Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Meteorite

Angel's POV:

"Angel calm down." Rose said. She was trying to console me. Me and Ace got into an argument again. He told me it was because I abandoned him when we were younger. Because I didn't turn down the people who wanted to adopt me. I sniffled. "You know what? I don't care that he feels a way about me. Let him." I said. "What happened between y'all?" Rose asked.

"He's mad that I got adopted and as a result, I left him." I said. "That's it?" Bailey asked. "Yeah. I don't know why he still has a grudge against me. This was eleven years ago. He should be over it by now. And he's probably adopted by now so why is he so mad at me?" I asked. "Maybe he's upset that you weren't there." Rose said. "Well he needs to get over it." I said. I looked up at the sky.

The clouds floated above us. The blue sky looked amazing, though I could tell it was the afternoon and would soon be evening. "Look guys, we should go." Rose said. "What? No! I wanna check out the abandoned building." Bailey said. "We can't. Look, it'll be dark soon." Rose said. "It's still light out though." I said. "I see that but there are wild animals out here. I'm surprised we haven't seen one." She said.

I looked around. We were surrounded by trees. "Bailey, she's right. We're out in the open. Anything can come and kill us." I said. "If the guys were still here, we'd probably have a better chance of survival. They could've help fight anything off. Right now, we're three girls in the middle of the forest. Anything could kill us." Rose said. "But the abandoned building...." Bailey said. "Bailey who cares about that abandoned building? We don't even know is it has mystical powers." Rose said.

"I care. Rose you know the legend yourself." Bailey said. "Yes I do and I don't care." Rose said. "What is the legend?" I asked, curiously. "The abandoned building used house the richest family the town has seen. They built up and had lavish meals and parties. Of course, there were thieves who wanted their money. They fought them off though. Then a hermit came to their house one night. They were injured and needed help." Rose said.

"A hermit?" I asked. "Yeah. Do you know what that mean?" She asked. "Yeah. It's someone who lives in the woods instead of society. I mean like why or how would someone choose to be a hermit this far out into the woods?" I asked. "Just hold on. The hermit was injured but the rich family turned her away. The hermit begged but they refused. The hermit was actually a witch and cursed the family before she died on their property." Bailey said.

"The rich family was bombarded by thieves almost every night. They were on end and tried their hardest to keep their money safe. They bought weapons for extra measures. But of course, their luck ran out. One day, their house was set on fire. They managed to put it out but all of their money got burned up. A mafia boss came to their house to get the money the man of the house owed him but he told him he had no money." Rose continued.

"The father tried to beg the mafia boss to believe that he had no money and to please not to kill him. He offered to get the money some other way, but he needed time. The mafia boss didn't believe him and kill him and his family. The father, barely alive, tried to reach town for his injuries. He was immediately turned away because people remembered he treated everyone poorly because he was rich and they weren't." Bailey continued.

"So no one helped him, even though he begged for them to. The townsfolk dragged him back to his house and saw it in ruins. Everyone saw him die on front door. Before the man died, he said he could see the same hermit who cursed him as he was dying. No one believed him and left him. So the man died. People say that the hermit moved into the house after death. She put a spell on the house." Rose said.

"That's not all. They say that every fifty years, the house would glow as if something was inside. They say the hermit is somewhere inside in the house, with her mystic powers somewhere and you could see her ghost. If you see her, she would ask you to help her. If you don't help her properly, you'll be cursed. If you do help correctly, she give you her powers." Bailey said. I stared at her. "Bitch what?" I said.

"What? That's the legend." She said. "So let me get this straight Bailey: you wanna go inside that house, find that old hermit, help her out, and get her powers?" I asked. She shrugged. "I don't know but it wouldn't hurt to see what's inside." She said. "And take the risk of having a curse put on you?" I asked. "Come on Angel. You're not scared are you?" She asked.

"Bitch no I'm not scared but I ain't stupid either." I said. "So you don't wanna go check it out?" Rose asked. "No and neither should y'all." I said. "Angel it's just an urban legend. None of it is real. People just say that stuff because the building is falling apart." She said. "Well if it's falling apart, they why do you want to go out and explore it? Remember what Christian said? It'll crush us if we're not careful. So it's smarter if we don't go." I said.

"Scary ass." Bailey said. "Bitch fuck you. I'm just being smart." I said. "Angel it's not real." She said. "If it's not real, why do you wanna go so badly?" I asked. "Because I'm curious and don't tell me that cheesy saying, 'Curiosity killed the cat.'" She said. "Well how else did the cat die?" I said. She stared at me then smirked. "Come on Rose. Let's go. I told you this'll be a waste of time. I told you she'd be too scared to actually go see it." She said.

I scoffed. "Excuse me? Angel Starlight is never scared of anything." I said. "Really Angel? Cause it sound a like to me you're nothing but a pussy." Rose said. I looked at her. "Bitch I- No. No. I'm not a pussy. I just know when to not press the limit." I said. "Says the bitch who surfed during a thunderstorm." Bailey said. I narrowed my eyes at her. "Fine. Let's go see the abandoned building." I said. She smirked.

"Hopefully this GPS starts working again." Rose muttered. "Say what?" I asked. "Nothing. Let's go." She said. We walked further into the woods. "I hope you know where you going Rose." I said. "I do. Christian said head for Red Rock then go west of it." She said. "But the guys knew where it was." I said. "Angel you're new. We know where to go." Bailey said. We walked for what felt like hours. Then I heard thundering.

We all looked up. "Oh boy." I said. "No no. We're good." Rose said. We walked further into the forest til we came to a river. "What now?" I asked. "Well rivers leads to the city and we're not going there. Oh hey. There's rocks." Rose said. We each stepped carefully onto the rocks and crossed the river. We walked some more before w came to a clearing. Bailey gasped. "There it is!!" She cried.

I looked up and gasped. A big ass mansion stood there in the middle of the clearing. Everything about it screamed bad news. It was dark and decrepit. It gave off bad vibes. Bailey then ran up to it. "Bailey wait!!" Me and Rose cried. We ran after her. We came to a gate. "Not gonna lie, even though this creeps me out, it's a nice gate." I said. Rose pulled out some wipes and opened the gates.

"What are you doing?" Bailey asked. "I don't want to catch germs." She said. We laughed and walked inside. "Wow. It's even creepier up close." Rose said. I pulled out my phone and took pictures. "Okay. We found it. Now let's go." I said. "Just a sec." Bailey said. "Angel don't be so afraid." Rose said. "I'm afraid of losing my life to vengeful hermit spirit." I said. They didn't say anything. Rose walked up the steps and opened the front door.

"Rose!! What are you doing?!" I asked. "What? I just opened the door. Surprised it's still opened after all these years." She said. Suddenly, the door fell off its hinges and crashed, falling down the steps. I looked at the girls. "Now it's time to go?" I asked. "Oh my God! Angel Starlight isn't afraid to surf in a thunderstorm but scare of a falling door!" Bailey said, sarcastically. "Yeah come on Angel. Lighten up." Rose said.

"We've told you before. It's just an urban legend. It's not real." Bailey said. We walked into the house and looked around. "It's so cold in here." Rose said, as she put on her hoodie. Me and Bailey did the same. We walked around, looking around at everything. Everything had a burned smell to it. I looked up and saw a painting. "This must be the family." I said. They came over to me. "Maybe." Bailey said. Then I thought of something.

"Wait why was the father involved with the mob!" I asked, curiously. "It was back in the 1800s. Everyone was involved with the mafia at some point." Rose said. I nodded. "Wanna go upstairs?" Bailey asked. Rose shrugged. "Oh boy." I said. Rose and Bailey both grabbed my hands and looked at me. "Angel stop worrying. It's. A. Fucking. Urban. Legend. ITS NOT REAL!!" Bailey yelled, her voice echoing through the house.

Then thunder sounded above us. "Yelling in an old, decrepit house is not smart. Who knows what's out here or what's lurking nearby." Rose said. We walked upstairs. I closed my eyes. Angel relax. It's just an urban legend. We walked further into the house. I walked up beside Bailey. She was staring at something. "Guys look." She said. We looked over to see a bunny rubbing it's nose.

"Awww." I said. It looked up at us then continued to rub its nose. Then it hopped away down the hall. We followed it. "Wow. Look at that." I said, pointing down the hall. We followed the rabbit over to some small stairs. It hopped across the small bridge and disappeared. I looked up at the hole in the ceiling, as light shined down. "Normally, I'd be freaked out by this but it's actually kinda cool." I said. "Come on. Let's go down." Bailey said.

We ducked underneath the small set of stairs then went down. "Whoa. This must lead somewhere else." Rose said. We walked down the stairs and came to a hall. I looked around. "Y'all? I'm not tryna start nothing and I know this isn't real, but something really doesn't feel right. My gut is telling me we should go back." I said. "Angel." Bailey said. "Look how can y'all feel-" I was cut off by something shuffling.

We clutched onto each other and froze. Then a bunny came out and looked at us. "Man." I said, irritably. "Do you guys hear that?" Rose asked. We listened and heard what sounded like a bell ringing. "Yep. That's the cue to leave." I said, turning around. Rose grabbed my hand. "No. There has to be an explanation for this." She said. "Yes. A dead hermit is nearby and letting us know we need to leave." I said. "Guys." Bailey said.

We looked at her. She pointed straight ahead. We saw that the bunny was staring right at us. "Is it frozen or something?" I asked. The bunny twitched it's ears, making us jump. "Fucking....got scared by a bunny moving its ears." Rose said. The bunny moved closer to us. We didn't move. Then it did something crazy. It began to climb up the walls. "I know you fucking lying." I said. "Okay. Rabbits aren't supposed to do that." Rose said.

The bunny then crawled on the ceiling towards us. We screamed and ran back towards the stairs. Then the bunny appeared in front of us. We screamed and ran back. It chased us down more stairs. The thunder clapped outside, sending vibrations of the aftermath. What the hell is happening?! We ran down some stairs and paused. "Did we lose it?" Bailey asked, after a few minutes. I looked around. "What kind of house is this?!" I cried.

"I don't know but let's go." Rose said. "Uh uh. I'm not going back up there with that demonic rabbit still up there." Bailey said. "So you want to exploring?" I asked. "No. I've seen enough. I don't want my life taken by a vengeful hermit spirit or a demonic rabbit." She said. "Where else do we go? The only way to leave is either up or down." Rose said. "I don't know but we need to get out of here." I said. We walked down the stairs and came to multiple exits.

"I know you fucking lying." I groaned. "Aw come on. We just want to leave!" Rose cried. "We got three exits in front of us. The question is which one do we take?" I said. "How bout we go each down one and come back and get the others?" Bailey asked. "You mean split up? Bitch no. Safety in numbers." I said. "She's right. If that demonic rabbit is in here, imagine what else could be lurking around. We stick together." Rose said.

"Okay so which exit do we take first?" I asked. "Let's go with that door over there." Rose said. We carefully walked over to the door but there was nothing but gurneys. "Okay gurneys is a big red flag." I said. "Maybe the rich father was doing experiments with animals and that probably explains the demonic rabbit." Bailey said. "Okay let's try that other door." I said. We walked over to it but there was nothing but more gurneys and some notebooks.

We flipped through them. "Huh. He was doing experiments on animals. Says here he wanted to benefit mankind and shows his wife he was smart. Apparently he had a low IQ." Rose said. "Well it obviously backfired on him." Bailey said. "Come on. Let's try them stairs." I said. We walked down the stairs and came to an open room. It looked similar to a ballroom, but way smaller. "Wow." Bailey said, her voice echoed.

"Okay come on. I didn't even yell." She said. "There's nothing in here Bailey. Same thing when you move into a new house, your voices echoes. There's nothing for the sound to bounce off of so it echoes." Rose said. We walked around, our footsteps echoing. Then we heard rumbling. We looked over and saw light. "Hey light. Maybe that's a way." I said. We ran over and saw it was actually light. We made our way out of the house and ran back through the woods.

"God I am so glad to be out of that house." Bailey said. We made our way through the woods and back to the park. It was completely empty. I looked around. "Wow. So everyone left?" I said. "Guys. It's nearly nighttime. We should all get home." Rose said. We got in the car and drove off towards town. "Okay that was crazy. As much as I love cute bunnies, I don't want to see one anytime soon." I said. "Guys look!!" Rose cried. We looked up to see a meteor falling.

It lit up the sky. Suddenly the car turned around and drove after it. "Rose!!" Bailey said. "It's not me!!" She said. She took her hands on the wheel. We all gasped as the car began to drive back towards the park. "Rose stop the car!!" I cried. She stomped on the brake but the car didn't stop. "What the hell?!" Bailey said. "Yo what is wrong with this?!" Rose cried, as she repeatedly stepped on the brake.

The car sped up and drove straight into the woods. We all screamed as we drove through the trees til we came to a stop. We looked at each other. "Please tell me it's over." I said. Then the car roared to life and sped off into a clearing. Then a hole in the ground opened up. The mountain rose up above us. Lava spewed up out the hole. We all screamed as the car sped towards it. "What the hell is happening?!" I cried.

Suddenly the car spun around and came to a stop. We looked at each other. "We need to get out of here before it starts driving again." I said. "Rose is your car a smart car?" Bailey asked, as she I did her seatbelt. "No. It's not." Rose said. "Well that makes this situation even more scary." I said. "Guys!! The meteorite is coming straight for us!!" Bailey screamed. We looked up and saw it was coming for us. Then it hit us.

I felt a world of pain for second before everything went dark. Then I opened my eyes. Everything was white. I sat up and looked around. I saw I was in a hospital room. "Am I dead?" I asked. I got no answer. I stood up and walked over to the door. I opened it and walked out. I gasped as I realized I was still in the forest. I heard someone call my name. I walked around but didn't see anyone. I followed the voices outside.

I kept walking til I came to something shiny on the ground. I bent down and looked at it. It was a sparkly, purple dragon egg. "This is yours Angel." Someone said. "Pick it up." Someone else said. I didn't recognize these voices but I trusted them. I looked at the dragon egg. "Should I really pick it up? It could belong to a dragon mother. She's probably worried about it." I said. "It's your egg Angel. Look at it. It's has your name written all over it." The voice said. I looked at the egg.

I picked it up and it then absorbed into my skin. My hands felt tingly. Then my whole body felt tingly. "Angel?!" Rose cried. Then I opened my eyes. I saw Rose leaning over me. I sat up. She cried out and hugged me. "Rose? What happened? Where's Bailey?" I asked. "She's still in the car. I can't reach her." She cried. I looked over and saw that the car was completely totaled and on fire.

"We gotta get her out." I said. I tried to stand up but pain shot through my body. "My body hurts too. I don't even know how we're still alive after that meteorite hit us." Rose said. We crawled over to Bailey's side of the car and tried to pry the door open. "Almost. Bailey!! Bailey wake up!!" I cried. She barely over. "Angel? Angel where are you?" She called. "Over here." I said. She turned and looked at me. "Angel? Where's Rose?" She asked.

"I'm right here!! Bailey try to get out. The car is on fire!!" Rose cried. We all struggled to get Bailey out. She kicked the door while we tried to pry it off. Then we got her out. We ran away just in time for the car to explode. "My car!!" Rose said. "It's better it than us." I said. "Guys what is that?!" Bailey cried. We looked over towards the mountains and my heart stopped. A gigantic monster appeared from behind the mountain and walked over towards us.

We all screamed and ran away. "When did start snowing?!" Bailey cried. "That's what you first notice instead of the enormous demonic creature behind us?!" I yelled. We ran fast into the forest, with the creature right behind us. We ran and ran til we came to a pond. We stopped and hid behind a tree. We waited for a few minutes before either of us spoke. "I think we lost it." I said. "Hopefully." Rose said. "Where to now?" Bailey asked.

"Home. We've had enough craziness for one day." I said. "But which way do we go?" I asked. We looked around. "Damn it. Now we're lost." I said. "What else can go wrong today?!" Rose yelled.
