"Gabriel." Cornelius called back and Gabriel paused from attempting to carry me without fully turning around to look at his father. " Before the two of you get back to your room, I would like to confer with you in my study."
"You don't have to do this if you don't want to," Gabriel murmured, making sure that I was the only one who could hear him.
"No, its fine, Gabriel," I whispered back. "As long as your dad wouldn't kill me and stuff my dead body in a trapdoor--"
"Don't worry," Gabriel whispered, his soft breath tickling my ears. "I will protect you."
"I can protect myself but thanks," I replied as a traitorous glow started to grow on my cheeks.
Why is Gabriel acting so lovey-dovey with me in front of his father and his fiancé?
Didn't he feel awkward? I would if I behaved like this with him in front of mom.
The way he acted screamed a hidden agenda. Or maybe I was too paranoid.
