Chapter 2 - Chapter two

My attacker flew over my head and slammed on the ground.

"Marco!" I yell as I kicked him in the leg.

He smiles up at me, "Kasia, how do you always know when I attack?"

I pretty much grew up with Marco, his mom was the maid to my mom. Some days his mom would have to bring him to the palace, on those days Marco would find me and no one would hear or see us for hours. As we got older his father; the general in our military wanted him to join. So we became combat partners.

"It would help if you were lighter on your feet for starters" I chuckle as I help him up. "Want to spar?" He chuckled at my question.

"We are always sparring and working on our technique, can't we do something fun?"

Marco begs, I roll my eyes "fine, but what do you have in mind"

"Let's go to the forest and hunt!" He said jumping up and down.

How does he always know what I'm thinking. "Of course! Rabbit or porcupine?" My father hates when I hunt anything bigger then 15 lbs. because the cook doesn't like cooking a huge beast unless it's a special occasion.

We grab our bows, and run into the woods. We hear rustling, so we lay low and quite. All of a sudden we see a kid our age just wondering around the woods. We jump up and Marco wastes no time in chewing him up.

"What are you doing!? Hasn't anyone told you not to wonder the woods alone!? We could have killed you!"

The boy looks like his about in tears. He's in very nice clothes, a Royal no doubt.

"Marco that's enough" I approach the boy. "Hello, I'm Kasia. And you are?"

The boy looks hesitant but after a few quite moments he says "Jensen, I'm prince of Hyann" he looks around "I was told the princess of Hillsboro was out here somewhere have you seen her?"

Marco and I look at each other and laugh. The young prince looks confused. "I am her, sorry I'm in my combat clothes, I don't like to hunt in a gown" I rolled my eyes. "Your highness, I apologize for not recognizing you" he bows and looks to be tearing up.

"Jensen isn't it? It's perfectly fine" his frown became a soft smile. We walk to Jensen "would you like to hunt with us?" Marco asks

"I don't know how to hunt" he's face became a frown once again. "Don't worry, it's simple and I'll teach you" Kasia grabbed her bow and put it in his hand. "You bend your elbow holding to bow, look down the sight, pull the feather to your check, and take deep breathes when you don't shake let go! If you miss it's okay!" Kasia smiles as she helps draw the bow back.

We spot a rabbit 8 yards away. "Okay, Jensen get ready" Marco whispered to Jensen. Jensen pulled back the bow and then let it go! "Bulls eye!" Kasia yelled jumping!

"I got it, I really got it" Jensen looked surprised. "Let's take it to the butcher, maybe the cook will cook stew for us!" Marco said as he's skinned the rabbit.

We headed to the village and I looked at Jensen. His head was hung low like he was trying to hid. "Are you okay?" I grabbed his hand to comfort him, Marco looked over and looked furious.

"I just never been in a village before" he said as his face was still hiding.
