Chapter 58 - Pythons

"Cassandra!"

It was the first time I had heard another voice in this rainforest and at first, I assumed I was hallucinating.

It sounded like it came from the sky so I tilted my face to look up.

Dead branches snapped so loud and I quickly ducked and covered my head with my hands to protect myself from injuries.

There was a thump of something dropping to the ground.

It was the largest snake I had ever seen.

This was the first and the last time I would see a snake around four meters long, approximately, because I would probably be dead already to tell the tale.

The python had a triangular-shaped head and sharp, backward-curving teeth that they use to grab prey. 

It must have been hanging from the branches and had dropped when the branches couldn't carry its body anymore as it slithered on my feet.

Grinding my teeth together, I didn't dare move as the python wrapped its body scales on my left calf.
