(So, short chapter today. I'm super tired from driving yesterday. I had to make up the location of this battle. There is no recorded location that this battle takes place in canon so I just chose a planet from the map I found. I will explain why I chose it in the chapter. Don't look up who Master Tholme is unless you want to spoil the chapter for yourself. I warned you. Enjoy!
New question for you guys. What is your favorite thing to do during winter? As I have already told you guys, mine is skiing. Currently at the condo, drinking at noon so I'm having a great time. Let me know! I love hearing from you guys!)
Radnor is a system that is on one of the major hyperspace lanes in the galaxy. This hyperspace lane was known as the Corellian Run. It runs from N'Zoth, through Coruscant, all the way to Ryloth.
These lanes would be crucial throughout the war. Hyperspace lanes were mapped such that they would avoid any interference during the voyage. This included stars, asteroid fields, and planets. It would be quite inconvenient if your starship were to be destroyed before you even knew what happened.
Thus, being in control of the systems along the hyperspace lanes was critical to maintain the ability to quickly ferry troops and supplies across the galaxy.
Tyler and Kai were assigned to deploy with Jedi Master Tholme. With the amount of players that joined the Jedi Order, they were able to provide multiple Jedi for each team unit of clones. Tyler received a mandatory quest for this.
*Mandatory Jedi Order Quest Assigned: Assist Master Tholme*
*Rank: Gold*
*Description: Work with Jedi Master Tholme to secure the Radnor System. This system is critical to the war effort. Any war related quests will only result in the forfeit of rewards. No tangible penalties will be given. Failure to make progress on a mandatory quest will result in egregious penalties.*
*Rewards: 100k credits, +1000 Jedi Order and GAR Reputation*
The Council was confident that with the assistance of the clones, two Jedi Masters and a Jedi Knight could handle anything. However, they did not predict the reinforcements that the Sith Order also received in terms of players.
Three venators dropped out of hyperspace in high orbit over Radnor. The flagship of Tholme's fleet was called the Solliquin. Aboard this ship was Tyler, Kai, and of course, Master Tholme.
Tholme turned to Tyler. "Draco, what should our game plan be here?"
Tyler pressed a button on the command table. A hologram of the surface of Radnor popped up. He pointed at a few settlements on the surface. "The CIS has set up encampments here, here, and here. However, this last one is the largest one so if we can take it down, we will be able to choke the other encampments through a lack of support."
Tholme nodded. "That sounds like a great plan. However, this should be the place where their strongest forces lie. That may be a problem."
Tyler sighed. "Tholme, that's what we are here for. It is our job to rid them of their strongest combatants. Right, Kai?"
Kai nodded as he puffed out his chest. "Yeah, we can take anyone, master."
Tholme sighed. "Like master, like student. I guess we should get on with this. Let us board a transport."
Tyler raised his brow. "Let's get a fighter escort. I expect quite the welcoming party."
Tholme nodded. "That is a great idea. I didn't even think of trouble on the way down. I was more concerned about our plans once we got down there."
Tyler smirked. "And that is why I'm here, my friend. Let's get going. I'll give the order." Tyler turned to a clone standing nearby. "Captain, have a squadron of headhunters escort us to the surface."
The clone officer stood at attention. "Yes, sir." He rushed away to carry out his orders. They were about to depart so this needed to be done quickly.
About a half hour later, they were in the air, flying over Radnor. It was an interesting planet. The ground was covered in red grass. Small mountains towered over the mostly flat plains of the world. There were various forests with weird looking trees. They were all quite thin, but tall, with curved trunks. Their leaves were red and their bark was gray.
The planet was inhabited by sentient beings but they had technology equivalent Earth in the 20th century. Thus, the Republic and Separatist armies were like gods to them.
*BOOM… BOOM*
Artillery shells exploded in the air surrounding the transports. Fortunately, none were hit in this first barrage.
Tyler sighed. "PILOT, SET US DOWN IMMEDIATELY! WE CAN'T AFFORD ANY CASUALTIES!"
The pilot nodded. "Yes, sir."
All of the transports went into a nosedive, attempting to reach the ground as fast as possible. The anti-air guns couldn't keep up with their maneuvers.
Suddenly, they pulled up and the doors slid open.
Tyler grinned. "GO! GO! GO!"
The clone captain pressed his comm button. "EVERYONE OUT!"
Hundreds of clones hit the ground. In addition to them, a few ATTEs were also there for heavy support.
Tyler began to charge forwards as he activated his comm. "Let's move quickly. You guys create a distraction at the front door. I will go with Kai and take out their AA guns before opening the gates. We will need more reinforcements if we are to take out this encampment."
Tholme sighed. "I will support the clones then. May the force be with you, Draco."
Tyler smiled. "With you as well."
Tyler and Kai ran into the forest next to the settlement. This would be their cover to approach the walls. However, it would not be as simple as they expected. They quickly spotted a patrol of droids about a mile out from the walls.
Tyler rolled behind a tree and Kai followed suit. Tyler raised two fingers. He pointed to Kai, and then pointed to the left. He then pointed to himself and then to the right. They would circle around and take the patrol from both sides. There were three B1 battle droids in the patrol. They would be easy to dispose of.
The thing that sucked about droids is that they could not be sensed through the force since they were mechanical. However, they were much less intelligent than sentient life forms so they could be easily outsmarted.
Once Kai was in position, Tyler signaled to him. They both leapt forwards, igniting their lightsabers. Kai flipped and took off his droid's head in one swing as he landed on the ground behind it. At the same time, Tyler slid on the ground and used his twin sabers to bisect his two droids. The three of them hit the ground at the same time.
Suddenly, Tyler felt several presences in the force. They were sinister but not quite as cold as a dark side user. He whispered to Kai. "Hide!"
They rolled aside and hid in a bush. Out of the brush, further down the path, a squad of mixed race operatives emerged. They were players.
Tyler sighed. "Shit."
Kai was confused. "What is the matter, master?"
Tyler shook his head. "These are no droids. It will be much more complicated to eliminate them. Fortunately I have this with me."
The Jedi Master pulled a small box with two antennas out of his inventory.
Kai tilted his head. "What is that?"
Tyler smirked. "It is a portable communications blocker, or LCB. The power cell can keep it operating for a few minutes. That is all we should need to dispose of these clowns."
Kai nodded. "That is quite useful. Generally, jammers are much larger."
Tyler flipped the switch on the jammer. "We have little time. Let's just do this fast before they notice that their comms are down." He pulled up his hood and placed the jammer in the bush. He then pulled out his blaster pistol. He would take out as many of them as possible before rushing in with his lightsabers.
After having Kai move around behind them, he opened fire. The first shoot hit a player, square in the head, killing him instantly. They all reacted by dropping their heads and running for cover. Before they could reach any, Tyler took down another one with a headshot.
Unfortunately for the patrol, they had not noticed that Kai was behind them until it was too late. The small, green jedi ignited his lightsaber and began cutting them down. By the time Tyler made it over with his lightsabers ignited, there were only 3 players remaining. He watched as Kai quickly incapacitated a player.
Tyler jumped forward and beheaded the two players that remained standing. He turned to his former padawan. "Let's move. They will soon realize that something is wrong when these guys notify their comrades."
