Chapter 1 - The Beginning of the End

On a tiny blue and green world inhabiting a corner of the Milky Way galaxy, a man was praying for the world. This ape descended biped lost his family to a terrible virus. With no cure in sight, he and billions of others decided to sit down and pray.

Praying that a deity would come down and rescue them. Praying for an alien race to appear and help. Unfortunately for these humans, the nearest alien race was a few thousand light-years away and currently in a planet-sized civil war over mana crystals.

The year is 2021. A terrifying virus has spread across the world—scorpion, a deadly virus that could decimate entire populations within weeks.

Scorpion wasn't harmful to other animals in any way, but most animals could be carriers. It was theorized that this contagion was synthetic and created in a lab, but that doesn't matter anymore.

At first, it was thought that nobody could escape this predicament, but early on in the spread, it became clear 3% of people were immune to its effects.

In a mere decade, 90% of the population vanished. In the following 2 decades, 7% followed until only the people immune were left. All previous infrastructure was destroyed. Many more people died before colonies, and large groups could form. The first colony to arise from the ashes was in New York.

After the first billion had died, many things changed. Humans were suddenly able to run and heal a little faster. This strange power only multiplied at exponential growth as the death toll grew.

The most significant change was at the 4 billion mark. Reports of strange phenomena were at an all-time high. Many spread tales of humans capable of bending iron with a soft squeeze. Beings with abilities compared to Greek myths. Pulling down clouds and covering valleys with mist. Manipulating gravity allowing a pseudo-levitation.

In the coming thousands and thousands of years, historians argue about the most considerable change. Many debates that the most significant shift occurred when a little boy was born in a tiny colony in Arizona.

Thomas, a loud and obnoxious little kid, would become the most giant ripple in this ocean of man.

He would incite this new era of man.
