Chapter 1 - Reality or Illusion

I borrowed a reality that became an illusion.

[2014]

College. The last semester of my senior year. All the students are coming back from their vacation. Laughters, hugs, and smiles filled the campus. Friends who haven't seen each other for months share stories of what they've been. Walking through the campus knowing it's my last semester, feels somewhat strange. It was my home, my life, for the past almost 4 years, and now it's about to end. Am I sad? HELL NO! I can't wait for this semester to be over so I can get out of here.

"Finally! Done! I thought my brain was going to explode!" Lee Mari said while stretching.

I arrived back to my dorm which I share with my 3 best friends. Lee Mari, a sports mania, who never misses a school game at all even if it means missing her classes. Kim Hana, a pro gamer, who's brother is in the pro gamer league, but we're keeping it a secret. And last but not least, Kim Sohee, the goddess of the science club, who already has a set job right after college.

"What are you doing?" I said as I make my way towards Lee Mari.

"Are you done with your class?" She said as she gets up from her chair. Knowing her, she probably just finished binge watching all the basketball games she missed during the summer.

"Yup. Didn't do much. Just talked about the class or whatever." I said as I placed my books on my desk.

"I saw your boyfriend earlier. He was looking for you. But I didn't know where you were so I couldn't tell me," Hana said from her bed.

"It's fine. I'll just call him right now. He doesn't have class until later afternoon. I'll just meet up with him now," I said as I took out my phone.

"I'm so jealous of you two! You've been dating for 4 years, I mean you guys practically act like a married couple already!" Mari said as she turns around to face me.

"I guess I just lucky with finding the right guy. I'll see you guys later," I said as I grabbed my back and headed out to meet him.

I walk to the elevator as fast as I can. I haven't seen him for the past couple of month. During the break I had to stay in Seoul for an internship. He, on the other hand, decided to go back to his hometown to be with his parents. I've met his parents. We've dined out together, spend time together, I've even slept over at their place multiple times. I've gotten pretty close with them. He has an older brother, whom I haven't met yet. He's currently working abroad. I hope to meet him one day.

"Jaehyun!" I called out as I walked out the building.

Kim Jaehyun. My boyfriend. We met 7 years ago at his parents' flower farm. My family and I were on a trip that day. My father had searched up the place and wanted to take my mother there. My mother loved flowers. Especially white roses. My father would buy a white rose every time he came home. But this time, he wanted to experience picking them with my mother. He's quite a romantic guy.

On the last day of our trip, I wondered on my own and got lost. I somehow found my way to the flower farm. I recognized the farm so I went through it to find the owners so they could help me contact my parents. As I walked through the farm, I accidentally tripped and fell over a bunch of white roses. I lost consciousness and when I woke up I was in the hospital. I suffer some minor bruises and cuts because of the thorns. Apparently Jaehyun was the one who found me at the farm unconscious. Since then we became close and kept in contact with each other.

We met again after a few months when he moved to Seoul to pursue his singing career. He became a trainee at a company not long after moving. Since he didn't know many people, we hung out together often. He was there for me when my parents past away. I was there for him when he gave up dream to become an idol. We were there for each other for everything. Soon after we realized our feeling for each other. There was no confession. No confirmation. Just a heartfelt kiss.

"Minhye!" He called out as he stretched out his arms waiting for a hug.

I ran straight into his hug. The break was the first time we've been apart for more than a month. It was so nice to finally be back in his arms. I couldn't help but to hug him for a long time.

We spent the rest of day together. I even went to class with him, ate lunch together, went shopping together. Everything was perfect.

Perfect. It was perfect, right?
