Molly's mouth dropped open. "You're kidding."
"Up to you to believe it or not." Jacob leaned back on his chair.
"Really?"
"Go ask him yourself then."
"B-But why would he realize it just now?"
"Ever since the day Adeline left, that's where he realized his feelings for her."
"He's so stupid." Molly rolled her eyes. "Well Adele won't accept him anyway. She won't leave Erick for her first love."
"Think about Erick too. Do you think he'd leave Adele for another woman?"
"Jacob!"
"What?"
"Pessimism won't solve the problem."
"I really saw him alright?" Jacob grabbed her shoulders. "I saw him buying condoms with a wo—"
"Enough. It won't matter if you tell me. I don't even have the courage to tell Adele all this... I think it's better if she sees it herself."
Several days later, instead of asking Adeline to sit down and do nothing, Nicholas finally decided to give her a task.
"You want me to review all these?" Adeline asked, looking at the files on the table.
"Is there a problem? Isn't that what you've always wanted?" Nicholas folded his arms. "If you—"
"I'll do it right away."
"Wait." Nicholas grabbed her wrist and looked away. "I-I'm sorry..."
"About the confession?" Adeline smiled. "Forget it."
"I-I still won't give up."
"Well it's up to you. Don't blame me for breaking your heart then."
"I-I heard you're heading to Erick's place today... Do you want me to give you a ride?"
"It's his birthday today." Adeline walked over to her desk. "I'm surprising him."
"Well... um... can I at least bring you home then?"
"If you insist, then I guess I have no choice." Adeline smiled.
A few hours later...
(At Erick's house)
"You'll regret it." a woman sat on Erick's lap, wrapping her arms around his neck. "No one will know, baby."
"You sure about this?" Erick grabbed her thighs.
"It's not our first time." the woman smiled. "Your pathetic girlfriend will never know."
Without even responding, Erick took the woman's hand and led her to his bedroom as he locked the door and came to kiss her. As the woman tried lifting his shirt, he helped her, pulling it off over his head.
Erick then pushed her down the bed, unzipping her clothes before pulling him on top of her.
He lowered his head and kissed her full on the lips. As the woman's fingers gripped his hair, he deepened the kiss, pulling her closer. Then his lips travelled to her cheek and down to her neck with gentle pecks before hearing footsteps entering the room.
"Erick? Abby?" a familiar voice asked before the woman pushed him away.
Both Erick and Abby then used the blanket to cover their bodies, turning their heads to look at the direction of the voice. "Adele?"
"You guys..." Adeline clenched her fist as tears started falling from her eyes. "How could you..?"
Abigail stood up. "A-Adele I—"
"Quiet! How could you guys do this to me? I trusted you!"
"How did you get in...?" Erick scratched his head.
"I have the keys." Adeline flashed her eyes angrily at him. "I was gonna surprise you for your birthday...and this is what I get?"
"Let us ex-explain..."
"Jacob and Nicholas were right about you. You just used me...as one of your toys..."
"I-I didn't!"
"We'll admit it," Abigail interrupted. "We've been doing this for quite a while, so there's—"
"Shut it!" Erick covered her mouth. "Let me speak."
"No need." Adeline took a deep breath. "I've seen it with my own eyes."
"You're breaking up with me?"
"Do you expect me to date a man who's making out with another woman?"
"I-I..."
"It's good that you're with Abby." Adeline tried holding back her tears. "You both suit each other."
"We'll apologize in advance then." Abigail gave her a scornful smile. "But I got Erick first, Adele."
