"Yo-You... How did you know I was here?" Jacob bit his fingers.
"I just called to inform you that your mother seems to feeble right now," the man responded.
Mother. That one word the man always mentions agitated him extremely. He knew what the man wanted from him, but for the sake of his mother, would he be able to do it?
"Leave her alone! Please!"
"Leave?" The man laughed. "Is it that difficult to betray that friend of yours?"
"Stop this. I can give you anything else except the one you requested," Jacob said, grasping the telephone.
"I don't want anything else except revenge you dimwit!"
"He is innocent! What do you want from him?"
"I want everything from him! I want him dead!"
"Just give me more time. Don't drag my mother into this!" Jacob slammed down the phone without waiting for a response, realizing that he made a mistake. He then snatched the receiver from the cradle only to hear a dial tone.
Jacob punched the wall. "Wait for me, mother. I'll come for you without hurting anyone."
Meanwhile, as Peter sat down to have a heart to heart chat with Ella, he offered her a cup of brown sugar milk tea.
"Heard you had a fight with Nicholas again." Peter took a sip of his tea.
Ella scowled at him defiantly. "What does that have to do with you? We've made up already."
"Just wondering why you still want him despite his relationship with Adele."
"Are you thinking that you might have a chance?"
"Not anymore, silly. You rejected me three years ago."
(Flashback)
Three years ago...
As Ella was on her way to meet Nicholas at the beach, she came across Peter, whimpering.
"You know that I'm leaving for Paris right...?" Ella bowed her head. "I don't know when I'm coming back."
Peter simultaneously wiped his tears and grabbed her shoulders. "Are you on your way to meet Nicholas again?"
"I'm telling him my answer to his confession. If there's nothing else—"
"All these years, you actually had your eyes on him?"
"W-What are you t-talking about?"
"I confessed to you more than ten times! Do you still not feel anything for me?"
"I like Nicholas." Ella pushed him away. "You have to learn to accept the fact that you can't have everything you want."
Peter grabbed her wrist and pulled her into a hug. "G-Give me one more chance, please."
"How many times do I have to tell you to leave me alone? I already told you that I have someone I like! Now let go!"
"You can like anyone else except him!"
"Who are you to tell me what to do?"
Peter kissed her forehead. "You can't be with him."
"You!" Ella slapped his face as tears started falling from her eyes. "Don't ever let me see you again! I loathe everything about you!"
"Why can't you just give—"
"Even if Nicholas didn't exist, I'd never fall for a egocentric man like you. I accepted you as my friend, but what did you do? You took advantage of me!"
"You will regret not listening to me, Ella. Even if you and Nicholas did become a couple, you'll one day just doubt his relationship with Adele."
"She's just his best friend. I trust him."
"Oh really? Well don't come crying to me in a few years. I've warned you, Ella."
(Present time)
"You've come to laugh at me? We haven't broken up." Ella's lips curled inwards.
"It's been three years." Peter sat closer. "Do you think that I'm still the same old frail boy that once wanted to win your heart?"
"I trust you, Peter. Don't make me regret it."
