"Peter! You told me that you weren't gonna do that!" Ella shouted. "You promised!"
"Did I?" Peter laughed before walking towards Nicholas. "Because of him, you can't love me!"
"Oh, so that's your problem." Nicholas rolled his eyes. "I don't like her anyway. What's the use of keeping us here?"
"It's better if I end your life so that she'll—"
"Nothing would change even if you'd do that." Ella touched his shoulder. "I'd rather die than be with a man I don't even love."
"Well there's no harm in trying." Peter smiled. "If I can't be happy, then you can't too, Ella!
"What are you saying? We—"
Just as Ella was about to finish what she was saying, Peter brought out a dagger, but as he was about to thrust the dagger into Nicholas' stomach, Ella swiftly blocked the strike from Nicholas. The pain then penetrated to Ella as she vomited blood and fell to the ground.
"Ella?" Nicholas and Adeline looked at the bleeding woman in front of them.
"No!" Peter stood frozen as he slowly dropped the dagger from his hands. "Ella, how could you do that?"
"I might not be able to be with him, but I want him to stay happy is he is now!"
"You..."
"Feel guilty now?" Ella smiled as blood started dripping from her mouth. "I can't believe I had to do this to make you realize—"
"You're sacrificing your life for a man who doesn't even love you!"
"Let's just say you've got justice then....justice for Beatrice's death." Ella breathed heavily before taking her last breath. "Congrats, Peter...you've finally killed me."
"This is all your fault!" Peter grabbed Nicholas shirt. "If it weren't for her, you would've been dead by now!"
"If it pleases you, kill me then." Nicholas closed his eyes.
"Nic!" Adeline shouted. "Why would you—"
"You really think I can't?" Peter bursted into tears as he clenched his fist. "Just why..." he fell to his knees. "Just why did you have to be the one? Why did you have to be the one she would risk her life for? I was the one who was always there when you weren't...but why did she still choose you?"
"You can't control what you feel about a person, Peter," Adeline sighed. "Sometimes it's better to let go than hold onto something that's hurting you."
"No!" Peter brought out a riffle and pointed it to her head. "If I can't have her, then Nicholas shouldn't have you too!"
"Let's see about that." Nicholas smiled.
"W-Why do you seem so calm?
"Is there a reason to be afraid then?"
"You... I'm about to kill your—"
"The police are outside." Nicholas smirked before hearing a bunch of people banging the door.
"You! How did you know where—"
"I can outsmart you, Peter." Nicholas stood up. "Like always."
A couple of days later, as Nicholas and Adeline were on their way home from work, Molly and Jacob unexpectedly barged in the room to ask how they've been doing.
Adeline giggled. "Do we look like we're hurt?"
"I couldn't believe Peter would do that." Molly clenched her fist. "Just tell us if you guys need anything."
"He's been caught." Nicholas smiled. "That's more than enough for me."
"Was he sentenced to dea—"
"I'm not sure about that though." Nicholas looked at Adeline. "At least he's with his father now."
(In prison)
"Father...y-you're still alive...?" Peter started trembling in fear as he gripped the bars of the cage.
"What do you expect then? The opposite?" a man replied. "I've been waiting for you, son...and you've finally came!"
"You've been here for more than ten years! Why aren't they still—"
"You'll always be a son of a murderer." the man smiled. "You'll end up like me, son. That's our destiny."
