As the day went on, I kept my composure, my smile on my face, and I ignored that I was thirsty, hungry, and tired. My face started to hurt. Once done with the lines, I worked my way to each of the groups and solos. I tried to look natural as I shifted my weight and ate a donut while I talked with a group that was sitting and eating. The groups were somewhat annoying, but much more informative of each person's personality. A tanned loner with dark hair and dark eyes sat at a boothe.
"You didn't join the dance?" I asked him.
"Nope. Do you want something to drink?" He seemed sincere. He also struck me as familiar, but I couldn't figure out why. I told him I would enjoy a drink and he offered tea. Tea... He was the boy from outside the castle!
We talked for a while and he was rather interesting. His reactions were fun to watch too. He was expressive when he talked about animals, and he had a tendency to laugh or smile more when he felt awkward. His smile was nice too. After some time I left. I couldn't show favorites. My father seemed to be waiting quite expectantly after the ball.
"How'd it go?"
"It went well I think..." I had to make a decision. Caden, Lucas, Zane, Aki, or Niko? I had a good variety at least. I liked Caden and Niko the most so far. Lucas was too soft for the role. Aki was nice and smart, but maybe a little full of himself. Zane was kinda quiet and shy, almost came off as timid, but he was nice too. He was a good guy, but I don't think he is suited for the role of future king either.
"Do you have any guys you want to see again?" Father irritably interrupted my thoughts.
"Yes, father. Do you wish me to bring them to you? Or just say their names?" I had no idea how this part was actually done.
"Bring them to me. I will have servants notify their parents as they stay here."
Out of a group I found Niko.
"So how do you think things will go for you?" One boy asked.
"Do you think she even noticed you among all the others?" Asked another.
"Well, I guess I can't really know for sure, can I? At least I'm not forcing my way into other's business though. I know you are scouting for information, but I don't intend on giving you any."
"You as-"
"Excuse me?" I intervened. "Niko, can you come with me? It seems like things are done here anyway."
"Yes, my lady." He smirked as some of the guys behind him glared.
Next was Caden. Aki was next to him. Since they were together anyway, I figured why not just grab them both?
"Can you two come with me as well?"
"Yes, madam." Said Aki, seeming slightly disappointed.
"Yeah, sure." Caden sounded more casual, but I saw a glimmer of excitement in his eye.
