"Hey, I already asked you once, can you please go do you're dishes in the sink? " I asked my younger sister, an 8 year old riddled with ADHD. She groaned, stamping down her crayon in the middle of her page. "Why do I have to do it? " She wined.
I raised an eyebrow, and looked down at her. "Because you know the dishes in the sink are yours. And unless you want them to stay dirty for the next week, I highly suggest going and getting them down now. " I said, pointing at the kitchen. After that explanation, she groaned again but got up to go do them anyway.
The second she got up and walked in, I heard the familiar sound of cats fighting. "Tigger! " I yelled, running into my parents room where the 2 cats are wrestling. I picked them both up by their collars, plopped one on the bed and the other into the next room. They both had poofed tails but they didn't try to go after each other again.
My mother, who was doing laundry was humming quietly to a song that was playing. I watched as she tried to put a shirt onto a hanger, but instead of putting the hanger into the head hole, it just pushed against the shirt. She kept pushing and I knew what was coming. 𝙎𝙣𝙖𝙥. The hanger broke in half and she screamed. "Mother. The hanger wasn't going into the hole. " I said with a light chuckle. She sighed and placed the shirt down.
"Have you heard from any of the colleges yet? " She asked, picking up the broken hanger pieces and placing them on the edge of the bed. I went and sat down, picking up one of the broken sides to twiddle with as I spoke. "No, not yet. But remember, we do have from today till Tuesday next week to hear from any of them. " I said, placing the piece down and connecting the 2, as if they weren't snapped. She nodded and went back to hanging laundry.
"What would you do if you heard back from UKC?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. My body jumped with excitement when she asked that question.
UKC was the University of Knowledge and Creativity. Its located at City Center, the one really big city that's the center of our country. UKC was built about 100 years ago, taking spot as one of the most prestigious universities to have ever existed.
Our country, a big green Forest filled with wild life and natural resources galore, got it's first inhabitants over 1 million years ago. From that point on, us humans have ravaged the forest, almost killing it completely before we finally decided that enough was enough. Vale Corp, the biggest and best industry of our country created a big city called City Center, where all of the technological advances were made. The valleys on the outskirts of the city were dedicated to keeping the plant and animal life safe and thriving.
That's where we lived. One of the valleys. We have colleges out here, but if you really want to make it into the world, going to UKC was one of the places to do so. Mostly because the UKC was owned by Vale Corp. That school holds the key to being successful. So if you get in, you're set for life.
