"What are you waiting for?" I scowled. "You could just dig in!"
It was awkward as hell and they look like four attractive dummies. Did they think I couldn't see them if they act like rocks? I pretended I wasn't disconcerted as they watch me with rapt attention as I put butter in their French Toasts.
"After you're done." Gabriel grinned mischievously.
Ah, I get it. They were waiting for me to get settled before eating. I see these uninvited guests do have manners.
"Mrs. Reid, please join us here on the table," Raven said sweetly as he moved closer to the left to give my mom space.
"It's fine." Mom shook her head, smiling. "There was no more space."
"Then Leif would sacrifice himself and die for your sake to acquire the most coveted seat." Lysander chuckled and looked me in the eye as if sharing an inside joke with me.
"It's okay, Mrs. Reid, I'll just stand," Raven said as he stood up from his chair along with his precious bowl.
