Chapter 27 - Underworld

I was standing on rocky, deserted terrain and the sun was beating down hard on me. The rocks were pale yellow and sharp, and there were angry little bushes with their lousy thorns. A single twisted tree grew out of the next slope.

I yelled across the barren land for Gabriel. Maybe, he was the one who sent me here again after ignoring him before I went to sleep. He had this annoying habit of inserting himself in my dreams.

"Gabriel," I screamed once again. "Show yourself."

I don't even know where I am or if this is a real place or a figment of my imagination.

Everything fell silent. I heard footfalls behind me as someone approached, but kept my eyes on the dusty ground in case it was a trick.

One minute, I was alone. And then I wasn't.

"You could stop screeching now." He asked a surprisingly gentle voice. "The spirits in the Underworld does not like it."

I dared to raise my eyes and saw a very tall, robust figure standing in front of me.
