I'm currently in a car with nezu and muir driving towards jinbei's town. Nezu is sitting in a children's car seat with elongated controls from the car. It's a little funny but I do remember him operating heavy equipment.
The exact location is called gujo haciman which is renowned as a water city in japan however once quirks became involved it truly became a water city as mostly people with water quirks or fish qualities live their. Nezu says that there has been local discord between people who aren't aquatics biologically and those that are. Well jinbei lives there for that reason. I've also been informed that this is the place that gang orca is from which is impressive as he is above ryukyu.
I arrived at the drop off point and was told to go explore by nezu as he went to find jinbei, muir also left to find her friend sharly who I immediately fixated upon and asked questions like "is she a shark and a fortune teller, does she own a cafe". I'm met with nods and complimented about knowing her as she isn't famous except in their circles.
So I'm walking down the street casually, I bought some candy from a store nearby and am munching it as I go. I heard someone telling me to get the hell out and turned to see what I assume is fishmen hobos.
"What do you hobos want". They took offence to that. "What do you mean hobos?!" "Your wearing Hawaii shirts covered in stains and your covered in tattoos, your either a hobo or a small fry gang member but considering this town has jinbei in it I would assume the first one".
"A monkey bastard like you doesn't deserve to speak about master jinbei get out". I then decided to give them my full attention but stopped as I realised. These guys are Arlong and his crew. The lips guy, the karate one and Arlong. No hachi so I guess that's good.
Being the person I am I said "make me shark bait". There was no one else on the street so I figured we could sort this out with a little violent persuasion. I quickly used observation haki to check my surroundings and discovered a large man dressed as a sumo with a chinchilla on his shoulder. I also spotted muir and sharly watching from a building window. I placed a smirk on my face and decided no quirks.
The guy who looks like chu began firing water bullets from his mouth. I simply sensed them and manoeuvred around them towards him and delivered a round house kick as I spun while dodging. I said nisenmaigawara mawashigeri and delivered into him sending him flying.
The karate manta ray member noticed my style and got angry. "How dare a monkey use the fishmen style. That's Aquarius Ken how can you know it". I shrugged my shoulders " it's easy for a monkey like me. I'm clearly better than you". He got angrier and rushed me. He shouted wanto Giri as his fins began to move like saw blades so I assumed this was his quirk. Before he hit me I entered horse stance and said yonsenmaigawara seiken and drove my fist into him making him stop completely and collapsing forward.
I heard someone say "hoh" which I determined to be jinbei, he's evaluating me to determine if I'm worth teaching. Then Arlong got all uppity and talked about how fishmen are superior. I mocked him by making a mouth piece gesture with my hand. He used his shark on darts and flew straight at me. I lowered myself again but rather than a punch I decided to do a chop.
"Kaimen Wari". That was all I said as I dropped my hand slamming it straight into that stupid hat he wears. He bounced off the ground with his eyes rolled back as his teeth shattered from the impact. This chump should really learn how big the word is before preaching.
I heard someone say impressive. I turned and saw jinbei. He looks just like he did in the big mom arc with his yellow outfit. I bowed and greeted him as he is a grand master in my style.
"Grand master jinbei". He waved his hand "at ease student, I am impressed you managed to reach 4000 bricks with your body alone as I can tell that your quirk is holding you back. Nezu said you would like to be trained to teach higher". I bowed again "it would be my honour sensei". You may be wondering why I keep bowing but in martial arts discipline is a huge portion. After going through years or torturous training it is only natural to respect those who endured more and reached hire than you.
He escorted me to his dojo as we talked along the way. He apologises to me about Arlong as he is misguided by his senior hody Jones. I know I know Inanna. Apparently he left some time ago after attacking the mayors wife. He talked to me about my style and said that my shark stance which is a major component of the style needs adjustment to match me and that something is holding me back.
I asked him what it is and he simply said in a zen matter " your own sense of self is holding you back, you need to make yourself understand you can use this style". I got confused but decided to think about it later. He also spoke to muir about her training and he noticed right away her issue.
She was using the male stances this whole time, the art itself is designed to match the user but she copied her master to much which limited her. So he corrected stances and form which lead to immediate improvement. She jumped from 4500 tiles straight to 6000 which is above master level but below grand master.
Our style measures strength by number of tiles that can be broken with 5000 signifying mastery. I'm at 4000 because my quirk is holding me back. Jinbei is a grand master because he can reach 7000 and is still aiming higher. Your base tile level is what can be thrown during battle, not during practice so this confirmed power levels. Jinbei sparred with muir and I was in awe of their skill as muir moves faster than she ever had.
Jinbei was also so graceful in movements with little energy wasted. His throws exuded power and his fists shines like diamond as it collided with muir's who now seemed to have developed ruby coloured fists.
For the next week my training was hell. I was given an air filtration mask that fits on my face that makes it difficult to breath and then kicked into the water. No quirk allowed. The mask allowed me to breath in the water granted I breathed in the Aquarius Ken breathing technique. Down at the bottom of the lake I had to slip my feet inside some holders and continue to throw punches until jinbei comes to stop me.
After that it was kicks, throwing rocks under the water and then sparring under water with jinbei and muir. After four days I adjusted to the water pressure and my swimming technique improved vastly.
I also grew more proficient in 360* combat through the training. I got to face one of jinbei's other students. Another cameo, koala with her smile quirk that made people laugh uncontrollably. I got along with her nicely and we quickly became friends.
I also helped out sharly with muir and koala at her cafe where my main job was beating up trouble makers. Jinbei became increasingly more confused by the final day as my body can reach 5000 tiles by his estimate indicating mastery over the style. I also developed my own versions of his famous techniques. I lean more towards the karate aspect of the style than the judo and jiujitsu.
As we were leaving I asked him if there is really nothing I could do to improve further. He asked what was the problem blocking me in the first place.
"Master when liquid comes in contact with my skin it gets absorbed and won't allow me to use my powers until it is fully absorbed." He chuckled and said " get a second skin then, the moves I showed are called shark skin not human skin". It was then it clicked with me.
My mind was holding me back. My thinking that my quirk isn't compatible. As the realisation as to what I need to improve donned on me he looked at me happily as he noticed I made my breakthrough.
I might have stepped into master realm like muir. It was the birth of a monster.
