I wanted to scream at the pain, but then I stopped myself. There was skipping, scuffing sound, and a rush of wind. Then I dared to open my eyes.
In less than five minutes, Gabriel had arrived as he jumped out of the driver's seat of his car, his eyes going straight to mine and held them. He stood towering over me, his body tense, and his eyes scanned the distance for something that I couldn't see from my position on the ground.
I groaned. "Who are you looking for?"
At first Gabriel's angular face was set with determination, but it quickly morphed into shock and then confusion.
"Where is Lysander?" Gabriel knelt on the floor next to me while I panted, trying to relax my muscles.
I couldn't think two coherent thoughts in a row, let alone explain myself to anyone. I opened my mouth, but nothing came out so I tried again. "I told him to go home and he didn't need to wait for me because I had an extra class."
