I bowed my head in defeat really I had no choice. I had to accept Sloan's offer.
"I will do as you ask with a few stipulations of course." I said watching Sloan's expensive shoes as he moved even closer to me.
"I hold all the cards my dear. Really I have no reason to give you anything, but since you will be doing me a great service I suppose I can hear you out." He said at my back now. I could feel his breath on my neck, it made me shudder involuntarily.
"I want protection from Lucien and Satan. They are going to be after me for betraying them, and I want some assurance that I will be safe. Second I want my powers left alone." I glared at the incubus who was looking at me like I was a chocolate cake. He could steal magic from me if he could get in my pants. Sloan may make Terry share not a pleasant prospect.
"Third I want to get to maintain my lifestyle until God decides he has had enough and smites us all." I said holding my head high at last.
"All very reasonable requests, I agree to them. You will be sharing power with only me, and even then not much. I have plenty stored, but I may need to replenish after the battle at hand. As for God smiting us I would like to see him try. I will be nearly untouchable by the time this is all finished." He walked back to his seat no longer interested in me for the moment. "You may go with Terry for now. When the preparations are made I will have you brought to me." Terry came forward taking my arm, and we turned to leave.
"Oh one more thing Lilith. If you try to double cross me in someway. I will make you suffer far more than you could possibly imagine." He had a glint of fire in his eyes at the end. The power so strong it shoved Terry and I out the door without him using a drop of magic. Terry grabbed me around the waist pulling me close to him.
"Hey baby, don't be mad. I promise to treat you good. This won't be so bad." He said, but I barely heard him. My mind was in a thousand different places. I didn't even register that he had led me back to the car, until the door was open and he was trying to get me in the seat.
I paid no attention as we drove, so when we pulled up not infront of my house but an unknown very elegant home I was confused. Terry walked around to my side of the car, and unbuckled my seat belt then picked me carrying me. I was in too much shock to even really notice. He sat me on a large plush couch then began mixing some drinks.
"I think I will have you move in here with me. That would be far more convenient." He said pushing a glass into my numb hands. I nearly dropped it, but downed the entire thing in one gulp. I felt a bit better as it burned its way down my throat. I began to wonder if Lucien was the lesser of the two evils. He wouldn't doom the world. It held far to much enjoyment for him to let it end on a whim. As if summoned by my thoughts I caught movement out of the corner of my eye, and there he was standing directly behind Terry. My eyes widened, and I jumped to my feet, but it was too late. Lucien's fist stuck out of Terry's chest leaving a gaping hole where his heart use to be. Blood sprayed my face, and I lurched backwards toppling over the couch to land rather ungracfully on the floor. I didn't have time to sit up before Lucien was on me pinning me to the floor. His face so close his lips brushed mine when he spoke.
"Don't tell me you betrayed your maker little one." He purred voice like sickeningly sweet honey. I shook my head voice frozen in my throat. He stroked my cheek gently humming.
"I swear I planned to double cross Sloan at the last moment." I panted trying not to hyperventilate. " He has some kind of charm he stores power in I was going to steal it."
Lucien raised off me a few inches, and cocked his head to the side.
"Oh really, and what do you plan to do with all of that magic." He asked staring down at me curiously.
"Why use it to bargain with you of course, so that Mara and I can keep our freedom and not anger you." I said voice sounding like I had sucked down helium. Lucien nodded seeming to like my plan. I wasn't sure if it would still work once someone found the remains of Terry scattered on the floor, but was the best I had.
