Chapter 6 - Not Yet Ready

The sun rays slipped through the hospital curtain as Leo and Isla sat side by side. Jennifer was lying on the bed and George was sitting in front of them, holding their marriage papers.

Leo had a emotionless expression on his face as he signed the papers that his father has forwarded.

He was calm , his jet black hairs falling on his face perfectly. He handed the paper to the trembling girl sitting just beside him , keep a safe distance. Her long hair falling around her as a brown curtain. Leo noticed how the her hands were shaking.

Isla took a deep breath, before signing on the papers, effectively bonding both of them in a relation called marriage.

"If that is all, then I would like to leave. I have work to do." Leo said as he stood and walked towards Jennifer who was looking at him with tears in her beautiful eyes and sad smile on her lips.

He leaned down and Jennifer cupped his face with her bony hands, kissing his forehead.

"Thank you." She said to which Leo just nodded and left the room without saying anything.

The fact that it is a wish of a dying person was the only thing that Leo cared about. He seemed real calm but he was so stressed. Don't mind him but no one wants to get married to a complete stranger, especially if the girl is extremely young than him.

He don't know anything about the person who is now his wife. Don't know about her qualifications.

Leo is so damn sure that he will give his new wife a divorce because he is not a husband material.

He sat in the car and made his way towards his friends home. He needs to clear his head that was a mess right now.

As he walked up to his friends apartment he can't help but think how his life has turned upside down.

He knocked the door for few times and the door , he had his head hang because now the gravity of the situation was consuming him whole.

" What's up, man?" Gabriel asked as he opened the door, instantly frowning at his friends state whose hairs were sticking in every direction, maybe because he had ran his hand through them too much.

" Won't you congratulate me on marriage?"

...

"So you are telling me that you got married just now, like this? Just like this?" Gabriel said as Jessica, his wife sat beside him with a tray holding soda. The couple had a weird expression and were almost mirroring eachother and any other day , Leo would have laughed at their expression but right now , he is going through crisis.

"Yeah. Just like this. This is the third time you are asking me ." He said with a infamous roll of his eyes.

" Yeah that's true because, you, Leo Pattinson, who is known to be hottest bachelor of the country, is now married and that doesn't happen all the time." Gabriel said and Jessica elbowed his ribs, making him frown at his wife.

" Don't make fun of him, Gabe. " She scolded. Her piercing blue eyes were looking at Gabe with a intense gaze. She turned to Leo who had his elbows on his knees as he sat on sofa." Don't think about it much." She tried to explain Leo who looked at her with disbelief in his eyes.

" Don't think about it?! I am not very sure that if I can do that." He said, sarcasm in his voice was clear but Jessica didn't looked tiny bit hazed. " I can't believe that I am a married man now and that too with someone I don't know." Leo whined and he didn't even look a smart , cold hearted CEO of the best company.

Though that is his part that is hidden from the outer world, that usually comes out just in front of his friends.

"Well, we can't believe either but just don't jump on the conclusion already. No one is forcing you to love her or something. Though I Am not sure that you are ever able to love someone." Jess said , with an intention to tease Leo, but he was far from being playful at this moment.

" I am not even planning to love her for your kind information. And yead , I don't even know whether I am capable of this stupid married life." Leo said and the couple looked at him with unreadable expression, they were confused too about what they really want to say with a stubborn man who Leo is.

" Let it go just by flow, I guess ,cause seriously I don't know what to say to you. But Leo," Jess called , making the young man look at her. " The girl, I mean your wife, she is also going through a lot of things. So whatever you do just think before doing so." She said, her eyes were soft and Leo had always taken her as his own older sister.

Come to think of it, indeed, Isla is going through a lot. From what he had learnt from his father, Isla and Jennifer had always been alone, so it must be hard and it makes everything even more hard that Leo don't really have any reason to be angry with the girl, unless she is a gold digger shown exactly in many TV shows.

Leo prays that the girl should be a gold digger because that is the only reason to not feel sympathy towards the younger girl.

...

Isla sat beside his mom's bed, head resting against her mother's arm. She is asleep. The said girl haven't even slept properly for weeks now.

Her mind is always clogged up with the fear of loosing her mother, her only family

"Isla?"

"Isla?"

A soft voice of her mother made her wake up.  Her grey eyes zeroing on her mother's,  before being entirely awake.

" Mom? What is it? " She asked softly as she stood up from the chair. She ran her soft delicate hand over her mother's soft scalp.

" Just bring some water for me . I am thirsty." She said and Isla instantly made her way towards the bedside table where glasses and water bottles were kept.

She pour the water into the glass and by making her mother sit in a sitting position, she helped her to drink some water.

"God bless you, sweetheart." Her mother said with a soft ,tired smile but filled with affectionate nonetheless.

Isla smiled back and sat on the chair again, taking her mother's hand into hers and gently placing a soft kiss on her hand.

"I am so relieved that you are in better hands now, Illy. I am happy now. I can die in peace." she said as she looked at her daughter with a sad smile. Isla remained silent, not knowing what to say. Even though he wants to say a lot, she is after that her words can effect her mother badly.

" Just sleep mom. It is late now. You should be well rested." Isla said, as she stood and placed the blanket securely around her mother's body, effectively keeping her away from the harsh cold.

"Isla?" she heard her mother call, she immediately sat on the chair. " just be beside me tonight." jennifer said, as she held her daughter's hand in a death grip, afraid that she will leave her.

"Ofcourse, mom. I am not going anywhere." she said and placed her head on her mother's chest, listening to her heart beat, until she fell asleep.

Jennifer smiled as she patted her daughter's hair, knowing well what will happen soon.

Isla woke up at the middle of the night feeling thirsty then ever. She sat straight and took the bottle from the nightstand and pour some water in the glasses.

She was still half asleep, but once she felt the room silent, extremely silent. Something was missing and she knew exactly.

The constant beeping of the machine was off, she looked at her mother whose chest wasn't rising anymore.

She felt her chest tighten as she ran out of the room, screaming on top of her lungs. But deep inside she knew too, she knew but yet wasn't ready to admit that she has lost her mother, forever.
