediately we were pulled into the sea of monstrosity we called the teenagers, who were trying to be the first one or at least the next one in line for lunch.
Meet Lore, she is the reckless of the group and the only one who loves sports, I am a little surprised that she even showed up to class today. She is all the way outgoing, in the extreme kind of way, but when you need her she will always be there to give terrible advice, but advice nonetheless. She is loyal and kind when she needs to be.
We enter the cafeteria together, looking at the tedious and never-ending line, we decided to wait. We sat on our table waiting for the others to come.
"So tell me what happened today?" asked Layla once all of us were all in the table, with our food.
I start telling them the story of my day and once I finished everyone started talking all at once.
"That is not just a bad day, it is a terrible day!" Autumn said while laughing at me and making everyone laugh all together.
"Only to you," Dalain said.
"Oh my goddess you are from another world, I tell you!", Loraine said.
Layla just sat there with a disappointed look, trying so hard not to laugh. She is like the mother of the group and thinks that she needs to make an example of everything. It's kind of funny at times.
The bell rang for our next class, which I have with Layla and Autumn. We threw our leftovers in the trashcans and left to the classrooms

"I AM HOME!" I yelled when I entered the house.
"Oh, look who is here, my beautiful sister" Dylan walked in front of me to the kitchen in his underwear.
"I am going to tell mom you didn't go to school today," I said, reclining at the kitchen counter.
"Mom already knows," he said, with a smile on his stupid face.
"Do you really want me to make sure you're lying to me?" I ask with a knowing look "... that's not smart at all Dylan." I say laughing at him. Getting on my feet and deciding to go to my room.
"Mom said that you will be going to the town's party this year!"
I was climbing up the stairs when he said it,
"No, I am not!" I yelled. I walked into my room and looked to the mirror and there sat a letter from my mom. Great! I already know what it says.
She does that every year, she puts a letter on my mirror and then she gets home with a bag of clothes. By then the fighting starts -I mean- the world war 3 starts. I always end up winning but she doesn't speak to me for 4 days straight and when she starts talking the only answers I get are 'yes' or 'no' until she gets over the stupid fight.
It like a little tradition of ours, only it's not pleasant.
I know that this year I will have to go through, I mean all the juniors are going, it a tradition in our school that all the 11th graders go to the middle of the town with balloons and candles. We let go of our balloons which represents our past and then make a wish while holding the candles for the next year of our lives, which will be our last year in high school.
I think it's more like a good-luck-next-year charm or something and I have to say it's a beautiful sight to see from my window. I have never seen it up close, maybe when I was a kid I might have seen it, but I don't remember.
I sat on my window sill and looked out, you could see the town clearly, not all of it but a part of it.
My bedroom is pretty cool even if I do say so myself, it's always clean, with a cream and brown theme.
The walls are rich cream-colored and my bed is dark brown with creamy white sheets. The decoration is pretty simple just a small wooden table on the side with my bed lamp and a flower vase, and a vine themed dark copper brown chandelier.
I like it. It's more me, comfy, and feels natural.
I heard the door open and close down the stairs,
My mom's home I just know it, it's like I can feel her presence or more like the huge fight that will come with it.
Don't let my hate for this stupid get together to tell you otherwise, I love my mom, I mean who doesn't? But she can be very creative and persuasive with her words when she's mad, or any other time she wants to convince me about something.
"I AM HOME!" she yelled. And here starts the real pain, our very own World war 3...
