Chapter 27 - A breakthrough and packing up

After I had finished crafting everything I would need, for now, I was thinking about what to do with the rest of the tree logs I had leftover. I was going to make some figurines to practice whittling wolf heads, but other than that I didn't know what to do with it, I could make a cart and take it to a town to sell but it was a magical tree with an aura as bright as Ratatoskr, they wouldn't value it as much as I did.

I could make a house but that would be a waste of it as well, so I was left with making musical instruments, tools, weapons, a boat, more charcoal or paper and artwork. None of these seemed to scream at me that I needed them, so I just started whittling different animals, I made a figure of Odin and a Mjölnir pendant I hung from the tassels on my axe id began to call lunars edge.

I also made a game of chess with different pieces by practising Transfiguration on bits of wood. The king was a Lycan, the Queen a wolf, the bishop a wizard, the knight was a hippogryph and the rook was a bird, that was kind of a joke, finally, the pawns were a house-elf they were for others advantages after all.

Transfiguration was easy when it was the same material and just the shape I wanted to change, I pictured the shape I wanted, focused my will and let my magic do the rest, it changed a lot faster than my attempts at changing wood to metal and back. So I decided to just transfigure the pommel of the axe to a Howling wolf head, I could always change it if I wanted.

While doing all this I was thinking about the Reparo charm and the Reducio charm, if I could just reduce the size of the logs I wouldn't have to worry about carrying them. I could just put them in my expanded backpack and even shrink that down so I didn't have to carry it on my back I could hang it on my necklace.

So I began testing, Raparo was quite hard with a chant because there wasn't a Norse word for repair or fix that meant the same thing, there was a few words for "fix" but they were used for settle or draw, usually something to do with marking something as property. So I just had to try chantless casting, I wasn't using my wand either I didn't want to become dependant on it, it was just a focus after all. If I could get my wandless magic to be as good as with my wand, using it would be even better.

So focusing on a piece of wood id cut from a log, I had the intention of it fusing back into the log and becoming unbroken again, I willed it to happen and poured out my magic onto both pieces. The result was bits off wood flying to the log as it absorbed it and grew out the chopped area into a full log, I kept repeating this until it became easy to accomplish.

After becoming confident I could cast the Raparo charm efficiently, I began working on the Reducio charm. Again there wasn't a word for shrink or reduce the closest I could get was "Gersmárr" which meant make small, it should work if I used my will power and had the intention of shrink it down magic would just take care of the rest.

It did work but was progressively harder the larger the object, I could easily shrink down the chess pieces but the log took almost all of my Magic, I had to recuperate before I began attempting to do the others. This got me thinking about my core, it was still in a fog-like state and I hadn't expanded it at all recently, I decided to sacrifice one of the logs and draw the energy of it inside of me.

Sitting on top of the log I began to meditate, I focused on the magic aura inside the wood and asked it to come to me, I had to ask it, it had its own will after all. The energy seemed to become excited and danced around rushing through the log into me, it flowed through my body but seemed to focus on the Yggdrasil mark on my back, when it came in contact with it, it evolved from air to mist and revolved around my body into my core. When all the energy was drained and converted, my core felt like it was bulging the mist began to condensate on the walls and trickle down into a liquid of a moonlight colour.

After the mist had liquified, I felt drained the energy didn't fill half of my core, I continued meditating drawing in the scarce magic in the air to fill my core, it took a lot longer than before as it had to become fluid and infuse with my own magic. After hours of meditation, I had finally filled my core and it felt surreal, I felt like my energy had multiplied when in actuality it hadn't it was just denser, I had the same quantity but the quality was richer.

Ratatoskr had seemed to copy what I did, he was sat on the log and drawing in the energy, his aura seemed to change minutely, it was still a bright amber but seemed to cling to his body more, it seemed obedient and didn't just flow from him anymore. Other then that nothing else changed.

"Ratatoskr you're a genius! Why haven't I thought about drawing in my aura!" I blurted out in amazement. He just looked at me like I was stupid, probably because he was a stealthy creature it was natural to him. He did seem to blend into the world going unnoticed if he wanted.

So I began to feel my aura, it was like smoke that just seeped away from my skin, trying to draw it in was harder then I expected it to be, I had to focus entirely on it and force it inwards. After it was inside I tried making a wall to keep it contained and it seemed to work and began to build up, I could now unleash my aura on demand, it could become an intimidating pressure.

Moving on from that I began testing my new fluid energy on reducing the size of a log I was pleasantly surprised, it didn't take a fifth it did last time and flowed so smoothly I barely noticed it moving, there was not any discomfort or comfort, it just was like breathing, natural and unnoticed unless you focused on it. I did the casting wandless as well, I wondered what casting with my wand would be like now so I tested it out on the other log. The result was impressive if I do say so myself, the energy was still the same but the speed and dispersion of magic made the charm easier to direct, I could encompass the log without as much focus on the energy. This could just be because of repeated casts though as it was easier the more a spell was used, a wand was a focus after all so that's what thought it was.

This was a happy accident I wasn't intending to condense my energy I was hoping to expand my core, but I wasn't complaining at all, making my spells more efficient was always going to be an advantage. I wondered why the log focused on the Yggdrasil mark and what it meant, would all wood-based magic be enhanced by it? Is it just wood-based or natural magic? But when I gathered it from the air it didn't seem to focus on the mark, maybe the energy of wood was connected to the mark, it was the world tree after all.

My time in the moors was coming to an end so I demolished the forge and collected all my gear, putting all the tools, leftover metal and the shrunken logs and chess set into my backpack, I shrunk that down and hung it on my necklace as well. I just hung my axe on my back with a hook I attached to my mantle it was easy enough to remove and hang with the head so it would do for a while.

I was heading for Ireland to find some house-elves that had been abducted by dark wizards, maybe ill see Orlando again. After that, I would task them with finding goblins while I headed to Norway to find Esther and Mikael to stop Dahlia from taking Freya she would be born in about 7 years and I want to see my family again, they should still go to mystic falls when the plague hits and cast the spell after Henrik is mauled beginning the vampire species.

While they were in America I would probably come back to England and help the founders make Hogwarts a school. I might become a teacher of runes and wait out most of the time until the statute of secrecy and transport the school and Diagon alley into Pangaea, and taking the witches and wizards as well. Hopefully, the goblins would be under my employment by then and would have made a country their own making branches of Gringotts bank for Pangaea.

I would need the help of the wizards and witches to secure an area in Pangaea it was full of magical beasts after all, and when the hunter families started hunting supernatural beings around the world I would try and employ them as witcher schools for their families and squibs of the wizard houses. They were connected to the supernatural world, after all, they could even have their children go into the normal world for early education and update the residents of Pangaea what was happening in the outside world.

The problem was first-generation witches and wizards while the which hunts were going on, it could lead to an all-out war between the two dimensions but I could figure that out later.
