Chapter 10 - A Day Alone

Yane POV:

I woke up from my phone ringing non stop. I looked at it and saw a incoming call. I picked up not knowing who it was, as the other side said, "Good morning babe. How'd you sleep?"

"Oh hey, Kiyoshi. Good morning. I slept well, how about you?" I replied in a cheerful, yet tired voice.

"Same. I'm sorry about yesterday. How'd you get home?" He asked in a worrisome voice. I let out a small chuckle and reassuringly said, "I got home with a friend of mine. It's fine don't worry about it. How are you? Will I be see you today?" I asked.

Kiyoshi thought for a while before saying, "I'll pick you up from work. Anyways, have a nice day babe. Love you."

I returned his affections and hung up. Placing the phone down, I got out of bed and walked over to the bathroom to get Dabi's clothes and fix myself up. After brushing my teeth and hair, I took Dabi's clothes and headed back to my room. I neatly folded the clothes and put them into my backpack. I also put the piece of paper with my number, in one of the smaller pockets.

I put in my phone, wallet, and earphones, then I put on some new clothes and headed out. I didn't have breakfast because of the excitement overfilling me.

I arrived at the shop and walked straight to the launch room. I changed into my uniform and walked out the room, leaving the backpack behind the counter. I started happily wiping the tables and everything in this world seemed to disappear.

We opened the doors and people started flooding the shop. I was so happy today, I treated each customer nicer than ever. Then the bell above the door rang again and I jumped in excitement. I walked over to the door and greeted the new costumer. The day ended without the visit I was waiting for.

I sat back on one of the chairs and let out a sad sigh. I was so eager to see Dabi, but he didn't show up. I guess you could say it broke my heart. I decided to wait a bit more but then realized that Kiyoshi would pick me up soon. I changed into my clothes and waited near the door. Itsu and Fuka already left a while ago, so I was left alone. I let out another sigh and waited for Kiyoshi.

Kiyoshi arrived after a few minutes. He held a small bouquet of flowers. They were a mixture of lavender and wisteria sticking out of the sides. He gave me a hug and took me out. We went to a restaurant and had some sandwiches. I hadn't eaten all day.

Kiyoshi and I went to a park afterwards and talked a bit. After that he took me home and left. I stood outside the gates and stared at the sun starting to set. I sat down on a bench and continued watching the sun set, with the bouquet still in my hands.

I felt myself slowly daze off when I felt someone sit down next to me. I looked at who it was and saw Dabi. He was wearing a black mask and the clothes I gave him yesterday. I offered him a smile and went back to looking at the setting sun.

"Hey. Sorry I didn't come earlier. Something came up and I had to go deal with it." He finally said breaking the silence. I looked at him and said, "It's fine." I was offended and a bit hurt but it was impossible to stay mad at him forever.

"Wanna come in?" I offered. He nodded and I lead the way into my apartment. We walked in the door and and he asked, "How's your palm? I'm still sorry about that."

I just looked at my palm after taking off my shoes and said, "It's looking a lot better. Don't worry about it." He let out a sigh of relief and said, "Did I act weird yesterday?"

I thought about it and said, "Do you wanna know the truth?" He nodded right away and I started, "Well, you were really flirtatious. I guess it's understandable. You were in the cold for really long. Thanks for bringing me home. Speaking of home, I washed your clothes. They're in my backpack." I said, digging inside my backpack, after placing the bouquet of flowers down.

I pulled out his clothes and handed them to him. He gladly accepted them and held them in his hands. We walked inside and I sat him on a chair in the kitchen. I put the bouquet Kiyoshi gave me in a small vase and placed it on the window sill. "I'll be right back." I said before heading to my room and changing. I put on some sweat pants and a loose t-shirt. I walked back out and let out a 'ta-da.'

Dabi looked at me as I said, "Now we're matching!" I noticed him hide his face in his hands. I walked over and took his hands into my own, and held them up. "Are my clothes comfy?" I asked him.

He looked away and said, "They're decent." I let go of his hands and walked over to the sink to wash my hands while asking, "Is there anything you wanna eat? I'd be more than happy to cook it for you."

He thought for a while before saying, "Anything is fine." I let out a 'hmm' and heard an inaudible "Only if it's made by you." I pretended not to hear it but those words warmed me up so much.

"How's your boyfriend doing?" He suddenly asked. I continued gathering the ingredients from the fridge and said, "He's fine. Why?" I was curious to why he was curious about my love life.

He just let out a 'hmm' and didn't say anything. I let out a small inaudible giggle and said, "Well, I'll be making some Katsudon." He let out a satisfied sigh and said, "I've actually never tried it before."

I looked at him in disbelief and said, "Than I'll make sure it's the best one you'll ever taste." He let out another satisfied sigh before taking off his mask, and placing it on the table.

I started making the Katsudon and put my best efforts into it. It was a matter of life and death for me. It was going to be Dabi's first Katsudon and he had to be satisfied.

We talked throughout the whole time I cooked and finally it was ready. The pork thoroughly cooked. The eggs perfectly mixed with the rice. Toppings perfectly organized on top of everything.

I put the bowls of Katsudon on the table and took out 2 cups from a shelf and took out some orange juice form the fridge. I poured the orange juice into the cups and placed them next to the bowls.

I took out 2 pairs of chopsticks and spoons and placed them near the bowl. I sat down next to him and said, "Dig in." He thanked me before picking up a pork and taking a bite. I looked at how he was eating and waited for his thoughts.

"So what do you think?" I asked impatiently. He chewed a bit more and swallowed what was in his mouth and said, "This is really good." I smiled in relief and dug in for my own bowl. I added extra flavors and it tasted so good. I cupped my cheeks when the fresh pork steamed in my mouth.

We talked throughout the whole dinner time and Dabi even asked for a second bowl. After finishing eating I started washing the dishes and continuing the conversation, "So, what do you do for a living?" I asked.

He didn't answer for a while, I just let out a nervous giggle and quickly said, "It's fine you don't have to tell me." I looked at him waiting for an answer. He looked down and asked, "Are you happy with your boyfriend?"

I didn't know what to say. I wanted to tell him the truth but it felt weird. For some reason I trusted him with my life and I was willing to tell him everything. It breaks my heart that he doesn't feel the same.

"To be honest... I don't wanna be in a relationship with him. It doesn't feel right." I finally spilled my real feelings out. I didn't dare to look back and kept washing the dishes. I felt a bit revealed that I got something off my chest.

"Then why don't you break up with him?" He asked. I shrugged and said, "He's trying hard to carry our relationship. I don't want him to feel like all he did was for nothing. I was happy in the beginning of the relationship, but some things changed. It isn't him, it's me." I confessed all of the emotions I bottled up.

"Well anyways, It's already late. You should probably go now." I said after placing the last dish in the drier. He got up and walked over to me. I looked at him. His face was only a few inches away from mine. I squeezed my eyes shut, my face heating up from my thoughts. I waited for what was going to happen.

"There's something on you hair." Was all he said, brushing off something from my hair. I opened my eyes and saw Dabi move back. I let out a sigh and said, "Thanks... you should go now, it's getting late." He nodded before putting on his mask and heading towards the front door.

I picked up my backpack and searched for the piece of paper with my number. "Here. My number." I nervously said, displaying the small piece of paper in front of him. He smiled and grabbed the paper, our hands slightly brushing against each other.

He grabbed the clothes I washed, and left, waving a goodbye. I closed the door and ran straight to my room and jumped into my bed. I grabbed onto my pillow tightly and squealed like a pig. I fell asleep easily that night.
