Synopsis
When people look to the supernatural, they usually over exaggerate on what they believe in. I've grown up around the strange and weird, and I turned out fine. Well, relatively. Honestly there is nothing really "super" about being different from the rest of humans. I mean it is like comparing apples and oranges, both are nice but can also kill you in circumstances. Sure humans don't have to kill, but it is still in their nature to do so. They just go about it in different ways, for us that nature is more pronounced so it is more of a commodity. Other than that we are just like everybody else, well more weird and violence prone but still. We live, we kill, we love. And disputes between us can be resolved usually after a bloody fight or two. Although some do tend to hold grudges. I myself had to learn that fact while learning my heritage at the academy. After I was disconnected from the supernatural for awhile. Anyway, that's just my life. It's not bad and could be better, but that's everybody. I wish everybody would stop fighting around me however. Maybe I could even get a official girlfriend... Saving that thought for later... Oh yeah, never said my name did I. My name's Alexi, but I prefer Alex. Just your regular "human" guy who was found in the woods as a little tyke. Although, some could make a compelling argument against that.

Chapter 1 - Prologue: A Cold Heart Melts

Disclaimer: I am using horror characters from all over that I know of. So you'll see classics and newer things like from DBD. Also know there will be some gender bending to suit my needs and likes. Enjoy and please don't go after me if you don't like it! Thank you!

.

Talking: "That is so you!"

Thinking: 'I really need to get a girlfriend.'

Foreign Language: ´We really need to get a translator around here.`

Sounds: *BANG!*

.

.

.

"Rah!"

.

Everything seemingly paused for a moment in the snow before it resumed. A spurt of blood followed with a animal's final groan took up the clearing leaving the image now shown.

.

A giant muscular young women cloaked in heavy clothes, overalls, and a rabbit mask stood hunched over panting from her work. Laying dead before her with a axe lodged in it's neck was a monster of a moose. It was a prize any common hunter would be envious of, to a Huntress like her however it was just food.

.

Standing back up she groaned and stretched, helping to relax her muscles from the strain of overworking them. She still had to carry it home and prepare it after all.

.

Walking over to the beast we see that she was barefoot in the snow, her feet painted black from the wilderness. Grabbing a antler in each hand she began to haul the once mighty beast to her home, dragging it all the way. She could have easily picked it up and run home with her strength, but with her newer home being winter almost year round she still plenty of time to hunt. Not that she needed to, she still had enough food to last her awhile.

.

Making it back to her humble cabin, she couldn't help but sign at her lot in life. Hunting was all she knew, her Mother gave her the name Anna and taught her to survive just like her Grandmother taught her. She lived for the hunt, but she always wished she had a little one of her own, just like when she herself was small.

.

That way she could teach them all she knew, and keep up the family tradition. A few times she took little ones from villages, she knew it was wrong but she cared for them. But they always ran off, she found them but they all died from not knowing how to live in the forest.

.

"*Sigh*"

.

Picking up the moose again, she began to drag it to the side of the cabin towards the cellar. Opening the doors, she heaved the dead moose up and threw it down the stairs. Afterwards locking it back up, not wanting any animals in her realm to eat any of her food.

.

Her current home was modeled very closely to her old home in the real world, even to the littlest detail. The animals she hunted were all real, the people in villages were all real, everything was real, but it always felt a little off.

.

She was on a vacation of sorts you could say. The Boss has many others to do its work in the trials, so she could afford to take some time off to relax. While she lived for the hunt, even she need some time to just relax. After hunting the same exact humans for so long it gets kind of tedious. Honestly, she couldn't remember exactly how long ago she was recruited for the Trials.

.

She hasn't aged a day since she "died," she knew that. It was just like any other day when it happened.

.

.

.

Flashback:

Men wearing strangely colored clothes and wielding the fire spears were going through my forest again. I had already took down several groups but today I was tracking them to their "den."

.

While you wouldn't think so I could be quite sneaky for someone of my size. I learned a long time ago that pure strength doesn't put food in your belly.

.

'They have to be hoarding food and have a fresh source of water. Melted snow can only get you so far. So, it was most likely they are camped at the hot springs.'

.

'Their food stores are easy enough, all I needed to do for the water is drown a few bodies to make it unsafe to drink.'

.

'I'm rather fond of those springs for bathing, so this is a bother. The sooner they're gone the better.'

.

'It's currently a little after sundown. Once I reach the springs I'll wait for most of them to be asleep before I start.'

.

Moving through the trees the closer I get the more worried I feel becoming. Shaking my head I focus my hearing more and quiet my footsteps. Putting more pressure on the balls of my feet with each step.

.

As I neared the springs the sounds of the "Men" became more like "Beasts" by the second.

.

Arriving at the edge of the woods I crouch behind a tree before taking in the sight before me.

.

The springs naturally came at the base of the south side of the mountain my home was based around. A small river drained out of it heading south before going east towards the plains. I was currently in the southwest woods, also I was not liking the changes they made at all.

.

They had widened the clearing around the river by three times it was before and put up wooden stakes in the ground halfway to the new treeline. And on both sides of the river in fact!

.

White cloth tents mostly made up the center surrounding the largest at the middle of the east side. Four of the tents around the largest had red crosses painted on them. Closer to the springs on the west side appeared to be a shack with a guard, that is where I believe their food was being stored. At various points around the camp their gear could be seen set up or just laying around, but mostly also on the west side.

.

'The big tent probably has things I could use, along with the tents with the crosses. I should spill any of that black powder they have. I'll just kill the guard at the shack and drown his body to take care of the water.'

.

'But what to do about the food? I should probably just put a hole in the wall to spoil the meat and attract some animals. But, that can't be it.'

.

Getting an idea I grab my bag of supplies and shuffle through it. Grabbing a small box I inspect it to see if it is still intact.

.

The box wasn't anything special, it was only made of carved wood and wasn't treated with anything. But inside it was what I needed.

.

Filled to the brim inside was hunting bait.

.

While every hunter used bait at some point in their live this one was special.

.

It was a recipe she made to attract very strong prey to her. Bears, wolves, even boars couldn't resist the scent of the bait. It is a very good bait as well, having a strong scent that spread very far.

.

'Mixing it with their food supply is a good idea I'm pretty sure. I barely have to do much work. Well, no time like the present.'

.

.

'I hate the working the fucking nightwatch. It's my bunkmates turn, and what does he go and do? Take a wrong turn while hunting and twist his ankle from a broken branch. It was probably on purpose too, we heard about him being it this morning at breakfast. And he just so happened to be in a tree when the branch snapped.'

.

I am just standing guard at the west gate of camp, because the idiot who was supposed to got injured.

.

Fiddling with my rifle I take off the bayonet before slinging it over my back. I don't want to get nicked while I'm walking around.

.

Every now and then we are supposed to do a little patrol around the fence to cover everything. But honestly it is just supposed to keep us from falling asleep on the job. Which is what I'd rather be doing in my own bed back home.

.

Finishing up the route I go back to my spot next to the gate. The imprints of others that were in place could even be seen in the dirt.

.

Glancing towards the treeline I see some bushes move before stopping. I blink once at that before shaking my head. 'I've been out here so long I am starting to see things. Next thing I'll know, I'll be seeing giant, beautiful women.'

.

*woosh!*

.

'What's that noise-'

.

*Thunk!* *Thud*

.

.

'That was easier that I thought. Could've sworn he saw me for second there.'

.

Standing up from my hiding spot I start walking towards the gate while keeping to the trails they already set. Staring at the guard I set him up properly so that he looks like he went to sleep on his own.

.

With that I begin my plan.

.

.

.

'Well this was boring.'

.

I put holes in a few of a few sacks of the black powder with a knife I stole from one of the piles. I made it so it looks mice got to them.

.

'And I have to say this knife is pretty nice. But, I prefer my axes any day.'

.

'Also, I already finished mixing the bait and their food. Now I just wait for this guy to stop peeing and drown his body. Must be easier for them.'

.

"Ah~" *zip*

.

'Now you die.'

.

"Hm?"

.

As he turns around hearing me approach him I grab him by his throat and lift him up.

.

Knowing he'll panic I start moderately choking him. Not hard enough to kill him, but enough to keep him quiet.

.

Dragging him up to the springs I finally throw him into the deep end of it. As he breaks out to the surface and thrashes about I unsling one of my axes.

.

Once he catches his breathe I grab him by his head to hold him down.

.

"´No! No! Please-!`"

.

Raising my axe I quickly slam it into his neck and kill him.

.

*Groan* *spurt*

.

And with that he is dead. Grabbing some rocks nearby I fill his pockets so his body doesn't float. He is somewhat thin so it is better safe than sorry.

.

Placing him in I stand up and begin my trek back home.

.

Halfway to my cabin I stop, I was being followed. Unslinging my main axe I put another in my left hand in case I have to throw it. The woods seem to still for a moment before my followers reveal themselves.

.

With a low howl a pack of wolves step out from the foliage. Many were thin, and all of them had a hint of madness in their eyes.

.

'Starving wolves? But why did they go for me and not that camp? The bait... just my luck. I made it too well.'

.

*ARWOO!*

.

Just as one started howling I threw my second axe, nailing another in the head. The others charged and my main axe was swung.

.

With each swing a wolf was sent flying, but two more keep seeming to take its place. Eventually I was dragged to the ground with the wolves biting me.

.

When I woke up I was standing healed in a strange gated off area. In my new job I was allowed to hunt once more.

.

.

.

Flashback End:

'And I've been here ever since.'

.

Sitting on my porch steps I lay back idly to take quick nap. I am on vacation, so I might as well relax.

.

As I start to hum my mother's lullaby, I feel my home start to rumble. Which was strange because my home has never had any earthquakes.

.

Eventually it stops so I go back to relaxing. But, I am interrupted again by a loud boom and a strange sound being rung out.

.

*BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!*

.

Angered and intrigued I stand up, grabbing one of my axes and make my way towards the annoying sound.

.

The closer I get the louder and more annoying it becomes. As I get in sight of the object the noise finally starts to whine down. But, the object was strange it looked like a cross between one of the generators and a wagon crashed into a large tree.

.

With the annoying noise finally dead I start to leave, before I could another sound came out from the machine.

.

"Wah wa waah!"

.

Moving to it again I peer into it from the left side. Behind a wheel like object was a blonde haired man dead, his face was covered by a white blanket like object.

.

On the other side of him was a foreign women who looked similar to one of her friends at work. She was also dead, having long black hair and somewhat pale skin.

.

Behind them was the source of the new noise. It was incredibly small, especially compared to her. It had similar looks to the deceased women in front with somewhat pale skin and black hair. But that is where the similarities end, I assume it took some looks from the man in front as well.

.

'What to do with you?'

.

Reaching in I picked up the strange basket that held it. Holding the babe in my arms I notice "it" was a "he," and he couldn't be more than a year old. With nothing left for me there I make my decision and starting walking home with him in my arms.

.

Before I continue inside the door I stop, having to think about something important.

.

"Hmm, your name will be Alexi." With that I continue inside my home, with my family now being larger by one.

.

.

.

17 Years Later...

"Ah! Thank you for coming down Alex. I've just received some wonderful news for you over the phone and a letter for you!"

.

"No problem Father Jones. What seems to be the issue?"

.

"No, no. There's no issue at all. I know you have been having trouble with finding the right college for you to attend. But! I believe I have just the answer!"

.

The Father then handed me a dark envelope marked with a wax seal.

.

"You have been offered a full scholarship to a very exclusive academy called Hallow Fields! I even researched it and they are so exclusive that no one really knows exactly how to get accepted in! All graduates are guaranteed to be successful in their future jobs! I can't be more proud of you! Oh, to think someone from our orphanage would get accepted to such a prestigious school!"

.

Glancing at envelope I get a strangely warm chill down my spine.

.

'I am somewhat afraid of what is going to happen.'
