Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

Esmé's POV

"Right, I'll send you the documents when we are done with this part." I said as i dismissed the meeting.

Reaching my office, i turned on my laptop to finish next week's report. Not seconds later i heard knocking on the wooden door of my office.

"Come in." I said without sparing a glance at the door as i continue to type on the laptop.

"Miss y/n!" A voice, whom i recognized to be my assistants, spoke.

"Yes?" I briefly glanced at her as i clicked the save button.

"I got a call from Jasper's collage. He is skipping classes again."

Sighing i pinched the bridge of my nose.

"Where did he go?"

"He went to some local bar."

Not again.

"Get the car ready, ill go there by myself." I said as i turned.

"Do you want me to take you downstairs?" Avery asked.

"No, its ok. Ill manage." I said giving her a tired smile.

She nodded as she left the room.

Behind my desk was a big window, enough to show the busy city. My office was on 20th floor, there were 25floors total, so i got a pretty view of everything going on in the city.

Placing my hand on the wheels of my wheel chair, i started making my ways towards the exit. Pressing the lift button i waited patiently for the lift to arrive. Dad didn't want me to use the same lift as the rest so he made sure there was one for me alone so i don't have a problem, even though i asked him not to.

The doors open to reveal a women all to known to me. Getting in the lift i pressed the ground floor button.

The women removed her sun glasses as she spoke,

"I presume you know where Jasper is. Get him home before your dad finds out. If you failed to do so, you know what will happen." The women said placing her shades back on.

"Yes mother." I said looking down, avoiding to look at her.

"Good." She said stepping out of the lift on 15th floor. Why, I don't know.

Avery stood at the front of lift waiting for me. She helped me into the car in garage. Everyone greeted me as i strolled passed them. I smiled in return.

Getting in the car, i closed my eyes trying to give the little rest they could get.

Life hasn't always been this hard for me. There was time when there was nothing but pure joy in my life.

I was two when mom died. Dad was devastated, he loved mom, he never imagined life without her, for they had a love marriage. Dad was and still is a very successful business man. Me being the elder child had to take over after him. Dad waited two years till he remarried to Athena. She was nice at start but she wasn't what she seemed, i learnt that the hard way. I was five when mother and dad had Jasper.

He was like a angle. I always wanted a brother and i got him. Mother and father were never home, always on business meeting and parties that they barely had time for both of us. But i made sure Jasper didn't felt left out at all. I was like a mother and father, both for him.

We grew up together and were closer then ever. We never had secrets between us and never had i ever made him feel like he was my step brother. Jasper didn't knew that. And i wanted to keep it like that.

Mother always wanted Jasper to take over father's business but he had no interest, well neither did I. I wanted to become a doctor. I don't know much but i remember father once telling me that how mom had always wanted a girl so she could become a doctor. Mom wanted to become a doctor too but grandpa and grandma wanted her to peruse law. She wanted her daughter to fulfil her wishes. I never knew her, but her wish became my dream. And i even got into a medical university but i got pulled back into business.

I remember how hard it was for me in collage, managing business and sciences together, hoping dad would change his mind and let me do medical. But i was wrong. I was given a choice, so its mostly my fault to end up here, in business.

Jasper had an amazing voice, he started singing when he was seven and i never stopped him. Instead i encouraged him. I didn't knew that this would soon turn into a dream. He wanted to pursue music. Mother was so against it and so was father. Mother asked me to stop him before she takes matter into her own hands. And I don't want that. It is his dream. I know how much it hurts when you can't fulfil your dreams, plus i was there to encourage him to continue singing. I never intended it to go this far.

Getting into the bar, Avery right by my side, she directed me to Jasper's direct location. Opening the door, all attention turned to me. There were three people in the room.

"Can you all kindly give me a few minutes alone with Jasper."

Lately he has been so distant, i know its because of me stopping him from going for music but I'm just trying to help him.

They all nodded as they slowly made their way out of the room.

"How many times do i have to tell you to stop!!!" I slightly yelled, annoyed at his behavior.

"Esmé..."

"NO! Don't you dare try to emotional blackmail me this time. This is plain out stupid. Your missing your classes for what, some goddamn music. For heaven sake, this music of yours will never be enough!! Music is stupid." I felt bad to say all those words to him. I know how much it would've hurt him hearing this come from me.

He ran out of the room making me sigh.

Turning the wheels around i pushed it to make my way out of this god damn bar.

"Look i don't know who you are lady but that was not just rude but also disrespectful. How can you insult someone's interest." I turned to see a boy near my age standing there.

"Its none of your business!" I gritted my teeth.

"And you don't even know how to talk to others. You lack basic human decency."

Ignoring him i just went out of the club.

People these days are honestly so nosy.
