A few weeks later...
(In Molly's apartment)
"I'm sure you've heard the news about Abigail's marriage." Molly took a sip of her tea.
Jacob's eyes widened. "With who?"
"Noah."
"Who's he?"
"It doesn't matter. The point is, Abby doesn't have anything to do with your mother's death."
"What makes you say so?"
"Think about this then." Molly leaned back on her chair. "Is there any reason for her to despise Nicholas?"
Jacob shrugged his shoulders. "I'm just assuming."
"Well I've got someone to investigate the her." Molly handed him a folder. "Take a look at this."
When Jacob opened the folder, he saw Ella's picture inside along with some information about the man that killed his mother.
"So you're saying Ella's teaming up with him?"
"Could be."
"B-But why would she have a grudge against Nic?"
"It's not her that has one," Molly sighed. "It's the man she's working for."
"This must be a joke."
"Do you think I'm tricking you?"
"It's not that." Jacob sat down beside her. "But we haven't even got a picture of that man."
"Then we'll—"
"It's gonna be too late. Ella and that man would've done something by then."
"What makes you think they're that strong?"
"I've met the man before." Jacob looked at the ceiling. "He's more than just a murderer."
(Flashback)
Three years ago...
"Where's my mother? You told me that I'd get to see her." Jacob clenched his fist.
"Oh, you mean her." The man brought out a dagger and pointed it towards him. "What do you think I've done?"
"What did you do to her?" Jacob slammed the table.
"Calm down. She's just locked up in my room."
Instead of responding, Jacob attempted to remove the man's mask, but before he could even touch it, the man swiftly grabbed his arm and twisted it. He recoiled in pain, but after a split second his adrenaline took over. He then grabbed his legs and pulled him down onto the concrete, but the man was able to kick his stomach, making Jacob's head slam on the floor.
"You're nothing against me." The man brushed off the dust from his shoulder. "If you don't wanna get hurt, you better not defy me."
Jacob slowly stood up as he wiped off the blood dripping from his mouth. "If you won't let me see my mother, show me that hideous face of yours."
"Would I be such a fool to do that? You'll just tell the police won't you?"
"Let go of my mother and I'll keep my mouth shut."
"You haven't done my request yet. Why would—"
"Then why did you choose me?" Jacob scowled, pulling the man's shirt. "It could've been anyone else!"
The man pushed him away. "I like how you aren't vigilant. You might seem strong in the outside, but when it comes to your mother, you're just helpless."
"You!"
"Enough." The man pulled his sleeves up. "Leave before I break that neck of yours."
(Present time)
"I saw a tattoo on his right arm that night." Jacob placed his hand under his chin. "It looked like a tiny sword."
"Well have you seen anyone with that tattoo before?" Molly sighed. "We can't just conclude that—"
Just as Molly was about to finish what she was saying, they were interrupted by a knock on the door.
A woman's voice echoed through the halls. "Molly?"
After hearing the familiar voice, Jacob fixed his eyes on the wooden door as Molly went to open it.
"Adele? Nic?" Molly's eyes widened. "W-What are you doing here?" she invited them in.
"We came to visit you, can't we?" Adeline sat down on the couch.
"Together?" Jacob scratch his head.
"Is there something wrong?" Nicholas folded his arms.
"It's just—"
"Speaking of that, Nicholas and I are together by the way."
"What?!" Molly and Jacob's mouth dropped open. "When? How?"
"None of your business." Nicholas smiled. "We're together. That's what matters."
