Caleb's POV:
Three Months Later*
I looked at Angel as she laid up on the table. Now that Angel was close to giving birth, I wanted her in my sight at all times. She was to have four guards surrounding her day and night. The same went for Skylar and Riley. They were also ready to pop any day. The nurses and doctors checked them for their vitals and everything. "Alright. Everything's all good so far." The doctor said. I looked at Angel. She stared up at the ceiling.
"Angel you okay?" I asked, worriedly. She nodded. "I'm thinking about that commercial I saw on TV. The Red Lobster one. It had something called Lobsterfest and I think I wanna try that. It looks really good." She said. "Don't believe everything you see on TV Angel. I once saw a commercial for a Wendy's burger and I thought I was getting a fucking Big Mac. I got a damn slider." Riley said. We laughed. "I'm serious. It was so small, I wanted a refund." She said.
"Once saw a woman ordered a soufflé and a beautiful cake. She didn't eat it. She just pictures of it. Then she complained about when they told her she still had to pay for it. She said that she didn't eat any of it." Skylar said. "She can't do that. They spent time making it. So of course she had to pay for it." Angel said. They spent more time talking about that issue. I looked at Kyle. He was on the couch upside down looking at his phone.
I looked at Ramón. He was watching something on TV. Why do I feel uneasy? I got up and walked to the bathroom. I looked at myself in the mirror. I look pale. "Caleb?" Mom called. I looked at her. She stared at me. "Are you feeling okay? You look incredibly pale." She said, as she felt my forehead. Everyone looked at me. "I do feel a little bit sick." I said. She took me upstairs and to the kitchen. She fixed me chicken noodle soup.
Dad also made me some grilled cheese. "What did you eat today?" He asked. "I didn't eat anything. I was so focused on Angel." I said. "We'll get your strength up. We're leaving today." He said. "You found us a place?" I asked. He nodded. "Yeah. After all these months of hiding, I finally found a new home for us. It's in Norway. Angel showed me your honeymoon trip and it looked amazing." He said.
"But why now are we moving?" I asked. "Because I've been searching up big mansions to house all of us. But Norway has a lot of mansions holed up already so finding one that wasn't bought was hard. I was actually considering looking to move to somewhere else like Spain." He said. "Why not Ireland?" I asked. "Because. I received intel that some of Gustavo's men was there last month. Someone told him that you and Angel were spotted there so he decided to go check it out." He said.
"Oh." I said. Suddenly, we heard thunder. "Ah shit. Hurry up. Go tell everyone to go pack. We need to leave before the rain comes." He said. "Dad we have cars. We don't need to fly." I said. "I have people who owes me money. I want to go collect my money before I leave." He said. He turned around then jumped. "Jesus Angel you scared me." He said. "Oh sorry. How did y'all not hear me?" Angel said.
She walked over to me. "Angel you don't realize how silent you are." I said. She giggled. "Well Angel now that you're here, go pack. We're leaving for Norway." Dad said. "Aww. But Skylar's grandmother was coming over today. She's gonna be here soon." She said. Dad sighed. "She better get here fast before the rain starts." He said, as he headed upstairs. Angel looked at me. I wrapped my arm around her waist.
"You okay?" I asked. She nodded and rested her head on my shoulder. "I like Skylar's grandma. She reminds me of my own." She said. I looked at her. "Angel was Andre and Nya really your only family?" I asked. She nodded. "Yep. I told you. My parents passed away in that plane crash. Nya and Andre was killed by Gustavo and I don't know anyone else in my family." She said.
"You mean to tell me you never met your aunts or uncles?" I asked. She sat down beside me. "No. My parents told me that my relatives didn't approve of their relationship. My Mom is black and my Dad is mixed. My Mom was dark skin and my Dad's parents didn't like that. They wanted a light skin grandchild. They got one but they still didn't like the fact that my Mom was dark skin." She said.
I scrunched up my face. "Why does it matter what color your skin is?" I asked. She shrugged. "I don't know. I actually think I look better as a dark skin but maybe that's just me." She said. I imagined Angel as a dark skin. Oh my Jesus Christ she would look like a fucking goddess. I then kissed Angel. "What was that for?" She asked, smiling. "For being cute." I said. "Yo! Calvin just told us that we have to leave?!" Riley said.
"Oh yeah. We're going to Norway." I said. "But my grandma is here. I can't just leave." Skylar said. "Maybe-" Angel was cut off by a guard. "Caleb, an old woman is here." She said. I walked over to a window and looked out it. "Skylar, is that her?" I asked. She looked out the window. "Yes that's her!!" She said, squealing. She opened the door. "Hi Nana!" She yelled. I cover my ears. All this squealing!!
Angel and Riley brought the old woman in. They sat down with Skylar and talked to her grandma. She looked at me. She stared at me. "Oh Nana, that's Caleb. The one I was telling you bout." Skylar said. I grabbed Skylar and pulled her to the side. "What have you told her about me?" I asked. "Relax. She only knows that you're Angel's baby daddy." She said, as she sat down. The girls talked to the old woman.
She did steal glances at me and said that I was cute. It made me uncomfortable so I left. I walked over to the stairs where Kyle and Ramón was at. "The old woman can't be Skylar's grandma. She looks...like she's seen some things." Kyle said. "Like what?" I asked. "I don't know but she gives me a bad vibe." He said. "Look at her tattoos. They look like they fresh." I said. "But they look dope though." Ramón. I nodded in agreement.
"Boys!" Dad said. We turned around to looked up at him. "I thought you were supposed to be packing up." He said, as he came downstairs. He paused when he seen the old woman. "Who she?" He asked. "Skylar's grandmother." I said. Dad stared at her. "Dang Dad. You staring mighty hard. Go talk to her." I said, laughing. He glared at me. "Shut up and go pack." He said. Me and the guys got up and walked upstairs.
We all packed up our stuff. I struggled to pack up my last suitcase. "Come on!!" I said, as I pushed down on the suitcase. I jumped on it but it wouldn't close. "Get out the way." Angel said, as she walked in. She sat down on the suitcase then zipped it closed. She smiled at me then walked out. "Show off!" I yelled. "Love you too babe." She yelled. I carried my suitcases downstairs. I saw Skylar's grandmother still here. She looked at me and stared.
Don't say anything Caleb. Just walk away. I walked outside to the cars. I put my suitcases away in the trunk. Then I closed it. I turned around and nearly jumped out of my skin. Skylar's grandmother was right there. "What are you doing out here? You know you gotta leave right?" I said. "Caleb what are your intentions with my granddaughter?" She asked. "What? None. Me and Skylar aren't together." I said.
"Oh that's right. You like Angel." She said, as she walked away towards the house. "Yes I love her." I said. "Why would you fall for someone when you already had someone else who loved you?" She muttered. I ran after her. "What did you just say?" I asked, sharply. "I said why would you fall for someone when you already had someone else who loved you?" She said, sternly. Her British accent was strong.
"Who are you talking about?" I asked, crossing my arms. She stared at me before speaking. "You know exactly who talking about. I know all about Loren." She said. "Well me and Loren weren't together. We were just....friends." I said. "Friend who mess around? I know all about you young people getting it on whenever you wanted to 'play'." She said. I scoffed. "What else have Skylar told you?" I asked. "Skylar didn't tell me any of this." She said, staring at me.
Oh hell no. "Alright you gotta leave." I said, touching her arm. She suddenly fainted. I stepped back. "Skylar? Skylar!!" I called. I ran to the house. I ran inside and upstairs. "Skylark!!" I yelled. She appeared in a doorway. "What's up?" She asked. "Your grandmother just fainted outside." I said. "What?" She cried, as she ran downstairs. We all ran after her. We got outside and to my surprise, the old woman was gone.
Skylar looked around then glared at me. "Caleb that's not funny. Don't do that to me." She said. "What? She was right here, on the ground." I said. "Caleb I think you're hallucinating." Mom said. "No I'm not. She was just here. And Skylar I think you told her about me and Loren." I said, as we walked back into the house. Skylar looked at me. "Caleb I haven't said anything about you or Loren to her." She said.
"Riley did you?" I asked. Riley shook her head. "Angel did you say something?" I asked. Angel shook her head. "No baby. Why would I bring up your past with Loren?" She said. "Caleb I think you need to rest. You're still probably sick." Kyle said. "No!! Guys I'm not crazy. Skylar's grandmother-" I was cut off by Skylar. "Caleb my grandma left ten minutes ago." She said. "What? No she was just out there, talking to me about Loren." I said.
"Caleb I think you need to go take a nap." Dad said. "No Dad. I'm not crazy. I-I know how this looks but...you gotta believe me." I said. Everyone all stared at me. "Caleb go take a nap. Rest up. I checked the time our plane leaves. We still have a few hours to kill." Dad said. He looked at Mom and whispered something in her ear. "Come on Caleb. We're going upstairs to the bed." Kyle said, as he and Ramón grabbed my arms.
I shrugged them off. "Guys I'm not crazy. She was just-" Kyle cut me off. "Caleb relax man. You're probably sleep deprived. You've been taking care of Angel so much. You haven't eaten anything since you woke up." He said. I shook my head and went upstairs. I walked to my room and laid down. Am I going crazy? Something moved in the corner of my eye. I turned around and jumped.
Skylar's grandmother was flying outside my window. She flew away when she seen some. I quickly sat up and moved over to the window. I opened it and looked around. There was no sign of her. I only saw guards, birds, tress, and bushes. I sighed and closed the window. Am I going crazy? I shook my head and sat down. "Caleb?" Angel called. I jumped. She stared at me. "Caleb are you feeling okay?" She asked. I shook my head.
"No. I thought I just saw Skylar's grandmother outside my window." I said. She stared at me. "Calvin!!" She called. I rolled my eyes. "No. Dad don't come up here! I'm fine." I said. Dad appeared next to Angel. "What's up?" He asked. "I think he's still hallucinating. He said he saw Skylar's grandmother outside his window." Angel said. "Son-"
I cut Dad off. "No Dad, she was there. I swear." I said.
They both stared at me. "I'm not crazy. I know what I saw!" I cried. "Okay Caleb, we're gonna quarantine you. Just stay in here and sleep til we come get you. Just go to sleep and try to get some good rest." Dad said, as he closed the door. I sighed irritably. I flopped down on the bed. "I'm not crazy." I muttered. "Of course you're not." Someone said. I looked over and saw Skylar's grandmother again.
She was outside the window. I rolled over on my side. I pulled the covers over my head and closed my eyes tight. Go to sleep Caleb. Go to sleep. About ten minutes later, I fell asleep. I guess I sleep good because when I woke up, I was positioned in a weird way. I look like I fell from the ten floor. I chuckled to myself and sat up. I saw Angel sitting at the foot of the bed. She had her back to me. I crept up behind her and hugged her.
She screamed and turned around. "Caleb that's not funny." She said. I smiled. "Sorry." I said. "Glad your up now." She said, as she stood up. She grabbed my hands and pulled me up out the bed. "Come on. Calvin is waiting on you." She said. We walked downstairs to the basement. Dad looked at us as we entered the room. "Ah Caleb. Your awake. Did you sleep good?" He asked.
"I guess." I said. "Good. No more seeing my grandmother." Skylar said. "Maybe Caleb likes her. Better watch out Angel. Looks like you got some serious competition." Ramón said. He and Kyle laughed. I glared at both of them. "Ew." I said. "Anyways, look. We're all leaving today. We're going to Norway. Hopefully this move to Norway will be enough to keep us safe from Gustavo." Dad began.
"Especially now that Peter is no longe on our side, we have to find more guards. More people to recruit." Mom said. "Exactly. I'm gonna find more men. More guards equal more protection." Dad said. I looked at Angel. She played with her fingers. "As strange as this is, I'm gonna miss this place." Riley said. "Me too. I remember that day Gustavo came over and it was just me, you, and Angel defending the house." Skylar said.
Angel smiled. "Honestly I still can't believe we did that." She said. "It was very impressive but hopefully that'll never happen again. Like I said, I'm gonna get more guards. There's plenty of people in Norway who I'm sure would love to be a part of this Mafia. Alright, let's go over this list and see if we're missing weapons. I don't wanna leave anything behind." Dad said. I looked down at Angel. "Hey Angel?" I called. She looked up at me.
"Hmm?" She answered. "Did you ever think of names for the baby?" I asked. She opened her mouth but was stopped by the sound of a boom. We all froze. We listened carefully. Then thunder sounded. We all relaxed. Then a guard ran in. "Boss!! The Russian Mafia is here!! We're under attack!!" He cried. "EVERYONE MOVE OUT!!" Dad shouted. I grabbed Angel and pulled her away. We ran upstairs and looked out the windows.
The Russian Mafia surrounded us. There was a LOT more guards than we had. "Dad!!" I called. He ran in the room. "We're outnumbered." I said. "Shit!! Look everyone get in the cars and fight for your life!!" He yelled. I covered Angel as we ran down the halls. "Angel, Skylar, and Riley you three go downstairs. You'll be safe. You'll get to cars out back. Boys go with them!!" Mom yelled. She ran downstairs and began shooting.
I looked at the guys. Oh man. Me, Kyle, and Ramón grabbed the girls and ran downstairs towards the basement. "This cannot be happening!!" Kyle cried. "Oh man! Oh man! OH MAN!" Ramón cried. As we ran down the halls, Angel suddenly stopped. So did Skylar and so did Riley. I looked back at them. "Guys come on. We gotta go." I said. Angel looked at me then shook her head. I thought she was about to throw up.
Instead, she started glowing, like really glowing. They all did. Then they all let loose a flash of bright light. Angel sighed and looked at me. Then we heard something spill. We looked down and saw that Angel's water had broke. So did Skylar's and Riley. "Oh no. God no." I said. Angel looked up at me with horror in her eyes. "Oh no." Kyle said. "Not now." Ramón said. Angel grunted in pain.
I grabbed her and pulled her off towards the basement. Not now. not now. NOT NOW!!
