Ian did not mean to hurt the woman he loved. He would have stopped if she asked him, he would have slowed down if she asked him, and he would have been gentler if she asked him. However, she did not do any of those things. In fact, when he asked Mina if she wanted him to stop, she begged him not to. Still, it did not make him feel any better to know that his fiancé was in pain. He gently dripped water onto her back before lathering soap in his hands to massage her neck and shoulders with it.
As Ian's hands traveled down to the more intimate parts of Mina's body, he could feel her tense, likely unsure if she could handle being with him again. Fortunately, he was not a monster; he knew when to push and when to pull away, and right now was one of those times. Even if she wanted to, it would be hard for him to become aroused, knowing that the person he wanted to share the rest of his life with was in pain because of him.
