The next day we were brought out to eat with Granny and her friends. We didn't have to learn much, but we had to learn table manners, small talk, and how to address people and stuff like that. Her friends were nice, but one was kinda pushy. At first I thought she was joking when she said I was pretty enough to marry her grandson, but then she continued talking about getting us to meet up, and started asking what kinds of dresses I like. Granny changed the topic for me, and I was thankful for that.
After that she took us shopping. I found I had more of a tomboy kind of style. I liked some colors, like blues that made my eyes pop, or greens, purples and tans. Some pinks were okay too. Other than that it was pretty much grey scale. I liked pants, as skirts were weird and new to me, and T-shirts or hoodies. For shoes it was boots or tennis shoes. Heels hurt too much. Granny wanted me to have some girlier clothes anyway so she got me a dress with shorts and some neutral toned sandals. The short sleeved dress was about knee length, and was soft grey-blue colored with a fitted top. Some kind of folded pattern at the waist led to a flowy skirt. There were hidden pockets at the waist too. I didn't mind it, it was just weird to me. Miku got some jeans and a range of tops that were usually either blue, black, or grey. The shoes he got were grey with black accents. After we went shopping we met back up with Granny's friends. Now they were with their grandkids and the kids' friends. Miku was more interested in playing with them than me though. A group of girls tried to chat with me but the conversation didn't keep. Instead I hung out with a more distant girl and her male cousin. They were nice though. I figured I should remember their names, Alex and Shelby. The kids My brother were with were mostly boys, and their names I couldn't really remember. He talked about this kid named Aaron a bit though.
As we were sitting, I noticed Granny had left. When she came back she had a bunch of papers, some of which we had to sign, and a bag of books. Supposedly now we were being temporarily home schooled. She said that when we went back to the forest the schooling would stop, and the reasons she gave them for us to be leaving were technically all true anyway.
We started school the next day, which mostly was just us reading materials and doing homework. Granny had to explain a lot to us, even down to what math was, but after some time we figured it all out. My stuff was much harder though, so I took an extra day or two of explaining. My favorite class was English because after some time I really enjoyed reading. Miku had less to enjoy though, and decided playing around or listening to me read was more fun. I didn't mind the company though. My favorite book was a fantasy genre chapter book about a girl in a world of magical beasts. Something called a unicorn was by her side as she saved the magical world she was in from her own kind. I wished something like that could happen for us. Someone standing up for us against the hunters. Oh well I guess, it was only a story anyway.
