Chapter 3 - Fortune teller (2)

Mary the Lost Fortune teller

POV

Mary rub her eyes tiredly, little by little focusing at the sight of unfamiliar wooden ceiling before jumped out of shock. the thin blanket that is covering her fall down and piling in the floor

[Its not my home-]

As she sat and preplexed look around, the memories come back like a crashing waves.

A slight bitter smile rise on Mary's face. She was quite unlucky on her journey, not only the merchant that travel decide to discard her as decoy for the monster. who know someone she regarded as trusted smuggling partner betray her on the drop of hat.

In her desperation she choose to jump on the river, before the strange kid drag her to the shore.

The Kid who still have baby fat on his face has glossy brown hair and glimmering violet eyes. The people on Vreya capital gonna be freaked out if they knew that this kind of good looking child left all alone in the wood-

As a major believer of Goddess of Victory and gifted since birth, Mary always believe the prophecy that has been spouted from her own mouth and another fortune tellers.

The reading of future that erupted in response on the boy who safe her life is peculiar. will he bring destruction or will he bring peace?

As she watch her young savior who axing the lumbers with questionable stronger than adult's swing's strength in the cottage front yard through the opened window, a feeling excitement run on her blood. The mystery and thrills of finding the truth always piquep her interest.

Maybe it is indeed worth it to sneak out of Vreya Kingdom after all that time-

The short red haired girl holding up the amethyst necklace with her family insignia on it and looked at it tenderly. beside her earrings, and the tattoo on her left shoulder, the necklace is the only identification that can be of use in the long run- the necklace glistening as the young fortune teller's energy seeping into the stones activating the runes carved on the precious gem.

With determined gaze, Mary choose her decision, for the reason of her runaway already accomplished.

Harold The Young Abnormal Lumberjack

POV

That evening.

The sunset glow warmly descended as the light become dim and dimmer, the temperature drop little by little as i can see the air come as warm puff from my mouth.

The lumbers has stock piled in the corner of the yard, and sadly i can't go to hunt like i usually do as it'll left my passed out guest unprotected. i know for sure animals and magical monster wouldn't dare to come at my territory, but there's always possibility of bandits passing by...not that they can harm me tho-

As i picked up the bucket and start filling it with air from the well and carried it to the separated bathroom before pour it on the tub that is attached to a steaming pot. taking an inspiration from the sauna room in my previous life is a brilliant idea. The perfect warm bath with mixed aromatic herbs, lazying around after a hard day is the best.

Soaking my self and stabilize my self before dealing with the klutzy stranger will help me keep my calm. or so i thought-

Sadly, There's a lot of things that can make me feel uneasy. But these...these certainly takes the cakes off of the crops-

"What are you doing-"

One raised eyebrow is all what it takes to intimidate this spoiled overgrown infant in front of me-

Yes, the red haired teenager is burried under my books that has been taken out of the wooden shelf and now scattered on the floor.

"Ah- Oops-" the girl grin sheepishly.

Cue a twitch mark in my head-

As kneaded my forehead to lessen the incoming headache from stress before sighing i look again at the not so guilty older girl.

"You better take a bath, i already change the water to a clean one- just...don't destroy anything- you hear me" i said while glaring at the reckless guest.

The girl, Mary, nodded her head before dashed to the bathroom.

Pretty sure she ain't come out of that place anytime soon if the loud delightful cheers come from the bathroom any indication.

Woman-

Adopted mom also reacted the same when i first suggested to her and adopted dad.

I picked up the scattered books and placed it back on the shelf. one by one with perfect alphabet orders. i then picked up broom and start cleaning. i don't know why but its always feel peaceful and calming my erratic mind when doing random house chores especially cleaning, its become a habit of mine after some time.

After a half hour passed, the girl entered the cottage. her eyes look sad.

"The tombs outside-" She said in grieving tone.

"Yes, those are my parent's. its unfortunate accident, but im sure Dad and Mom is in better place" i said with confidence, the conviction and pride swell. my adopted parents in this life are good and kind, im totally win the lottery after the dreaded first experience i have after regaining my adult conciousness as baby-

its still unfortunate that they gone before i reach teenage years. but i know for sure they didn't want me to mope around. on another case, im living proof that reincarnated and transmigration exist- who says those two lovebirds ain't restart their life somewhere-

"Ah-" the girl look bewildered.

As i place the supposed dinner and two cup of warm tea in the table and ushering the girl to sit, i explained to her about my plan.

"Tomorrow, i'll going to nearby village, from then- you can work on a shop named moonlite where theres an acquintance of mine named old wick- im sure he need some helping hand, and you need extra money right?"

i start with first plausibility. the girl nodded but tilted her head at the mention of helping on the shop. probably a traveling bum- i mean divine messenger like her never thought to settle down n get a job in a store.

"another possible way for you to earn money is to join adventurer guild and accept quests"

i added. Doubt she can do it tho- she seem pretty helpless- and the girl shake her head.

"Someone will pick me up tomorrow- i've calling my family" the girl interjected.

"You should have said it in the first place- good for you tho-" i answer deadpanned. "how did you contact them by the way?" i added as i ask curiously.

"Ah, i use this" The girl then offered a necklace and place it on my hand. "its a magic device"

"Hoo, nice" i muttered. magic items are rarely sold, and even if it sold, the money required to buy its is pricey. for someone who payments can only used for daily necessities like me, such amount of wealth are incomprehensible. Did i just hit the jack pot?- its still too suspicious tho-

"i might lost my money, but thankfully i still have the ones stuck to me. also- i hope you accept the necklace as payment and thanks for saving me and let me rest" The girl said with a polite smile.

"Ok, then-" i accept the gift. im gonna having lots of fun to experiment with it. "Also you can use the spare bedroom on the left" i added.

The spare bedrooom is my former room. since my adopted parents deceased, i move to my parents bedroom and left that old childhood bedroom as empty spare. it might be already few years not used, but i already clean it up a bit earlier so it should be fine.

After dinner we both bid for the night and reside on respective bedroom. tomorrow gonna be another long journey to the village.

As i stare at my bedroom ceiling a question errupted from my mind.

From Where Mary know the name which village she should be picked up?

Im pretty sure that i haven't tell her our location yet.

My eyes narrowed but my instinct said she bear no ill will, so i'll let it slide for now. she definitely have decent backing tho- the necklace's remind me of those expensive limited edition jewellry piece, not to mention magical functions on it. Yeah, better not get involved too deep with the girl and just act to not realize anything.

with troubled mind, the darkness of sleep embrace me to unconciouness.
