A few days later, sitting on the bench as the rising sun casted a rosy hue across the morning sky, Molly and Abigail decided to meet up with Jacob.
"He what?" Molly and Abigail shouted In stupefaction.
Jacob sighed, "You heard me right. Ella is Nicholas' girlfriend."
"Why would you tell us this?" Molly asked.
"As her friends, don't you think she has to be prepared for the worst?"
Abigail patted his shoulder. "This prudent decision you made in telling us will help us find a way to alleviate the pain in her heart, so I thank you for that."
Jacob nodded. "We shouldn't be slacking off at times like this. The grief that Nicholas is about to cause isn't that easy to let go."
"What do you have in mind then? Do we just tell her in ad—"
"We try as much as we can to stop her from meeting up with Nicholas. I've talked to him last night and he's made up his mind to tell her when summer break starts."
Molly responded, "Since Ella is now back to study in our school, don't you think that Adeline might find it peculiar that Nicholas hangs out with that woman?"
Abigail agreed, "That's right. Why don't we just tell her ourselves?"
Jacob stood up. "It's better if it comes from Nicholas' mouth."
Meanwhile...
(In a nearby cafe)
"Why haven't you told her? Is it really that difficult to tell Adeline that we're in a relationship?" Ella slammed the table.
Nicholas held her hand. "Calm down. I'm still pondering about it."
"If you can't tell her yourself, then I'll go and approach her!"
"I'm telling her in a few days. Don't worry about it."
"Why does it have to be in a few days? Call her now and tell her!"
Nicholas leaned back on his chair and glared at her. "If you're just gonna be like this, then it's pointless talking to you. Don't order me around."
Ella hugged his arm. "Look, I'm sorry okay? I'm just afraid that she might've caught feelings for you already."
"How many times do I have to tell you that Adeline and I are just good friends? If you're skeptical about my relationship with her, then I think we should just end this."
"What-What are you talking about? Why do you mention that...?"
Nicholas stood up. "Without communication, there's no relationship. Without respect, there's no love. Without trust, there's no reason to continue."
Ella gave him a back hug. "Nic, I'll trust you now okay? Please forgive me..."
"Look, you're the only woman I've ever laid my eyes on, but if you can't even—"
His sentence was cut offed when Ella abruptly tiptoed and gave him a peck on his cheek. Nicholas' face then reddened as he looked away.
"Is this better now?" Ella smiled.
Nicholas nodded. "You know what to do now when I'm angry."
"Just tell her as soon as possible okay? I just hate the fact that we had to hide our relationship because of her."
"In a few days, the whole world will know that you're mine."
Ella held his hand. "Shall we go shopping then? Summer break's coming up and I've ran out of clothes to wear.
Nicholas kissed her forehead. "Anything for you, Ella."
As days passed by, Molly and Abigail tried keeping Adeline occupied, but Nicholas never stopped giving her calls. They did everything they could, but it was too late. Adeline had already agreed to meet up with Nicholas not knowing that he was gonna tell her something that'll break her heart.
Adeline folded her arms. "What's your problem with Nicholas? Every time he'd call, you'd always get my phone and reject it."
Abigail scratched her head. "Well-Well, uhh... We actually—"
"We were actually gonna ask you if you'd be going to stay with your parents for the summer." Molly laughed.
Adeline combed her hair. "I'm staying at the dorm. It's just a short break."
"Oh, that's great! Abigail and I are staying too! Why don't we hang out—"
"I know that you guys want to stop me from seeing him."
